Log Date: 12/29, 12/30/96 Log Cast: Tance, Dreatha, Rosa, Kesya Log Intro: By recommendation of Chief Medic Krellin, Tance, suffering from a broken arm and extremely high resonance, has been shipped up to Shankill Station for some extended sessions in the radiant tanks. Kesya has accompanied him, since Tance had rambled to Krellin about agreeing to go if 'Jade' took him -- as well as to keep an eye on Tance herself. The two have already spent some amount of time in the radiant tanks in the Shankill Guild complex, and after several hours of such, Tance has begun to return to a more coherent state, while Kesya dozes with him in one of the tubs. Off and on as they've both slept, though, other Singers have been in and out of the room.... ---------- Radiant Tub Room This large room is dominated by the collection of radiant tubs along the walls, each a different color. A soothing pastel green colors the walls, and the floor is carpeted in a deep forest green. Holos are strategically placed to occupy the idle minds of any singers who are spending long hours here, either voluntarily or under medical orders. A collection of potted plants fill the corners, all of imported varieties. Contents: Maple Bath Chocolate Bath Butterscotch Bath Beige Bath Obvious exits: Dressing Room Infirmary Tance, with a yawn, clambers out of one of the other tubs. Blearily, he reaches around to the controls to reheat the fluid. Maple Bath You are in a large, maple tank. It is deep and long; plenty of room for an adult to stretch out their legs. The top edges round gently outwards. The head of the tub sprouts an unusual number of taps and dials. The radiant liquid rests heavy against your skin, filling your pores. The fluid is pleasantly hot. You slide into the tub, forcing your sore muscles to move just a bit more. You slip the harness over your shoulders to prevent slipping beneath the fluid. Outside the bath, Rosa walks through the archway into the radiant tub alcove. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Dreatha sighs softly and shifts as far as the harness will allow at the sound of the spattering fluid filling an adjoining tank, still quite alseep. Outside the bath, Rosa stomps into the room, grumbling under her breath. Tucked securely under one arm is a plush pink bear. Tance shifts restlessly in the tank he's soaking in; near him soaks the slumbering green form of Kesya As'shoriah. "Jade?" he mumbles vaguely, before registering Kesya's nearby presence, then, tiredly, Tance looks around the room. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Dreatha slips out of the harness. Outside the bath, Dreatha climbs from the chocolate tub, the radiant liquid dripping from her body. Outside the bath, The sensors detect that the tub is empty and drains the spent liquid automatically. Outside the bath, Dreatha climbs sleepily out of the tank, and with a brief wave heads for the dressing room. Outside the bath, Dreatha walks out through the archway into the infirmary. Outside the bath, Rosa blinks as she sets the bear down before disrobing. "Jade?" She asks. "No, don't see any of that here. What're you up here for?" She windes as she pulls her tunic off, muttering about sharding cutters. Tance blinks glassily. People. He sits up a little, staring bemusedly at the new arrival. "Hadda soak," he observes. Outside the bath, Rosa snorts. "Don't we all? Fardling medics don't know what they're talking about." She bends to give the stuffed bear a hug before filling one nof the baths. "Ordered me up here to soak just as I actually found a good vein." Somewhat baffledly, the man in the maple tank watches who he assumes _must_ be a younger Singer... and he finally says blankly, "I, um... I was with the medics...." From his tone, he might be trying to give this other Singer information, or he might be trying to remind himself. Outside the bath, Fiddling with the taps on the chocolate bath, Rosa pulls up her hair, muttering again about cutters. "And those cuttertechs aren't any better, you know, silly creatures don't know what reason is." She sighs and leans against the tank, looking back toward the maple bath. "You were with the medics? Really? Which ones?" Tance frowns vaguely, sinking down a little in the tank. "Don't remember," he mutters. Outside the bath, Rosa turns the left tap on the tub and it begins filling with a warm, thick liquid. Outside the bath, Rosa shrugs. "One's much like the next, really. Though they do take care of me, I suppose." She picks the bear up and sets him on the edge of the tank. "Bear likes to keep me company," she explains, "but he doesn't need to soak." Outside the bath, Rosa sets Mr. Bear down reluctantly. Outside the bath, Mr. Bear is placed on a nearby flat surface, his soft head flops to the side, his expression suddenly inquisitive, as he peers up at you. Outside the bath, Rosa eases slowly into the bath. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa slips the harness over her shoulders to prevent slipping beneath the fluid. Tance smiles a bit at the stuffed animal, lopsidedly. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa sinks into the water, looking up at the animal. "He was a gift, you know. And he's actually rather friendly. Keeps me company anyway." Tance, brown gaze shifting from the bear back to its owner, smiles a bit again. "That's, um, nice. Company, I mean." Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa sighs as she leans back against the edge of the tub. "Well," she comments dryly, "it's better than claimjumpers, I suppose." She glances toward the maple bath. "Do you have one? A bear, I mean?" Tance blinks. "Should I?" Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa chuckles softly. "I'd recommend it. Shana gave me this one." She sits up, and looks for several moments between the occupant of the other tub and her bear. "Of course, if you were nice, Bear might stay with you a bit if you'd like." Again, the dark-eyed man blinks. "Um... what's he... for?" Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa slips out of the harness to lean toward the maple bath. "For hugging. For talking to, if you want to." She quirks a wry smile. "Silly as it may seem, I feel a little less alone when I've got Bear with me." Tance eyes the bear bemusedly. "Does he talk back?" Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa closes one eye in a wink. "He does, sometimes. Mostly just reassuring words." She chuckles. "Not at all like the pink bunnies I saw when I was adapting. They never stopped talking." Utterly guilelessly, Tance asks, "You remember that?" Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa rolls her eyes. "I wouldn't be allowed to forget. The bunnies and I went visiting to the others. And," she chuckles, "RenRen and Jascot flirted with the girls." Tance sits up a bit, eyes wide. "Oh," he says, in the exact tone of someone who doesn't understand a thing you're talking about, but is trying to pretend he is. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa chuckles as she leans back in the tub, her eyes distant. "And Tarod, the big one, scared the others. Khagar was the old one. He was just grumbly most of the time. But the did all sing nicely. That much I do remember." "More 'n' I remember," mutters your listener. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa arcs a brow. "Did you keep a record, like they say? That's what helps me remember. Even if it was only a couple of years ago." Tance's face falls a little. "I.... I dunno." And he rolls back in the fluid to lay there against the harness, staring puzzledly up at the ceiling. "I just... I just started putting things in the datapad..." He looks up again, to point at the sleeping green Singer in the tank with him. "She gave me a datapad." He smiles a little, bashfully. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa glances over toward the other bath and smiles a bit. "Perhaps that's a good idea, she comments softly. And spending time with people would probably be nice too." Tance shifts a little again in the tank, looking vaguely embarrassed, and more than a little bothered by the suggestion. "Wouldn't know how," he mutters. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa leans her chin against the edge of her tub, right next to her bear. "Well, you're talking to me, aren't you?" Tance blinks again, then allows, "I... guess so. Yeah." Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa smiles impishly. "Talking's really kind of a fun thing to do, you know. And if you're a friend of Kesya's, you must be okay." She cocks her head, looking at her bear for a moment, then nods before looking back to the other tub. "And Bear says he likes you." "Kesya... Kes... that's, that's Jade." The man suddenly shyly smiles again, glancing at Kesya's dozing form. Then he blinks back at the bear and its owner, grinning a little more. "Um, if you, um, say so..." Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa nods, smiling. "And she's really nice, too. Bought me a meal right after I adapted." Her smile brightens. "Maybe after you soak sometime, the four of us can go get some nice ale." Tance responds as though by ingrained habit, face falling slightly, "I don't have any credits." Then he blinks and vaguely smiles again, agreeing, "Jade's nice...!" His brown gaze turns to the other form in the tub. Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa leans over the edge of her tub. "I just foun a nice yellow vein. I'll buy for everyone." She then glances toward the dozing Singer. "She /is/ nice. And I think you're okay too." Tance stares. "But... but I don't remember you....?" Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa shakes her head. "No reason you should. At least I don't think so. My name's rosa, and I'm pretty new around here." You say "Oh... I'm, uh, Tance, and I've been... around a long time. Long time...." Outside the bath, From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa smiles gently. "It's nice to meet you, Tance. And I do hope we get that chance for an ale. It would be nice." Tance grins again, then mutters suddenly, "Cold...." Testing the fluid with his right hand, he grimaces at it, then moves to clamber out, still using just his right hand. You slip out of the harness. You step from the tub, the radiant liquid sleeting from your rejuvenated and revived body. Radiant Tub Room Contents: Baby Pink Bear Maple Bath Chocolate Bath Butterscotch Bath Beige Bath Obvious exits: Dressing Room Infirmary Tance, as he emerges, can be seen to have a cast on his left arm. From the chocolate radiant bath, Rosa slips out of the harness. Rosa climbs from the chocolate tub, the radiant liquid dripping from her body. Rosa has arrived. Tance leans against the tub for a minute, perhaps to catch his breath, before sinking down on a stool next to the thing. There's a pile of tattered clothing there, which he starts pulling onto his thin, scarred frame -- awkward to do so, with one arm. Rosa hops from her tub and dries herself off, slipping into her clothes. "You know," she comments, "it was really nice talking to you. Maybe I'll have to get sent up here longer and more often if you're here to talk to." Sitting down, she tugs on her boots. "Doing okay, Tance?" Tance blinks up at you, and says plaintively, "I, I broke my arm." He then considers and adds, "I don't know what I ought to be doing next... except wait for Jade..." In the midst of wrestling himself into an undershirt, he glances at the sleeping Kesya, and his weathered face softens. Rosa stands and takes a few steps toward you. "Would you maybe like a little help? Broken arms are really awkward." She pauses as she notices the look toward the sleeping Singer. "I could wait with you, if you like." "Sure... public room..." The man bobs his greying head at you, a trifle scatteredly. "I think it'd be nice," Rosa says quietly. "And we could save an ale for Kesya. Or bring one in here for her." Tance considers this earnestly, then confesses, "I dunno if she likes ale..." "Well," Rosa says after a pause, "we could bring some wine in too. Or maybe some fudge. That's good too." Still halfway in the middle of trying to put on his undershirt, the older Singer looks up at you anxiously. "You think so? I been... I wanna get her something. Something nice... she keeps giving me stuff... ain't got the credits, though..." His brow furrows. Rosa leans against a nearby tub, one hand sinking into the furry plush of her bear's head. "Well," she says, "Kesya's been really nice to me too. We could both pick something out for her. And you could pay me back later." From the Maple Bath, Kesya stirs in the viscous fluid, her eyes fluttering open. Tance says awkwardly, "I don't... I don't know what to get...." Then he blushes and tells Rosa, "I won't remember to pay you back, either, girlie..." Rosa lifts her shoulders in a shrug. "I'll probably forget to ask you for it anyway. And my name's Rosa." She smiles, giving her bear a hug. "Maybe a nice meal just delivered for her. With some of that ice cream?" Tance abruptly grins broadly. "Peach!" Rosa beams. "That's the stuff! Isn't it delicious? I bet she'd like that -- a nice big bowl of peach ice cream." Tance brightens, evidently comforted by this nice young woman with her bear. "I like peach too," he confides, then trails off and looks bemused once more. "Other food too?" Baby Pink Bear has left. Rosa picks up the Mr. Bear and hugs him tightly. From the Maple Bath, The green-skinned singer's eyes close again, as she savours the feel of the radiant fluid. She remains oblivious to anything around her. Rosa tucks the bear under her arm. "Well, anyone who likes peach can't be half bad." She grins, then adds, "Doesn't Kesya like to draw a lot? Maybe a drawing pencil if we could find one?" Tance straightens a little at the mention of drawing. His head tilts, and he turns to stare at Kesya's sleeping face, searchingly, perhaps trying to remember something? "Drawing," he echoes, half to himself. "Drawing...? Something..." Then, all at once, Tance radiantly smiles and looks back at the bear-bearing Singer. "She drew me!" he pronounces delightedly. Rosa straightens the bow around her bear's neck and smiles at the sudden exclamation. "Well, then, an artist's pencil and maybe some paper would probably be a very nice gift for her." Tance considers this, nodding rapidly, perhaps to Rosa and perhaps to himself. "I better put it in the pad... um..." He starts to get up, realizes he's still half-tangled in his undershirt, and winces as he tries to get it on past his cast-encased arm. "We could go look right away," Rosa suggests, pushing off from the tub, then pausing as she notices Tance's clothing predicament. "Wnat me to help you get that over your cast?" "Fell on it," mumbles the older Singer, sheepishly. From the Maple Bath, a fluid-coated arm appears, as Kesya stretches languidly. She hmmms to herself, waking up slowly, testing her limbs after being so long asleep. Rosa's brows knit in a frown. "Bet it hurt. Fell on my cutter once. That /really/ hurt. Tance starts, then, and swings his gaze around at the sound of Kesya's movement. "Jade?" he breathes hopefully. From the Maple Bath, Kesya's eyes open, and she cranes her neck around to peer at the source of Tance's voice. "Mrm. I'm awake, Tance. Finally." She fumbles with the harness, slipping out of it. Rosa takes a half step back as she sees Kesya waking. "We could check on it later, Tance," she murmurs softly. From the Maple Bath, Kesya starts as she hears another voice in the room, and her blue eyes appear above the rim for a moment. "Oh, hello Rosa. You de-rezzing too?" Tance nods rapidly to Rosa, then beams. "Jade." Rosa pats the plush head of the bear under her arm. "I was. And managed to have a very nice talk with Tance too. You doing okay?" Kesya nods, pulling herself from the tank. Radient fluid sheets off her as she snags a towel from a nearby hook, wrapping it about her. "I'm doing much better, now that my resonance is down." She smiles at Tance, "And now that I've slept." Tance once more smiles radiantly, apparently having forgotten that he's still only half-wearing his tattered undershirt. Rosa gives the bear she carries a little hug. "I know how you feel. And," she adds, taking a step toward the door, "I think maybe I'll find a place to go off and get a little more sleep. See you tomorrow, Tance?" Kesya lays a hand on Tance's shoulder, experimentally. "You're feeling better too." She arches a brow at the way he's dressed, amusement in her eyes as her lips press together to quash a smile. "I guess we both need something new to wear. There's no /way/ I'm getting back into that old jumpsuit." Tance nods wide-eyedly to Rosa, then blinks. "New?" he repeats, looking down at himself. Rosa smiles jauntily at the other two Singers, and waves. "Have fun with the shopping, and I'll see you both later. Take care!" Rosa walks out through the archway into the infirmary. Rosa has left. Kesya nods, turning thoughtfully towards the door. "The infirmary will have a computer we can order something on." Her damp hair hangs down her back as she looks over her shoulder at you, a thought occuring. She explains, "I've a few things to take care of while I'm here, and as a department head, a few people to see too. So have to look presentable. And since you're here with me..." She shrugs, grinning. "So do you. So we're going shopping." Tance blinks at several of those words, and actively gapes at 'department head'. "You... you're what? But... but I'm not..." Kesya tucks the towel end under her arm, deftly snitching another to use on her hair. She pauses, towel in hand, to look at you quizically. "You're not what?" "Department head!" More brown blinks. "You're a department head? Did... did you tell me that?" Those blue eyes gaze thoughtfully at the floor for a moment. "You know... I don't think it came up. You /did/ know I was in training, right?" Kesya adds cheerfully, "Well, Shana and I run the Training department. It's why I hadn't been able to get to the Ranges for so long." She wrinkles her nose, sighing. "But Shana's in rough shape, so it's just me for now." Tance watches you, looking vaguely overwhelmed, now. "I dunno... I dunno if I knew that," he finally stammers out. A vaguely disturbed expression crosses Kesya's delicate features. "Does... does that bother you?" Tance immediately shakes his head, then pauses, looking at you awedly. "You're... really important." Kesya casts you a stunned look, and abruptly bursts into peals of laughter. "Important! That's funny!" She giggles still, grinning widely at you. "Tance, I'm just like anybody else on this mudball." Tance starts grinning shyly, on one side of his mouth. "No you ain't... you're green." Kesya quiets a little, nodding sagely at your words. "Ah... there /is/ that. But I'm not the only green one in the Guild." She begins to walk towards the infirmary, towel-clad. Tance blinks yet again, apparently taken aback by this. "Oh," he murmurs, as if having just been handed a major revelation. Kesya pads towards the infirmary, gesturing to you to follow. "Ready to shop?" Kesya walks out through the archway into the infirmary. Kesya has left. You walk through the archway into the infirmary. Shankill Infirmary The Shankill branch of the Ballybran infirmary is used explicitly for Singers: it looks much like the Ballybran infirmary in miniature. There is a desk, a few medicine cabinets, a large monitoring station and two beds against the far wall. The monitor here is on. Noone is checked into bed one and Noone is checked into bed two. Contents: Kesya Bio Suit Rack Obvious exits: Radiant Tub Room Corridor Tance scrambles after you, trying to get the rest of his clothes on. "Shop?" he squawks. The towel-clad singer is talking quietly with a medic, who points her towards a computer terminal. She nods her thanks, and begins pressing a few keys. "Yes," she casts over her shoulder. "You thought you were going to wear that cleaning rag you call a shipsuit?" Tance looks down at his disheveled, rumpled, and one-sleeved garb, and says sheepishly, "Um..." Kesya pulls up a selection of men's clothing, and after scrutinizing your appearance for a few moments, she scrolls through outfit after outfit. "I used to be awful at this," she says in idle conversation, eyes on the screen. "But I'll tell you, after staying at Maxims you get an eye for choosing outfits." "Wait," Tance says, coming up behind you. "Wait, you're gonna... Jade, what're you doin'?" Kesya answers blithely, without even pausing in her perusal of mens clothing. "I'm picking you out an outfit. You can choose... I'm just getting us in the right /area/ to look though." "New clothes?!" From the shock in his voice, Tance's evidently flabbergasted by the concept. Kesya chuckles at the tone in your voice, but apparently chooses to ignore the outburst to examine the screen once more. "Ah, these are nice. They'd look good on you, too. You look good in strong, solid colours." She cocks her head at you, and touches the screen, altering the colours of the outfits, one to an indigo blue, one to a brushed green, and one to a charcoal black. "Want to pick one?" "Um..." Tance stares over your shoulder, then, and unsurprisingly, the first word out of his mouth is "Green?" Kesya chuckles softly, as though she expected that response. "That one's nice. It's got little black flecks in it." She looks over her shoulder at you, dark green skin stark against the white towel. "That one then?" "It's up to me? I mean... your money... um..." Tance looks from you to the screen and back again, dazed. Kesya snorts softly. "Well Tance, I'm not your mother. I mean, I'm getting you this for /me/. What would people think with a half-dressed man following me about Shankill? Those FSP delegates would be shocked!" She laughs softly, as she exaggerates the motives behind her current generousity. "But you get to pick. I mean, they're your clothes." Tance still looks shocked. "You want me to stay -- I mean -- if you have to do things, important things?" Kesya laughs softly, reaching up to squeeze your hand. "Of course! You're still a bit buzzy, so you could stand some time up here. And I don't have much to do, but I need to talk with the trainers I have up here and see to some of the new recruits in 2023 that have just arrived. And I'll bet you haven't actually looked around this station in a long while, hrm? It'll be fun." Tance admits, "Don't remember it at all..." Then, at the clasp to his hand, he smiles sheepishly, and confesses as well, "Um... ain't picked out stuff like this in... hells, Jade, I don't know if I remember how." He looks around to find a chair he can roll over, before settling down beside you. Kesya smiles slyly. "Why not all three then?" You can try 'em on and decide later which one to wear first." She taps the screen, which spits forth a message that the clothing will be delivered to the infirmary shortly. She then scrolls to women's clothing, perusing the selections thoughtfully. Tance gapes as you punch in the order for all three outfits, and boggles as he tries to grasp how many articles of clothing that must involved. "All?" Kesya nods, tapping the screen as she scrolls past dresses and filmy gowns. "Sure. Not like you wouldn't use 'em. Here, help me pick out mine." The screen stops at something more Kesya's style, slim-fitting jumpsuits in rich fabrics, two-peice outfits, and flowwy shirts. Tance's brown gaze is drawn to the screen, and he stares at it in overt wonder as the various garments are flicked through. Kesya hrms thoughtfully to herself, and looks over her shoulder at you with an amused smile. "No comment, huh?" Tance then glances back at you, brow crinkled under his slightly shaggy forelock -- the look you've seen him get in the last few weeks when he's trying very hard to think something through. "Brown?" he begins, unsurely. Kesya casts you a thoughtful smile, gazing at you a long moment before peering back at the screen. "That's a good idea," she murmurs. "I don't have much brown stuff right now." She taps the screen on one outfit, then one other. The screen blinks, displaying that same delivery message. The towel-clad singer spins her chair around to face you, a smile crossing her features. "There! They'll be delivered here in a few minutes." Tance offers, "Trying to, um, what goes with green?" Kesya giggles softly, tossing out words. "Er... match? Coordinate?" Tance sheepishly grins. "Yeah. Thought of brown. Like, um, trees." Kesya lets out a hoot of laughter, eyes lighting up. "You mean I'll look like a tree?" She reaches out to squeeze your hand, and adds, "Well. Maybe if I look more like 'em, they wouldn't toss me off their branches so much." Tance grins back, content, perhaps, to sit there hanging on to your hand. A scrawny looking man enters, carrying several parcels. He looks around, eyes searching for someone... and then drops one of the parcels when he spots a half-dressed man talking to a green woman in a towel. After stammering for a minute or two, he manages to thrust his workpad at Kesya for her thumbprint, which she gives readily. Then, of course, he high-tails it out of there. Tance blinks bemusedly at the individual who bolts in and bolts right back out again. And blinks once more at the packages he brought. "Wow." Kesya shrugs noncommittally. "Some people on this station still aren't used to green women," she observes amusedly. "Or half-dressed Crystal Singers." She peers at labels, and puts three packages in your lap. "Okay. Showers are in the dressing room over there, are they not? We need to get cleaned up." "We do?" As the packages are piled on him, Tance stares -- these things are _large_ -- then looks confusedly back up at you. "How come?" Kesya distastefully fingers her hair, and then eyes your scraggly hairdo. "We may have spent the last day soaking, but that doesn't mean we're quite /clean/." _Oh_. Tance lifts his right hand to his hair, pokes at it, then rubs his days-old beard and half-smiles. "A little scruffy-lookin', I guess..." Kesya nods emphatically, and hugs her own packages to her chest. "Right! We must Un-Scruffy." Tance adds ruefully, peeking at you under the strands of grey and brown threatening to drop along his left eye, "I guess I'm not really used t' bein' clean." He rises awkwardly, dropping a package or two, with just one arm to do anything with them. Kesya crouches to pick up your extra parcels, and hugs them to her as she heads back towards the change room. She laughs, eyes dancing as she teases you. "Oh really? With all that dunking in the river you got last time we sang together, I'd have thought you'd be clean for weeks." "River?" As you scurry off, Tance frowns vaguely to himself, then lopes after you and calls baffledly, "What river?" [To be continued....]
