Log Date: 4/26/97 Log Cast: Han Solo, Leia Log Intro: Han Solo and Princess Leia have been reunited following Solo's rescue off Tatooine by Winter and Lando... but Han has been aghast to discover that Leia collapsed out of exhaustion and strain and has been confined to a bed in the local hospital. Promptly fusing himself to his wife's bedside, Solo has paid little attention to his own desperate need for rest, to the point that Lando Calrissian has been able to realize that his old friend is exhausted. Lando's gotten the hospital personnel to bring another bed into Leia's room, as close to Leia's as it can get... and Han, convinced to do so only when Lando has asked him to do it for Leia, has collapsed down beside her for some sleep. But it's a troubled sleep he gets.... ---------- The room has changed. Someone has brought another bed into the room, and on it, Han lies curled up, his face turned to his wife nearby and drawn into tight anxious lines, his clothes disheveled by his slumber. Leia stirs again and her eyelids slowly open, taking in the soft lighting of the room with a half-opened gaze. She turns her head to the side and her warm brown gaze falls upon the sleeping figure of her husband, causing a soft smile to form upon her lips. Han is frowning tautly as he sleeps, and as Leia turns her gaze to him, his head twitches ever so slightly; his right hand fumbles down to his thigh, as if to reach for a blaster that isn't there. Eyes of brown are opened more fully now, the last bit of tiredness left over from a good period of rest fading from Leia's face and being replaced now by a look of studious concern as she watches the Corellian sleep. She turns to her side and shifts to more of a sitting position as she watches him, ignoring the nurses, doctors and medical droids moving about the room around her. His fingers shake at a blaster's absence. Han frowns more deeply, expression turning visibly pained, and his mouth moves without producing sound. Sitting up fully now, Leia's studious gaze shifts to one of quiet concern. After a moment of silent, internal debate she leans slightly in the direction of his bed and whispers, "Han.." Only when the Princess leans closer to her husband can she hear him mumble, "Chewie... gemme outta here... Chewie?" Leia's brow wrinkles at the mumblings of her husband and she speaks up louder now, just a touch, "Han.. Han, wake up." Han's head flicks jerkily back in Leia's direction, and with a short strangled little noise, his eyes fly open. His hazel gaze remains unfocused, wild. Leia blinks in surprise and her jaw remains open slightly before she manages to say, "Han, are you all right?" Eyes of brown flicker up for a brief instant to scan the room, settling on half a dozen of the medical staff within reach and mentally filing them away before returning her concerned gaze fully on her husband. Han blinks once, twice, then mutters automatically, "'Mfine..." With that, though, he seems to register the delicate face leaning over him, and an uncharacteristic relief begins to nudge the equally uncharacteristic fright out of his eyes. "Leia..." The name escapes him in a hoarse breath. Leia reaches for Han's hand, squeezing it gently, but firmly, "I'm right here, Han.." The look in her eyes holds the reassurance that everything's all right, or will be. The Corellian blinks up at his wife, then a shadow of his usual crooked grin creeps across his face. "When you gettin' outta here, Your Worship?" he mumbles drowsily. Leia smiles softly upon her husband and comments quietly, "Soon, sometime this evening, I've been told." "Yeah?" Han starts to sit up, propping himself up on his elbows, and his lopsided smile settles a little more firmly into place. "Good. Been dyin' to know if you changed our quarters around..." Leia's soft smile remains upon her face, as does a hint of reassurance in her voice.. the look in her eyes joyed as she speaks to her husband but a glint therein still hints she's concerned about what she witnessed just a moment ago, "Nothing's changed, it's just like we left it.. unless Winter did some redecorating since she returned." Han sits up fully and immediately reaches for his mate, wrapping his arms around her and murmuring into her hair, "Good. Ready when you are, Princess." A brief, tight hug, then he softens it into simply keeping his arms lightly looped around Leia's slender frame. He looks up towards the door, briskly now, as if considering carrying her right out here and now. Leia glances back to the roving bands of nursing staff.. then back to her husband with a smile, "As soon as the doctor gives the final word, we can go. It shouldn't be long now, the nurse said it would be sometime this evening." Looking back at Leia, scowling a bit, Han demands, "Well, so, what're they waitin' on? You're okay, aren'tcha?" The question is brusque, though a trace of that uncharacteristic, uneasy fright lingers behind his eyes. Leia offers a short nod, almost immediately, "Yes.. yes, of course. They're just have to make sure of everything before they let me leave. It's for my own safety." "What's to make sure of?" Han rubs his palm along Leia's cheek, lightly, assuring himself of her health. "You can walk okay, you got rest, right?" Leia nods shortly, "Han, I'm fine, but the doctor wants to be positive." "So let's find the doctor and make 'im -- her? whatever -- positive!" declares Han firmly, looking around the room and waving at the first meditech who goes bustling by. "Hey, you! Get me whoever's in charge of keeping my wife here, will yah?" The medtech pauses and cocks his head in listening to the Corellian, finally offering the man a nod and wandering off to locate said doctor. A moment or so later the medtech returns with a doctor in tow, pointing at the princess and Corellian with a quiet motion. The doctor moves across the room and smiles politely to both, addressing them with a polite nod in greeting, "Good evening Princess, General." He glances over his chart a moment before looking up and giving the princess an appraising glance, "Hmm, well, you certainly look much more rested than before, your charts show the fatigue and stress levels are down significantly. You're free to go, but you need to spend some time relaxing and not let work become an overwhelming factor in your routine so this doesn't happen again." "I'll remind her how to have fun," Solo says firmly, and with a satisfied nod, he grins to the Princess. "So let's get outta here and have some fun, Your Highnessness, whaddya say?" The doctor pauses and eyes the General for a moment, "Sir, if you wouldn't mind, we'd like you to stop back by sometime in the next few days for a physical." Another glance at the Corellian brings him to add, "Standard procedure, I assure you." "No way," retorts Solo, sounding rather more irritated than one might expect to such a casually phrased request. Snapping his forefinger out at the doctor by way of punctuation, he goes on, "Mister, I haven't been home with my wife in six months, and the moment we step out of this place I'm takin' her home and stayin' there!" The doctor frowns slightly and nods, making a note on the chart before him as he does so, "All right, General, but if you happen to be around this way, try and stop in so we can get this paperwork taken care of.." "Yeah, yeah, whatever," growls the General, glowering at the doctor and avoiding Leia's gaze, at least for the moment. "I'll be sure to comm you. So you said the Princess can leave, go get her clothes, okay?" The doctor looks up from the chart again and raises a brow slightly before turning to a passing nurse and mentioning something to him in a quiet voice. The nurse nods and scurries off at once, the doctor saying, "The nurse will collect the Princesses' belongings, and we can have them sent to your quarters if you both would rather us do so." Han still scowls petulantly, but subsides a little, with a brusque, "Uh... good." He then remembers to glance sidelong at Leia, a trifle taken aback that she's been quiet all throughout this. Leia glances over to Han with a quiet look and a soft smile, "Come on, let's go home." She doesn't elaborate, or even comment on the request for a physical for Han at all, but there's a flicker in her eye that definitely denotes she took in all that information and is still processing it internally to bring up at a later date.
