Calmwind comes to see Trollkiller about Wayfound. This takes place IC before the search when Rillwhisper is found, but was played after - it should have happened 1 or 2 January 2000, but didn't play until the 4th. Players and characters: Calmwind, Trollkiller. ----- begin log ----- Southern Hall(#280RJa) Sheer elegance of size unfolds before you. The Southern Hall, entrance to Blue Mountain, expands upwards into a dark indigo, slowly falling back down in lighter hues, mauve just overhead and a damp pink at foot. Carved and shaped from the stone, hawks and falcons adorn the walls near the entrance. Stone ivy, tainted with a vibrant green and brown of shaping magic, slowly progresses towards the north, first intermingling with real flora, then disappearing behind what could only be lush vegetation for a cavern. To the west, a staircase forms an octagon as it angles down in a colorful and playful design of color. Although the bottom step shares the same rich blue stone as the floor, each consecutive step shifts hues until the last reaches a deep green, leading into the shadows of an arch. To the southeast, another arch decends into a grotto, night-sky blue pillars shouldering either side. The air is fresh and clean, a breeze blowing through unseen places high above. A rich sweetness of vegetation rolls in through the northern arch. Overhead, shadowy bridges span the eastern and western walls, drawn from the very stone. Although lit well enough to make out the distinct details of the hall, the huge space echoes voices and footsteps several times, contributing to the immenseness of Blue Mountain. Calmwind makes his way into the cavern, looking around intensely. Trollkiller is asleep, of course - that's mostly what he does these days, when he's not out searching. Occasionally something interrupts him - but not a lot. He's not even playing with the Gliders. Much. Calmwind crosses to the elder elf and sits on his heels near his sleeping form, studying him thoughtfully, before he extends a gentle tendril of thought. ** Trollkiller? ** Trollkiller is nuzzled up against Woodhawk, quite asleep. Rainfire is spooned up against his back, and there's furs everywhere. But even so... there's... well, not a response. Almost a fraction of one, tho'. Calmwind blows out his breath and throws himself down across the foot of the furs to lay across the legs of the three. He sends, ** Need to talk about Wayfound... She's getting sick... ** Trollkiller fhrpfhrh? hfnmffhfn? ** Hrmph? Hrm? What? Wayfound? Sick? What? ** There's an earnest concern for the cub in Calmwind's thoughts. ** She'd never admit it, but the lack of trees and wind and /outdoors/ is... making her sad all the time. She doesn't have her usual energy. ** Trollkiller slumps back. ** Oh. ** He thought you meant _sick_ sick. Needing a healer sick. His head goes right back down onto the furs. ** I don't think any of us are all that fond of all this rock. A few don't mind, a few mind a lot... probably a couple like it, for all I know. ** Calmwind sighs. Clearly he's pretty worried about his young friend. ** I don't like it. ** His sending is flat. ** But she is... ** He fails to find words and settles for sending an image, very privately, of Wayfound sobbing in his arms. Trollkiller ohs. And sighs. ** I'll... talk to her, I guess. There's not a lot we can do, though. Not yet. ** Calmwind shakes his head. ** No! No, please. Just... let her go searching with you? ** Trollkiller sends, ** It'd... help if... what? ** Trollkiller sends, ** Um. I... guess I don't see why not. It's swampland now. ** It still hurts to send that, quite a bit. ** But it's not particularly more dangerous than most... except in what we might find... ** He considers that. But he knows Rillwhisper is still alive, even though he himself finds it hard to imagine how. So there's no danger of a particularly horrific discovery... Calmwind springs to his feet. ** She would be outdoors, and it would give her something to do. She feels useless and unwanted now, and she misses her mother so much... ** Trollkiller nods, looking up again. ** She's but to ask. ** All at once, the passion goes out of Calmwind and he drops in a pile of limbs on the furs. ** I think she took your instructions on wandering the Mountain to mean she could not help. ** His mental 'voice' is wry with amusement and affection for the cub. ** She is so serious. ** Trollkiller sighs. ** I don't see how. But... it wouldn't be the first time. Okay, fine, I'll bring it to her, then. ** Trollkiller reaches over and rubs Calmwind's leg. ** Thank you for bringing this to me. I'll do what seems best. ** Calmwind smiles tiredly at Trollkiller. ** Thank you so much. ** Trollkiller sends, ** For now, though... I need to sleep. ** Calmwind shakes his hair back. ** Me too. ** Trollkiller pats the furs. ** There's plenty of room. ** Calmwind smiles again and tugs on one of the furs under Trollkiller. ** Maybe just a short nap. She is studying Egg... ** Trollkiller helps Calmwind into the furs, and nuzzles his neck. ** In a while. ** Calmwind gives Trollkiller a quick, tight hug before his eyes drift close under the warmth of Trollkiller's furs. It's clear that he's been exhausting himself just as much as the searchers, perhaps just with nervous tension. Trollkiller rubs Calmwind's chest. He'd probably do more - but as he's just starting to think on it, he's already asleep again... ----- end log -----
