In February of 2015, I got one of my current set of actively used whistles. It’s a Sweetheart blackwood whistle, purchased at Dusty Strings, and it has a wonderful voice to it. I still use it in sessions.
I originally posted about this on angelahighland.com , with a mirror post on Dreamwidth . And here are pics of it!
Whistle in the bag
This is the bag that came with the whistle--two sections in it for the whistle pieces themselves, and another section to contain the brush and the cork grease that came with it too. Because this is a NICE whistle and will want proper maintenance!
Whistle out of the bag, disassembled
And here's what the whistle actually looks like, before it's put together.
Whistle assembled!
This is the whistle put together and ready to play.
Side by side shot
This is a shot of the blackwood side by side with my carbon fiber whistle, also in D.
End shot
And this shot is to show the ends of the two whistles, so that you can see that the blackwood has a larger diameter than the carbon fiber. Which'll mean more power and hopefully more ability to be heard in a room full of fiddles and accordions!
