Skyrim Playthrough: Alarrah

This is a landing page to round up the thoroughly documented saga of my very first playthrough of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Even though this is a ten-year-old game, I finally played it for the first time in spring of 2021 when I got a Nintendo Switch.

And, being me, I decided to document my playthrough in depth. This turned out to amuse a lot of folks who follow me on social media as well as on my blog and its Dreamwidth mirror. More than one person decided to play Skyrim again because of my reminding them of the fun they’d had before. And at least one person also started playing it on the Switch for the first time! This page is dedicated to all of you!

Note that a lot of my initial sessions with Alarrah started as being documented on Twitter and Facebook first–before I got detailed enough with them that I shifted over to posting blog posts on WordPress instead, because that was easier for me to write up. So the first several links here are going to be to Twitter threads where I posted about what I was doing. The rest of them will be to posts on

Main Plot

These are the Twitter threads and later WordPress posts that focus specifically on running the game’s main plotline, which culminates in defeating Alduin the World-Eater. All of these links are in chronological order.

Interlude Between Dawnguard and Dragonborn

I did a few runs in between the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs, just to have a bit of a break between the two plots.

Of note in this particular interlude: this was where I experimented with having a horse! And this was also where I convinced Serana to cure her vampirism, and where I became thane of the Reach in Markarth.
