Log Date: 10/16/98 Log Cast: Ariani (NPC), Shenneret Veery, Troy McTavish, Ressec, Jonathan Webb, K'lek (NPC), Aldog, Saris, Chantinelle, Kaein, Clarise, Titus Log Intro: What with all of the violence in Plaxton City as of late, the inhabitants -- both the natives, and the transients who have settled in for a while, like Shenner -- have started growing restless. Incidents in the city have provided the fuel for much of the gossip that's gone on in the Sandbar. In a bizarre way Shen's found herself grateful for the distractions from her own personal concerns, though she could wish for some rather less... violent... distractions. Some distractions, though, are just a bit too much for Shen to handle even without violence.... ---------- The Sandbar A large circular room creates the main part of Caspar's infamous SandBar. Dark wood paneled walls adorned with all sorts of paraphanalia set the relaxed athmosphere of the bar. Photographs and holovids are pinned randomly around, seemingly with no order at all. Posters from years past hang proudly, displaying obscure bits of Plaxton's recent history. Several windows made from a deep blue glass allow light in from outside, while still keeping the appearance of the bar rather dark. Along one curved wall a marble bar stands proudly, where Ariani busies herself making drinks and cleaning occational spots of the bar. There is an abundant amount of seating in here. You notice quite a few booths and tables, as well as a loft which protrudes out over the bar. A popular local band plays smooth jazz in the background. ----For help with tables, type "PLACE HELP" ----For help with drinks, type "BAR HELP" -=-=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=-=- => Ressec => Ariani => Emma -=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=- leads to Fountain Square - Plaxton City. The Quarren attended, Ariani returns to idly chatting with the young redheaded musician. Conversational topics of the morning include, it would seem, recent events in the Square. "Well, I hope the Marines keep a solid handle on things," Ariani can be heard to say, while Shen replies grudgingly, "Yeah. Startin' to feel like Tatooine around here..." Troy enters the Sandbar. Troy has arrived. Troy enters the Bar, a little wet but his Cigar still Burns Brightly...he scans the room. Ressec is sitting alone at the bar nursing a Nar Shadda Beer, alone with his thoughts and the bartender whos chatting with the redhead next to him. Within the comparative quiet of the Sandbar, the bartender Ariani and the musician Shenner can be spotted at the bar, the former leaning against her side of the counter, the latter perched on a stool, a large textbook before her, though she appears to be in conversation with Ariani rather than reading. At the sound of the door sliding open again, though, the bartender glances over and pipes up cheerfully, "Mornin'. What can I get ya?" Webb enters the Sandbar. Webb has arrived. Troy walks closer to the Bar "hello all....Can i get a pot of coffee for me..at the Booth.." Gives Shen a Smile and then heads towards the booth. Troy dissapears among the patrons. Shenner glances round herself, and upon spying Troy, a slight lopsided smile curves her mouth. Now facing the door, she spies Webb coming in as well; the smile broadens. Ariani, also spying Webb, immediately appends to her greeting to Troy, "Citrus tea for you, Sergeant?" Ariani nods towards Troy, though, and turns to brew up a fresh pot. Webb nods his head wearily upon trudging into the Sandbar. Perhaps with his present demeanor he might be in the mood for depressant beverages rather than stimulant ones, but not this early in the day... and certainly not with his present duty schedule. It looks as if Webb has been missing sleep lately... He stifles a yawn as he makes his way over to Troy's table. Webb does in fact, meet Shen's gaze, and offer her a smile of his own, though he does have the appearances of having plenty on his mind at the moment. Shenner bobs her head at the Sergeant by way of greeting, and then glances after Webb with a flicker of concern in her young countenance, but she doesn't disturb the men, as Ariani sends over the coffee Troy's requested. Once the table is supplied with the needed drinks, Shen turns back to the bartender and murmurs at her, "Guess it's gettin' to them, too." Webb dissapears among the patrons. Troy smiles as Araini gives him the pot of coffee "Tks dear..this'll help me greatly.." and pours himself a glass, and greats Webb. Webb nods his head faintly to Troy, and begins to talk within the booth, in deliberately hushed tones. Evidently, the topic of the recent upsurge in violence on Caspar is not particularly amenable to the two women at the bar. Ariani, at any rate, gently nudges Shenner into a different topic: schooling. Grudgingly, the musician shifts gears, and starts bringing the bartender up to date on her efforts to get into the University of Caspar. It doesn't exactly look like an amenable topic to Webb either. Still, violence is his business, so in all likelihood, that is what he has had to talk about all too often lately... Troy finish's off another cup of coffee and pours another from the Pot that was brought over. he also lights another Cigar. Slight laugher, even thought laboured, can be heard from Troy. In the Booth Shenner and Ariani, eventually, back off their conversation. The bartender asks something that turns Shen's face grimmer and more distant, and apparently the older woman senses a boundary she doesn't want to cross. She flashes Shen a sisterly grin, ambles off to give attention to a couple of new customers who have walked in, and leaves Shen to her study. Her mouth twisting a bit, the redheaded musician drops her attention to her textbook. K'lek enters the Sandbar. K'lek has arrived. K'lek looks to Ariani. "Nothing thanks" The bartender nods steadily to the latest of her customers, turning back to the rest of her business. The rest of the bar is comparatively quiet, with a redheaded young woman and a Quarren visible at the bar itself, and a pair of men in private conversation in one of the booths. K'lek A massive 8 foot Wookiee stands before you with an aura of control eminating from him. He his the standard size for a Wookiee, and the standard physical personality is also clearly shown. He is standing with his crossbow at nearly complete attention as he seems to be guarding someone or something -=-=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=-=- => DY-255 Heavy Blaster Pistol K'lek notices your glance and stands more erect and at attention, slightly tightening his grip on his crossbow. He remains silent, however Ressec is at the bar at obviously a little intoxicated, after all, this is the large Quarrens Nar Shadda beer. The tenticles on his face drip with the foamy substance of Hutt origin. K'lek notices your glance and stands more erect and at attention, slightly tightening his grip on his crossbow. He remains silent, however Aldog enters the Sandbar. Aldog has arrived. Aldog enters the bar and smiles at the bartender. "Actually just some water I think, thanks." Aldog sits down at the bar. _One of these days,_ resolves Shenner to herself, _I'm gonna hafta learn to speak Wookiee..._ All she can do by way of noticing the big furred sentient who's come in is, well, notice him. She glances at the Wookiee momentarily, then ducks her attention to her book once more, there at the bar. Troy laughs "nahhh...pretty much done..." Troy comes out of the crowd. Troy looks to webb "Besides Sleep is over rated..." laughs Aldog turns to K'lek. "That will be all, my friend. Please wait for me outside." Ariani nods to Aldog, and after she's attended to the rest of those who have been wandering in, she fetches the man a tall glass of water. K'lek nods to Aldog K'lek walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. K'lek has left. Webb rises slowly to his feet and emerges from the booth, beginning to trudge his way back past the bar. Webb comes out of the crowd. Aldog sits at the bar and sips his water while looking around the area Troy walks towards the Bar with his coffee in hand and a cigar in his mouth. "Anything else for you gents?" asks Ariani, as Webb and Troy approach. Shenner glances up from her textbook again, silently. Troy finishes off his Coffee "Yes lass another Coffee would be grand...and make it strong.." looks over to Shenner "So yeah keeping out of trouble Lass." "You got it," says Ariani simply, hiding a slight grin at McTavish's question to the musician. "Best I can," replies Shenner, straightfacedly. "I duck really well." Troy smiles at Shen's Reply "Good would hate to see my Music teacher get messed up..." Webb stifles a rather profound yawn and meets Shen's gaze once again. The musician, and others who know him would rather quickly notice that Webb has obviously seen better days. Yes... a few more minutes of sleep, and laying off of the 30 hour shifts would probably help him immensely right about now. Aldog answers a beeping comlink. "Yes, you may return to the ship. Keep track of any holoterminal calls. " "It ain't high on my priority list either," drawls the redheaded girl. She peers over at Webb, then, and asks, "Pal, you had a nap lately?" Saris enters the Sandbar. Saris has arrived. Webb shakes his head rather profusely at Shen's question, and checks his chronometre, "Not a wink in... coming up on 40 hours. Sometimes I kinda forget to do that." Studying Webb for a moment or two, Shen gives one of those small lopsided grins to which she seems to be prone, and tells him succintly, "You should crash." Troy sits at the bar drinking a very deadly looking cup of Coffee...he watches Shen and webb speak. Saris strolls in, adjusting his satchel comfortably. Gazing among the bar's patrons, he decides to belly up to the bar. Deftly, Saris maneuvers through the customers to find a seat in the midst of the long chest-high counter. He whispers something to Ariani, and she hurries to find him a drink. He takes in his fellow bar-mates as casually as can be. Webb nods his head rather profusely in wholehearted agreement with Shen's assessment, "I should..." and with that trudges past on his way out of the bar, hopefully on his way to take Shen's advice. Aldog looks to Saris and give him a small smile Saris looks at you for a moment. Aldog motions for Saris to come to the bar Shenner seems satisfied; if anything, the girl's green gaze suggests a rather profound understanding of the kind of exhaustion Webb's broadcasting. As the Marine takes his leave, the musician shifts position on her stool, considering whether to return her attention to her book or to Troy. Webb walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Webb has left. Troy watch's Webb leave he then turns to Shenner "So when can i have another lesson..i've been practicing.." taps at his boot so Shen knows what the hell he is talking about. Ariana brings Saris a tall, crystal blue drink with a long, complex, winding straw protruding from the top. He sips it tentatively before tossing a credit towards the bartender. He smiles and listens to the general chatter around him. Troy, then, though the book stays open on the bar before Shenner. The redhead shifts again where she sits, grinning a bit. "Whenever works," she tells the man with the coffee and cigar. Saris sits down at the bar. Troy gives Shenner a warm smile "Well if'n yeah ain't doing anything now...we can work a little on it.." "Sure." Shenner shifts her slender frame around fully on the stool, facing McTavish. "Where'd we leave off, anyway?" Troy pulls out his Flute from his boot and hands it over to Shenner "you was showing me notes..and finger placement.." smiles "I think i'm ready for more.." Saris looks at you for a moment. Accepting the flute, Shenner nods sagely, blowing out a breath afterward. "I think we were talking about scales," she muses. "This thing's in C, I remember. We talked about octaves, and you can do higher notes on this thing, right?" Troy smiles "yeah thats it..." sips on his coffee..and buts out his cigar. so he can better practice what he learns "Aye we where on a higher Octave now..." Saris returns Aldog's gaze, recognizing his face, but not showing any outward sign of it. He looks down the other side of the bar, glancing at several of the patrons: a rocket jockey, the man he remembers from a brief encounter at the Station orbiting above, a military-type in civilian clothing, and a extremely pale, odd-looking human female. Another sip and he turns to answer Aldog's query. "Actually, no, I believe not. The name's Clinton. People just call me slick, though," replies. Aldog says, "Nice to meet you, Slick. Mine's Al." Saris nods, returning the smile. "Nice to meet you, Al. Whatcha drinking?" he inquires casually, glancing over at the beverage in Aldog's vicinity. Aldog says, "Just water myself, I need to keep my wits about me" Shenner inclines her head, her fingers settling comfortably into place on the little wooden flute's holes. "Well, octaves are easy enough. You already can do it, you showed me; they're just the same notes, only higher. Unless you want me to show you how to actually _write_ music down, I don't need to do much more than that. What I _can_ do is show you accidentals." Now, as she talks, something of her usual rough accent seems to fall away out of her voice; she sounds almost... intellectual. Holding up his drink, Saris agrees, "Aye, fresh goonda juice with a splash of oranj." He takes a long draught. "Nothing like the taste of fresh fruit." Aldog says, "Very true, but don't like the small pulp that much...gets caught between my teeth. So, Slick, what business you in?" Troy looks at Shenner for a moment or two..."err okay..i ain't be needing at right music...but what the heck do yea mean but accidentals....i'm a dame good pilot not sure whats that got ta do with playing a flute thought.." sips at his coffee...mabey there was someting he missed. "My business," Saris says seriously, "Is none of *your* business." He lets his stare linger for a while, before continuing. "I came here for a drink, and a polite conversation... possibly some local gossip, if there's a tale to be told," he adds, smiling. Saris had intentionally let his last phrase gain volume ever so slightly, to carry outside of his conversation with Aldog. Chantinelle enters the Sandbar. Chantinelle has arrived. Aldog waves his hands as if he was apologizing for something. "Geez, sorry Slick. Didn't mean to get you all flustered." "No offense received, my fine sir," says Saris cheerfully. Shenner gives a soft, gruff laugh. "Well, it's like this... your flute here does those basic seven notes like I told you, see? But you can also sneak in extra notes in between 'em... those are accidentals. Like this." She lifts the flute up to her lips, and starts playing a scale... but rather than lifting each finger in sequence off the fingerholes, she adds in extra notes, rearranging her fingerings as she goes. The scale proceeds in half steps rather than whole ones, C to C sharp to D to D sharp and on upward. Aldog says, "I, too, am interested in tales to be told. Especially juicy ones" Troy watches Shenner's fingers intently....and nods as he watches Shenner go through the Accidental Scale with the Sharp notes "ahhh okay...my Dad called those sluff's....." smiles "guess he did not got to music school either " laughs. slightly Chantinelle yawns as she enters the bar. She waits at the entrance and looks around searching a free and empty table. As she sees one she moves directly toward it, but hearing the music the stops and frowns, looking around searching the source of the music. Chanti spots the woman playing the flute , offering her a friendly smile since she likes the music. Saris peers at his drink quizically, pondering the irony of Aldog's statement. He mentions, a bit quieter, "I hear there's money to be had for such information." Aldog says, "Hmmm, might be. Who know's?" Chantinelle sits down at the table. "Aye, that is the question," Saris states. "Who does know?" Shenner stops, her dark red eyebrows going up, at the word Troy offers her. "Sluffs, huh? I like it. Well, there's a coupla ways you can do 'em on this flute of yours. First way's like this. Suppose you wanna do... hrmm. F sharp. If you were going to do an F, you'd have your first three fingers down, like this..." She demonstrates, the top three holes covered, the bottom three open. As Chantinelle passes, in the meantime, she glances at the woman without recognition, but nods back at her. Troy again watches Shenner intently. He is a willing student and ready to learn..if you watch he copies Shen's finger movements with his own.."ahhh okay..yeah said a coupla ways ta do that..." he watchs again eagerly Chantinelle waves slightly to Ariani, wanting to order a drink as she listens to the young musician's play. Aldog sits at the bar and sips his water "I'm getting to that. Now the next note up, two fingers, would be G... but F sharp is between 'em. You can do it like this..." And Shenner scoots a finger off the third hole, but only halfway. "Or, you can do it like this." She takes her finger entirely off the third hole, but puts down a finger on the fourth hole, leaving the third one open. "See?" Ariani nods amiably towards Chantinelle. "Can I get ya anything?" she calls over. Chantinelle hmms and thinks for a sec, "Oh yes, please a fresh mineral water. And right it down on the bill for the embassy again." she calls friendly back to Ariani. Mineral water is easy enough, and it doesn't take long for Chantinelle's request to be fulfilled. Aldog takes a sip of his water. "I have heard the information business is quite profitable, if worked correctly." Troy almost feels bad for cutting off Shen the first time but that disappears as he watches her go over the other notes "Aye i think i got it..." and then his ChronoAlarm goes off "Ahhh shit....." gives Shen a pleading look "Sorry lass Something just came up..and i have ta hit the road..my applogies." Shenner blinks, then nods steadily and returns the pilot's flute. "No problem," she says simply, apparently accustomed to people running in and out of the Sandbar on short notice. Troy accepts the Flute back..."I'll practice...I promise.." and then heads out. Troy walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Troy has left. Saris takes a glance casually over at Chantinelle, then turns his head quickly back when the uniform and persona register in his mind. Saris blinks, then turns back to Aldog, looking for a statement. "Profit isn't everything, sir," he stutters out. He grabs his drink, paying no attention to Aldog, walking slowly towards the woman sitting solo at the table. Aldog gives Saris' comment a chuckle and nods politely to him as he leaves the conversation Alone again, Shenner shifts around and returns her attention to the sizeable textbook parked before her on the bartop. As Saris approaches, he notes the make and model of the blaster at his side. "Definately high-class Imperial," thinks Saris to himself. Chantinelle nods thankfully to Ariani and takes the glass, sipping slowly on the glass, while the watches the bar and the many guests, seeing the musician alone the calls over to her "Well M'Lady would you mind to play for us all?" Shenner doesn't seem to hear Chantinelle, or perhaps isn't paying attention. Ariani, however, nudges her and points in the woman's direction, making the redhead blink and look over her shoulder. "Talkin' to me?" she asks blankly. Saris stops midstride, halfway between the bar and Chantinelle's table, glancing toward the musician girl. Chantinelle offers a smile and nods slightly, "A yup, I just asked you, M'Lady, to play for us all, if you would like only of course?" Aldog hears a small beep from his comlink and responds in a whisper. Aldog walks away from the bar. Aldog tosses a few credits on the bar counter. "Thanks alot for your fine hospitality miss." Aldog heads towards the door Oh. Shenner smirks a bit, looking _just_ a trifle sheepish, but she gazes steadily over in Chantinelle's direction. "I don't usually play at this hour," she points out. "'Sides, I don't wanna disturb anybody." She glances around the bar, while in the meantime, Ariani nods politely to Aldog. Aldog walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Aldog has left. Saris follows Aldog with a minimum of curiosity, then turns towards Chantinelle, continuing his stride. Once close enough, he inquires politely, "Is this seat taken, ma'am?" Chantinelle frowns slightly at the man who stands himself right in her own sight to the bar. She slightly tilts her head to the side, "Oh my.. I am sure you wont _disturb_ any with your music! you play wonderful!" and now looks at the man before her, "Oh No.. it itsn't, why asking?" she smiles polite. Shenner crooks her dark red eyebrows, looking a bit taken aback again. .oO (She thinks I play wonderful on a scale and a half?) she thinks. But what she _says_, willing to chalk this up to this woman perhaps having been in the establishment before when she _does_ play, is "Well, if nobody else minds." She rolls a slender shoulder in a bit of a shrug. "I was merely Wondering if this fine young lady would care for a drink and a conversation, as well as give this tired fool some companionship," Saris states politely, moving around to face Chantinelle. Chantinelle looks at you for a moment. Chantinelle shrugs and nods slightly, she points to a free chair, opposide to her own and says, "Of course, you may be seated." she says softly and winks to Ariani again , wanting to invite the man to a drink. Kaein enters the Sandbar. Kaein has arrived. Chantinelle sips slowly on her drink, smirking. Suddenly she frowns and looks slightly annoyed as she looks over at the door, seeing a black Horansi coming in. Kaein steps throught the door, looking around casually as his golden eyes adjust to the light. His tial whips back and forth as he steps down into the joing, and catches chantinelle's annoyed look and begins over toward her table. Well, _that_ would appear to be a resounding lack of interest. As she receives no commentary on the matter of whether she should play, aside from a mild shrug from Ariani, and as Chantinelle's own attention seems to distract, Shen pauses on her stool for a moment or three. Kaein's abrupt entrance catches her further off guard, and Ariani can be seen to frown. Ressec sits alone at the bar unmoving with an empty mug infront of him. Despite that the mug has been empty for a good half hour, the large Quarren gives a digrutled grunt, "The glass dosn't fill itslef barkeep." Than, from his pocket he takes a small unidentifiable gadget of various wires and other machine along with some complex tools and some tools to work on them. Chantinelle raises an eyebrow as the Horansi moves directly toward herself, she leans back, looking carefully what he wants to do, as her hands stays visible on the table. She even offers a wicked smile to the feline before she turns her attention back to the bar, but never letting the Horansi out of the edge of her eyes. "I'm not a telepath, either," Ariani replies dryly to Ressec. "You want something else, sing out." She does, however, pour him another beer. Kaein stops a few feet from chantinelles table, looking directly into the womans eyes, the cub dosent seem to be in the greatest of moods. "I have no fight with you, or your pet. this quarrel that /you/ have started does not need to go on anyfurther" the cub says in a monotone voice, his face devoid of emotions at the moment. Chantinelle blushes at once hearing tihs word "pet" she hates so much, she stares at once at the feline and growls, "She isn't my PET, okay? But I just do not like your behavior toward her! You Horansi should work together not against eachothers!" Kaein shifts his weight to his right side and sort of hrumphs to him self, his arms crossing over his chest "my people have never worked with me, they have only worked toward my destruction" the cub says indifferently, his eyes remained locked on the ambassador, his face still unreadable. Chantinelle hmmpfts, understanding the feline, she answers inher low growling voice, being able to speak in Horansi as well as the cat knows, "Then either ignore them or try to make peace with them.. BUT Zia is taboo. No speaks to her, no gestures not even a glance at her!" Kaein cocks a mocking grin, and a slight chuckel "if you didnt want me to interact, then you shouldn't let the kasa wander around the streets, you should have kept her locked up in her cage on your star destroyer" replies the cub, in a very biting tone. Shen peers over at Kaein and Chantinelle as they converse, her brow wrinkled at the exchange, but she turns her attention away and back to her textbook. The redheaded girl might be rough around the edges, but she possesses at least a bit of politeness and discretion. Chantinelle blushes till the top of her hairs, glaring back at the Horansi, "For the last time! She isn't mine! I know her adoptive father and thats all I have any relation for the girl! I just care for her and wont tolerate any mean behavior agaist her! Zia has done nothing toward you or anybody else on this planet! She is purely innocent and wouldn't even understand what we are fighting for." Kaein shakes his head and contines on, in the saming biting tone "I had no intention of becoming involved with /your/ /pet/" he seems to emphisize thous words only cus he know it irriates you "my inital reaction toward her is the same for any horansi i encounter, and i would have left her alone after i determined she was no threat.....but /noooooo/ you had get all up in a tizzy because i had caused your pet some stress and started threating me...that is where you made your mistake" Chantinelle closes her hands to fists on the table, showing her teeths to the feline in a gesture of anger, she growls and says, "I .. iine say .. _I_ started it? You scared her nearly grroat death and no matter _WHO_ rotan is. yarantha I see e'ran yolyne behavior I will cheretz it."", in Horansi. Kaein chuckes to him self at the humans emotions as they run wild "I frankly don't care who she is..and i wasn't 100 happy when i see any horansi. My people still know i am alive....and i wouldent put it past them to try to kill me again." he says flatly "and you are going to do /What/ if you see that behavior??" Chantinelle smirks, "You threated Zia, because you are frightened to be killed by a 15 years old Horansi girl? Oh my.. you boy has really no honor! Zia doesn't know you and will not know you better. And I am just concerned about _bad_ behavior because it lies in my own education I think." Kaein shifts his weight again "she is only a year younger than i" he remarks sullenly "And the kasa make extremely good assassins, even at a young age.." Clarise enters the Sandbar. Clarise has arrived. Chantinelle rolls her eyes in played frustration toward the ceiling of the bar, looking around for the other guests how they react to such propaganda. She shakes her head unbelieving back at the cat, "So you think Zia is an imperial top master assassin sended to kill you? gee, my boy! Be sure you aren't SO important to get even the attention by the Empire itself!" Clarise enters the Sandbar and heads off to a quiet table in the corner. Placing her satchel over the arm of her chair, she sends the waitress off with an order. Shenner isn't that far away, so she's doubtless within earshot of Chantinelle and Kaein's argument. She is not, however, listening, or at least not actively. The redheaded musician does glance in that direction every so often as she tries to read, but if she's paying overt attention, or if she understands the exchange in the Horansi tongue, she's not showing any sign of it. Kaein says, "i did not even realize she was a pet of the empire untill you threatend me" he says smugly "the empire has no reason to come after me"" Clarise isn't surpised that 'some' kind of commotion is going on in this bar. There always seems to be. She does her best to keep out of it, though, sitting back in her chair and keeping her eyes to her menu as the waitress converses with Ariani regarding the ordered beverage. Troy enters the Sandbar. Troy has arrived. Clarise is sitting by herself at a lone table in the corner, reading a menu. Troy walks into the bar, with a smile on his face, and a cigar in his mouth..he looks around the room. Chantinelle hmmpfts "Boy, even if you are young, you should know the right behavior toward a young girl! No matter she is in imperial possesion or not! I just can't stand any bad behavior toward a kid and you contiuned this behavior despite my warnings." Troy Walks towards the Bar... Shenner hasn't moved from her place at the bar, her green gaze back down on the weighty tome before her. If she's paying attention to the argument going on between Chantinelle and Kaein, she's giving no sign of it. Kaein exhales slowly his face finly showing a sign of emotion, sligtly amused "You act like i want to take the Kasa as a mate...well i assure you that it is not among my motives" Troy goes and sits beside Shenner and quietly says to her..as not to jolt her from her studies "Sorry about haveing ta run out on yeah lass...needed ta work on some shipping orders with the local freight guild.." then Gives Ariani a smile "Can i Get another cup o'coffee again..Black and no sweetner." Shenner looks up, a grin returning to her face, at least a small one. "Hey, no problem, business is business, huh?" Ariani in the meantime keeps a surreptitious eye on the argumentative pair, while readily getting fresh coffee for McTavish. Troy returns Shenner Smile with a large Grin of his own, wich is not uncommon for him, "So i see yeah get'n some more studying in.....what are yeah trying ta learn now?" said in a truly interested sort of tone. but he looks out of the corner of his eye and see's Kaein talking about Mateing something. Chantinelle baaahs and shows a displeased expression on her face, "I do not _Care_ even, what you want to do! I simply care what you did!" she siighs and stands up slowly, brushing some invisble dirt from her uniform jacket, controling her holster too. "I think we disturb her other guests here... shouldn't we speak outdoors?" Kaein nods "yes, the barkeep is already mad enough at me....but i have some business to attend to first, but will be in teh square in 15 minutes if you want to continues this" he says and starts to head to the door.. Shen scoots the book around a bit to let Troy have a better look at it. "It's a history text," she explains to him. "Brushing up on a lot of basic courses I'll have to take at the University." Chantinelle smiles and flashes a wicked smile toward the feline, and says, "Not the square, at the beach , in 15 minutes!"", in Horansi. Kaein nods, not even looking at the lady as he moves out the door. Kaein walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Kaein has left. The waitress brings Clarise a soda in a paper to-go cup, complete with straw and lid. Clarise hands the woman a few credits to cover the drink and a modest tip, and then the woman wanders off once more. Now that Kaein is gone, the woman keeps an eye on Chantinelle in an unobtrusive manner as possible. Troy looks at the Cover of SHen's text "Yikes...no light reading there...." then smiles "So yeah trying ta get inta the Caspar university i take it...yeah think you'll learn alot, or is it gonna be a refresher mostly for yeah?" takes a sip of the rather potent Coffee. Chantinelle walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Chantinelle has left. As Chantinelle leaves, Clarise gives her a few minutes to make her way out of the door, then rises and begins making her way out of the bar, drink in hand. Shenner can be seen to smirk mildly. "Well, given that I've never set foot in a school in my life, I guess I'll be learnin' a lot." She modulates the smirk into more of a smile, then. "I've been doin' _some_ studyin' already, but yeah, I'm goin' to the University of Caspar next term>" Clarise walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Clarise has left. Troy laughs "Bahh...yeah learn more on the road of life..course its hard ta get a job if'n people's is look'n for a nice diploma.." gives Shenner a Eye'd inspection in a joking way "and yeah seem ta me you've gotten a lot of learn'n already done, er atleast alot o'liven anyways" takes a sip of the coffee..and seeing its just right..gives Araini a wink. To that, Shenner gives a short, gruff laugh. "I've been around here and there, yeah." She taps the book with restless fingertips, sitting up a bit straighter, still wearing that cross between a smirk and a smile. "I don't seem like the bookworm type, is that what you're tellin' me?" Troy smiles "Nahh...yea seem ta be the wandering type." gives a shrugg "Course yeah also seem ta be the determined type..so i'm sure your gonna do well in School..but i hope yeah don't be going stir crazy cause o'the walls" sips at his coffee. Titus enters the Sandbar. Titus has arrived. Shenner considers this, peering over at McTavish searchingly, before turning more to face him. From the startled look that crosses her face, it might be guessed that no one has said such things to her before. "What makes you think I'm the wandering type?" she asks, half-bemused, half-intrigued. Titus blinks sharply at the change in light, trying too discern the layout of the room. Frowning irritably he ignores the other customers and heads towards the bar. Two of the customers in immediate sight are at the bar already: Shenner and Troy, in conversation. Before the redheaded young woman rests a sizeable textbook, and she has one hand resting idly upon it. Ariani, in the meantime, turns to greet the newcomer and take his order. Titus leans on the bar, gripping the edge tightly. He scans the various beverages quickly, pointing out a dark blue bottle too Ariani, "If you would be so kind.." he says. Titus looks at you for a moment. "Sure thing," is the bartender's steady reply to Titus, as she moves to oblige him. Titus Darkness. A shadow which prevents and obstructs light. The figure before you embodies these elements, from his dark boots and trousers, to the formless jumper underneath his old and worn wool jacket. His hair is short, grey and slightly spiky, his face covered in a slight stubble. However his dark purple eyes, and average height emit a greater complexity to his personality. His facial features are well defined, though a slight twitch in his left eye is disturbing, and he has a slightly bent nose. A small scar is also visible under his right eye, though it appears and dissappears with the movement of the light. Titus waits for his drink impatiently, muttering something about poor service. He pays little attention too anything else. A small twitch begins too flicker in the corner of his eye as he taps the bar with agitation. Ariani's service isn't _that_ poor, and the bar isn't that big, either, so it doesn't take her long to fulfill the man's request. She lifts an eyebrow and peers at him levelly as she brings up the bottle he's pointed out. Titus nods slightly, acknowledging Ariani's unspoken question. He lowers himself into a bar-stool and removes a datapad from a pocket. That dealt with, then, Ariani moves off to attend more of what customers are in the establishment. Every so often she glances over to Shenner as the girl converses with Troy, with a kind of big-sisterly interest in the redhead's conversation. Ressec is in a miserable looking mood. The only joy to him seems to be the complex little gadget hes fiddling with and the half empty jar of Nar Shadda beer lying on the counter next to him. Titus gives a short, reluctant smile too Ariana before returning to jabbing at his datapad irritably. He chews on the corner of his lip, idly taking sips from the long glass of blue liquid. Troy gives Shenner a Simple smile "Well Yeah kinda reminde me of me alittle, not wanting to let life grow..well predictable.." gives a slight shrug, not really good with words he kinda gives up. Shenner gives a bit of a chuckle. "I'll tell ya, pal," she drawls, "I don't mind preditable, at least for a little while." Her green gaze goes a little dark, and she turns to call over her shoulder, "Hey, 'Ani, howsabout a cider?" The bartender nods amiably -- first to Titus, then to the redhead. Ariani lopes over to pour Shen's preferred drink up for her. And Shen, in the meantime, adds to Troy, "I wanna be a xenomusicologist, and well, I gotta go to school for that. It may well drive me nuts, but well hey. Guess I'll find out." Titus seems agitated by the open conversation taking place, and attempts to edge himself away from the small party. He shifts down a few seats, and leans over his notepad protectively. Troy gives Shen a Smile "Aye..predictable is nice for abit...until yeah get the bug again ta do somethin'n else.." laughs "thats why i got so many things on the go myself..heck if'n i didn't have ta sleep i'd be doing more.." and then laughs a little at Shen's statement about the school driving her nuts "Well Lass if'n it starts ta get ta yeah..give the Old Captain her a call..and well go and turn the town upside down or something so yeah can let lose alitte." laughs slightly, but with sincerity. Dark red eyebrows crook up, and Shenner blinks a few times at Troy, slightly taken aback by the offer. It would seem that Ariani, too, is rather taken aback, and the bartender peers with undisguised interest over at the young musician, apparently eager to see how Shen is going to respond to that. The response that finally comes is delivered with slightly widened eyes, and a bemused, quirked grin. "What, you'd take me... er... out?" Troy smiles and says "well of course i'd take yeah out...heck your kinda like the sister i ain't ever had.." smiles "Hell i was kinda woundering why some man hasn't scooped yeah up yet and sweepte yeah off your feet yet.." Titus runs his hand through his hair, propping his head up on the bar. He jabs several times at his datapad, damaging several keys in the process. This illicites an suspicous stare from Ariani as he glances irritably at the other occupants of the bar. Muttering too himself he rises from his seat, making it known that he is perturbed by the idle chatter invading his thoughts and walks over too a booth for a little more privacy. He bangs his datapad against his thigh, and is eventually enveloped by the shadows of the booth. The strange little gadget in Ressec's hand starts to beep and light up, then one of the tubes starts to smook and the beeps turn into a strange nose-like a muffled Deffel screaming. Finaly, after several tries to shut the thing up, an angry look (for a Quarren that is) passes over the face of the large Quarren and he cruses the fragile machine that he spent all afternoon working on and puts the remains in a pocket while muttering an frustrated comment in his native toung. _Uh oh,_ is the probable best way to translate the look that crosses the face of Ariani. Shenner, in the meantime, loses all trace of a smile upon her own visage, turning abruptly to seize the cider that the older woman has brought her. It takes her a moment, in which she belts down a large swallow of the fermented stuff, before she tells Troy in rough, short tones, "Been there. Done that." Troy see's he is touching on territory he should tread lightly "Aye...have'nt we all.." Gives Shenner one of his Wry grins "Yeah still must be beatn't the men off with a stick.." gives her a joking smile..telling shenner he's being playfull nad not really trying to pry. Finaly, unable to hold the frustration at the little device, Ressec gets up from the bar and walks to the door, leaving some credits on the table. Ressec walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Ressec has left. Troy McTavish might not be trying to pry, but still, Shenner chokes on a swallow of cider. Ariani has to struggle valiantly not to grin hugely, while the redheaded girl turns and just _stares_ in utter bewilderment at the man beside her. "'Scuse me?" she asks, not entirely sure she heard him correctly. Troy finishes off his Drink and gives Shen a smile "Well lass your a good looking Girl..and i'm sure if'n yeah asked around you'd see i'm not the only one who can see it in yeah..." steps off the stole "Heck if'n i didn't like you so much and go after you myself.." give Shen a wink "but biz calls and i must listen....mabey i'll see yeah tonight after i get back from my action." Shen just... gapes. It's rather apparent that Troy's unnerved her. "Uh... right," she croaks. [And shortly...] Chantinelle has arrived. Chantinelle comes in with a red head, cursing softly, she heads back to her table, looking for her glass she left there. The table's been cleaned up -- this is, after all, a bar, and the waitresses don't leave things abandoned on tables for long. The place is fairly quiet again, though, with only the redheaded girl parked at the bar, looking rather thunderstruck. Chantinelle siiighs and waves to the girl to order another mineral water, she sits down and releases a long siiiiigh, leanign back on her chair and putting her boots onthe table. The mineral water is, in short order, provided. Chantinelle's presence nevertheless makes the waitress who brings it to her glance at the door, almost as if she expects the argumentative Horansi to be following her in. Chantinelle's fingers trembles lsightly as she catches the glass, as being in a rush before. Chanti closes her eyes and clams down slowly, trying to relax inthe calm of the bar. Shenner, in the meantime, drains off the last of her cider, thunks it down on the bartop, and then thunks her elbows down there and plops her head into both her hands. Chantinelle yawns loudly as the adrynalin leaves finally her body. She opens her eyes again and looks around, seeing the musician at the bar, opening her mouth to ask her for a play as she sees her head sinking. Chanti frowns and watches the girl carefully, asking softly, "M'Lady, some problem?" Shenner starts, blinks around, and says by reflex, "Don't call me that," her brows crinkling together. Titus stuffs his data pad in the pocket of his Woolen jacket. He chews slowly on his lip as he rises from his chair, giving a last irritated look at the occupants of the bar. He smiles thinly, overhearing the occupants conversation, but then continues in his way, careful not too look at the obvious Imperial servant. Chantinelle hmms and searches in her mind what she said wrong _this_ time. As she gets it, she smiles and blushes, "Um sorry. Miss?" she chuckles "Well Ma'am woldn't fit too, I think." "I answer to Shen," says the girl, gruffly. "That'll do." Titus is silouhetted for a moment in the bright light of the doorway before becoming another shadow in the crowds of the street. Titus walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Titus has left. Chantinelle oohs and raises quickly a hand to show her empty palm in a gesture of peace, "Oh please.. I didn't wanted to insult you, Mi...um Shen!" she says in a friendly voice. "But you seemed troubled?" "It'll pass," is the redhead's reply. Something of the rough edge retreats from her voice, in acknowledgement of the peacable gesture. Chantinelle brings her boots down from the table, leaving some sand on the plate as she stands up and moves to the bar, sclimbing on a bar chair beside the young woman, "What will pass? you want to talk about it?" Chantinelle A young female human. She wears a crimson Imperial uniform in the rank of a Vice-Director, which is tight cutted and reveals the outline of her body. She has got short, black hair barely framing her smooth, oval face. The woman is truly gifted with incredible good looks. She has a small nice nose and full red lips. It's the face of the famous Holovid star Chantinelle Thistleborn. There is a small black leather belt around her tight hip. Clipped to her belt is a Diplomatic Pass, proving her to have full diplomatic credentials across the galaxy. A holster of a standard imperial blaster is attachted at the left side of her belt, too. A small white patch at her left breast introduces the woman as member of the famous BofO. The patch is embroidered with gold and has got in its center a coiled black snake. -=-=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=-=- => Vibro-Axe => DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol -=-=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=-=- => Note: read me(#9394Vn) Shenner peers round at the woman, her brows still drawn together, something niggling at the back of her memory. "Nothin' much to say about it," she answers, "except that men are weird." "You got that right, kiddo," drawls Ariani, pouring up an ale to hand off to another waitress. Chantinelle ooh yeahs and nods to Ariani, showing an expression she totally agree to this, "Thats a fact!" she smirks into her drink, "Oh damned, get me somehting which kills the cells here!" pointing with a finger on her forehead, "We were basicly born with some nerv cells, but them!!!" she smirks, "Men aren't even able to think!" "Well, name your brew," says the bartender, gesturing up and down her inventory behind her. Shenner, her pale brow still furrowed, is not entirely willing to dismiss the male half of her species as entirely unthinking, though. "They think," she mutters, "but damned if I can figure out how sometimes..." Chantinelle oohs and looks with wide eyes on the large rows of bottles at the bar, "I .. i.. didn't drink since I left Tat! I have now idea whats a common drink here? you serve some "Krayt blood"? It's my favourite on Tat." she smiles remembering her time there. Chanti smirks and pokes Shenner softly with an elbow into her ribs, "Hey cheer up, there is now reason to understand them! Trust me!" Dekker enters the Sandbar. Dekker has arrived. Dekker opens the door to the Sandbar. He scans the room for familliar faces and then takes a seatt Ressec is sitting at the bar with a half empty Nar Shadda beer in his hand, as is the usual. "I'll see what I can do," says Ariani, stepping over to check her wares, to see if she's got the necessary ingredients to make up what goes into a Krayt Blood. Shen, in the meantime, half-smiles a bit, peering sidelong at Chantinelle, just a touch warily, though without any hostility. Chantinelle looks intressted how Ariani mixes the drink. She turns around to offer another smile at Shenner, "Want to tell about it?" she softly asks and looks asking at her. "Sometimes it helps to speak about it." Shenner shrugs, turning to stare down absently at the still-open textbook lying before her on the bar. "Not much to tell," she says tersely, fiddling with one of the pages. "McTavish just wanted to know if I was... beating the men off with sticks, is all." Chantinelle hmms and frowns, not understanding the question at all, "beating the men with sticks? Why should you? Heee?" she stammers and makes and not understanding grimace, "I dont get it." Shenner's eyebrows go up. She looks Chantinelle up and down, glimmers of memory making her seem more familiar now, though the redheaded musician still doesn't let on to that. "You're... kiddin' me, right?" she asks after a moment, just to make sure. "It's... look, lady, it's... slang. It means..." "It means McTavish wanted to know if she had so many admirers she had to hit them with a stick to make them go away," puts in Ariani straightfacedly, presenting Chantinelle with her best approximation of a Krayt Blood. As she thusly identifies it. "It's my best approximation, I think. Don't have all the ingredients here; can't import them all from Tatooine." Chantinelle sips slowly on the glass, first very carefully just to let a droplet roll over her tongue to taste the flavor then, with a wide smile on her lips, sipping more and more, "Oh my, this stuff _is_ good!" while she listens to Ariani. She nods understanding now and turns back to Shenner, "Hmmm I think he meant it as compliment. He wanted only to be polite to you." Ariani grins her appreciation, settling down to jot some notes into her personal datapad as to how she produced that concoction, while Shen waves a hand. "Yeah... yeah, I know that," she mutters. Chantinelle hmms and still misses the point, "Then why so down? Show your smile to the Mister and thank him for his compliment!" she says softly, between her sipps, since she doesn't want to give her drink away anymore, "I just looooove this drink!" she thanx Ariani whole-hearted. Dekker gets up from his seat and moves towards the door.. seemingly disgruntled as to being stood up. Dekker walks out of the Sandbar and the door closes automatically. Dekker has left. Shenner grins a bit, then rises, and mutters, "Or somethin' like that... look, uh, 'scuse me? I gotta run off and return this to the library..." She scoops up the textbook she'd been trying to read. Chantinelle nods slightly to the young womand and takes a peek at the book before she closes it, she says, "Sure.. take your time... I will just enjoy this wonderful drink here, thanx to the bartender!" Shenner smiles a little, and, book in hand, slips out of the bar. [End log.]
