Site update

I am sure this will probably make some of you gasp with surprise, but I have finally posted Chapter 5 of Iterations. Most of my writing time is going into my original work these days, but I had a bit of time tonight, so decided to add a bit more in to this. In case anybody out there is still checking in to see if I wrote anything else. ;)

In the meantime, just in case anybody also happened to notice this, I fixed several broken links on my logs page.

Well, having participated in Nanowrimo, I am most pleased to announce that I did in fact hit the goal of 50K set by that whole activity. I am now sitting on 51K of a novel in progress, which is absorbing the vast majority of my creative energy at the moment. Since this is a work I intend for actual publication I won’t be linking it in on my site, but I will be at a future point putting out a call for proofreaders. Meep!

In the meantime I have taken the icons off my splash screen for Nanowrimo and put the Winner one over on my Writing page. And I’ve fixed the broken styles for the Winter style, so they’ll map over to the mirror site on drizzle appropriately!

Site update

It is the first day of November, and I have done something very silly: I have endeavored to get back into writing, now that my arm has more or less healed from the break it suffered in June, by participating in National Novel Writing Month. This involves writing 50,000 words of a novel in one month. 30, count ’em, 30 days. I have my doubts that I can do it, but it’s going to be fun to try! And I’ve added the official Nanowrimo participant icon to the entry page of my site; when I have enough of it done, I’ll start posting chapters of the novel I’ve chosen to work on as well.

Realized that my contact form was a little confusing, because the email address box was not obviously ASKING FOR YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. Whoops! I have taken care of this little problem.

Site update

Thanks to the uber-annoying SoBig worm as well as the reams of spam I have continued to get in my Inbox despite the invaluable assistance of spamassassin, I have now changed my email address. Chances are if you are looking at this site you have been informed of what that new address is, though if I haven’t gotten around to telling you yet and you want to update me in your address book, drop me a line and say hi. The email change should not otherwise affect this site.

Site update

Have added a couple new characters, Darkedge and Redstar, to the Members page; Nightfall and Redstar are now properly shown as helping Cutter OOC lead the tribe on the Intro page; Pike, Dewshine and Skywise have been given to new players, and Redlance returns to his last player.

Some girls, when they get depressed, go and get their hair done. Me, I overhaul my web page. Though this has taken a LOT longer than I intended, courtesy of me breaking my arm in June and having to type one-handed for the past eight weeks, I have finally now finished the latest version of this site.

Big change in the overall look and feel, y’all will notice; going for a minimalist look, and have also been playing with being less heavy on the graphics and trying to do more with color and layout. The look around here will change on a seasonal basis now as well.

Of main interest in terms of the update record is that you can now search for certain types of updates if there is a particular section of my site you like to keep track of: e.g., my writing, my MUSH logs, my jamming group, whatever.

My MUSH logs are now searchable, though they have been set in two separate archives since all of my Two Moons MUSH stuff is in its own direcyory. But I have also tried to better organize the TM stuff.

I have a couple new pages… a little honor page mostly for my parents, but also because I wanted to have a place to have the blurb I had posted for 9/11. And I linked my resume in, and added a page that goes into geek mode about how this version of my site is put together. My journal section is gone; I moved the old entries out of there into backdated entries on my Livejournal, which gets its own link on the menu now.

There are other little things I have done here and there, all mostly in the name of fixing broken stuff and in general making this place cleaner and easier to maintain. I’m probably forgetting something, but this is what I get for having been spending the last eight weeks doing the broken arm thing!

As before I have attempted to test on as many browsers as I have had available to encourage cross-browser compatibility, but if you see something that is broken on a specific browser let me know. For that matter, if you see anything at all that’s broken, let me know. I’ve probably missed several things. :)

Lastly, I will be mirroring a big chunk of this site to my secondary account at drizzle.com, so y’all will be able to visit there for much of my stuff should murkworks.net fall off the face of the planet.

Hope y’all like the new look.
