Log Date: 7/10, 7/14, 7/15, 8/21/98 Log Cast: Shenneret Veery, Jindra Langri, Triax Log Intro: (Note: This log immediately follows two-songs.txt, also in Shenner's archive. It is a partial scene and was never finished, but filed here for reference.) Shenneret Veery has found herself with an unusually large audience tonight in the Coral City square: Howie Darklighter, Jindra Langri, Lando Calrissian, and Princess Leia Organa-Solo. Intimidated by the presence of the Princess in a way that the others hadn't brought about, Shen has shyly asked Leia about her brother's welfare, for she's heard of Luke's imprisonment in Imperial hands and his recent return to the NR. Leia has promised to tell Luke for Shen that the young musician hopes he'll be alright. But the unexpected encounter with Leia has reminded Shenner all too clearly of Sinjon Teague's advice to her -- that she should speak with Luke about the apparent Force-inflicted damage in her mind and memory. Determined not to 'bother' Luke if he has only recently escaped the clutches of the Empire, Shenner turns instead to Jindra, as she's overheard the woman being called "doctor". Once the others have left the square, Shen tentatively asks the woman if they can talk, and an interested Jindra agrees.... ---------- Shenner watches the Corellian's departure out of the corner of her eye, then, edgy, peers back over to the older woman. "Um," she begins, ineloquently. "Well, we can talk here, or if you wanna go get anything to eat or something, maybe the Briny Deep? The Urchin's a little swank for street rats..." Jindra chuckles at her comment and says, "Briny Deep? Well, I just thought you may be more comfortable out of the street,but..." she shrugs her shoulders , "but if you wanted to talk here on the bench we can Ms Veery." She snarls her nose, realizing she is sounding very indecisive. "Here's fine, yeah. Um..." The girl kicks her case out of the way, and drops her tote bag down, sinking gingerly back down on one side of the bench. She's still fiddling with the necklace, and she looks up unsurely at the older woman. "So, um. Do you know anything about amnesia?" Jindra takes a seat next to her, never taking her eyes off Shenner. "Well, I do know some yes, " she says, folding her hands in her lap. She does not press the questions, after all, she does not want to make her uncomfortable. Shen manages to prevent herself from looking too relieved, though there's a surge of comfort in the knowledge that this effort isn't going to be entirely fruitless. But she still doesn't quite look at the Major as she nods. Reflexively sliding the little pendant on its chain around her neck on and off her fingers -- that pendant seems to be an ornate ring of some kind, and too big for the girl's fingers -- Shen goes on, "Okay, well. Suppose somebody can't remember somethin', for some reason, what usually causes that?" Jindra takes in a deep breathe and leans back on the bench. She takes a moment to compose her thoughts. Finally she speaks up, "Well, there could be any number of biological reasons ..." she says, pausing in thought for a second. "The most common is probably a head injury...usually some kind of trauma to the cranium, perhaps not even too massive. " She looks back at the woman next to her, "Or...it could be something else." Shenner has begun fiddling with her necklace with both hands, her brow crinkled, her posture tense. "Well, if it's a clonk on the head... does that usually last... long? Say... months?" Nodding her head rather vigorously, Jindra answers the question. "Oh certainly, " she says without hesitation. "Amnesia is a condition that can be difficult to give a prognosis to. It could last much longer than a few months if the damage is severe enough. Ms Veery.....did you, or someone you know suffer from such a head trauma?" Night might have fallen, but the city square is still more than adequately lit to reveal the increasing uneasiness in the musician's young face. She opens her mouth and closes it a few times, her gaze still riveted on the silver-and-bronze ring-like pendant in her restless fingers. "Sorta," she mumbles. Jindra clears her throat and looks toward the fountain and the back to Shenner, "If you have a friend or..if you need some help, I will be glad to offer my assistance." She studies the woman's face, searching for something, though not sure what. "Amnesia can be serious." Under scrutiny, Shenner's features can be seen to have hardened further into stoic lines. She turns her head slightly at the older woman's words, and says huskily, "I can pay ya for your time. I mean, doctors gotta eat..." Jindra shakes her head, "It is not necessary, remember I am in the military." She cracks a smile at Shenner and adds, "Besides, I consider myself a doctor first and foremost....if I can help I will. " The redhead nibbles briefly at her lower lip -- another sign of her young age. She nods once, and then mutters, "Well... it's like this, see? I'm... kinda missin' a month or so..." Jindra sweeps her hand through her hair and peers at Shenner as she releases more information. Finding out the 'patient' is Shenner, Jindra nods her head. "I see, "she begins, "YOu can't remember only one month?" She says in a quiet, soothing voice. "Yeah," mumbles Shenner. "Stuff after that's... kinda blurry in places, but... mostly okay, and well, somebody told me I was really sick, and, um." Her voice is roughening, and she's starting to blush. "It's okay, " she says in calm voice. "Perhaps you should start at the beginning if you can," she suggests. "Where you were perhaps?" she prompts. Shenner murmurs, "Mandalore," her own voice very small. Jindra just sits, not exactly the answer she was expecting. She shifts on the bench and turns to face her again. "Do you remember getting injured there? Or do you know how long you were there before you lost memory of it?" Unconsciously swinging one scuff-booted foot, Shenner considers this, and confides lowly, "Well... I-I only kinda got bits and flashes. I know we got there, and... next thing I know, I'm here, and... near as I can work out, I've lost about a month. I..." Her words grow slightly more unsteady, and she finishes out in a rough burst, "I don't remember what happened there." Jindra listens intently, thinking to herself for a quiet time. She looks down at her hands, as if this will help her think. "Well, " she starts again, "Can you tell me...if you arrived on the planet among friends? Basically is what I am asking is if you remember ...at all..running into those that would cause you harm? I am afraid it may be hard to determine a cause if you really don't know if you were injured." She looks expectantly back toward Shenner. Shenner's nose crinkles, and she admits with palpable reluctance, "There was... me, and a coupla Mandalorians, and... Paul." This name, she pronounces even more reluctantly than the rest of the words she speaks, as if it's difficult for the one syllable to escape her. She touches it and skims on hastily away from it, going on, "We got there, I remember, and we met up with... other Mandalorians. They don't... like humans much, and..." Jindra listens carefully, giving Shenner her full attention. She squints her eyes slightly at the mention of the name Paul, but she does not interrupt. When Shenner finishes her last sentence, Jindra finally speaks. "I see, yes. I have heard that myself about Mandalorians not liking humans. " She nods once as she continues, "It could be a connection but it is hard to diagnose someone by just talking. " She looks toward the fountain for a moment and then slowly turns back to the woman, "Would you consider having some tests done Ms. Veery?" Shenner pulls in a breath, then blows it out, peering sideways at the older woman. "What... kinda tests?" she asks, huskily. Jindra smiles warmly, hoping to encourage Ms Veery's consent. "Oh, just some scans ...at first anyway. Hopefully, we could determine if your memory loss is due to a head trauma. If not, then perhaps we can find another cause. " She folds her hands in lap and keeps her eyes on Shenner, "Won't hurt a bit, " she chuckles. The young musician straightens a little, her features holding their stoic expression -- the kind of look an adolescent is liable to get when trying very hard to pretend she isn't frightened. "Alright," she says brusquely and bluntly, perhaps in a further attempt at that same pretense. "When, and where?" Jindra lets out a rather relieved sigh and nods approvingly. "Well, I am afraid I am not very familiar with Calamari, if there is not a nearby medical facility then perhaps we can use the one onboard the ship." She smiles again and adds, "How long have you been back form Mandalore Ms Veery?" The girl's gaze skitters away again, her mouth curling slightly at the sound of how she's addressed; perhaps this Shenneret Veery isn't accustomed to being called as the doctor is calling her. But she doesn't object, saying instead, her voice slightly rough, "Six months... maybe seven.." There's a hint of uncertainty in the words. A frown appears for a split second on Jindra's face when Shenner tells her just how long it has been. The docotor hides the expression just as quickly as it appeared and the smile now returns. It is sincere enough, true concern for the woman she barely even nows. "Well, that was quite a while back. Have you had any other aches or pains?" she asks, in a calm voice. For a moment, Shen tucks her lower lip under her teeth. It takes her several moments before she grudgingly confides, "Not that I can remember. I've just been... ill." But there's discomfort lurking behind her features; something, perhaps, isn't getting told here, but if that's the case, Shenner is making no effort to elaborate. Jindra peers curiously at Shenner for a moment and then looks toward the fountain again. "Hmmm, " she murmurs, letting a pause linger in the conversation for a moment. She brings her hand to her chin, rubbing it absently before speaking again. "Just ill?" she asks, not exactly happy with such a vague answer. "Any specifices symptoms you can think of?" Her words are hopeful, hoping the young woman will be comfortable enough to share some more information. Shenner's grasp tightens slightly on her pendant, but her hand goes still, and the young woman frowns down towards her guitar case. Her brows wing down pensively over her eyes, and finally, she mutters, "I... wasn't sleeping. I mean... I wasn't sleeping, a _lot_." Jindra keeps her eyes on Shenner even as she looks away toward the instrument case. "I see, " she says, not too surprised by that answer actually. She tilts her head to one side, "Trouble sleeping then?" She shrugs her shoulders and speaks before letting Shener answer, "And then consequently fatigue I would assume..." She looks over the passersby for a moment to allow Shenner to answer. "I figure I was gettin' three hours a night," is Shenner's muttered reply, once more brusque and straightforward. "If I was lucky. 'Cause... I kept dreamin', see, though I couldn't remember any of it." She stops there; the hand gripping the pendant grips it even more tightly. "Ms Veery, " Jindra speaks in a soothing tone, "You have been getting only about three hours sleep for the past six months?" She lowers her head slightly, keeping her eyes looking up at Shenner with concern. Her eyes dart toward the hand gripping the pendant and then focuses back on Shenner's face. The younger woman might be speaking just a trifle hastily as she glances over, but she replies steadily nevertheless, "Well, aside from the last month or so. See..." Shenner pauses, her gaze swinging fully round to the doctor beside her. And the redheaded musician considers for a moment, while the night breeze toys with the hair escaping her braid, before asking abruptly, "You... know about Jedi, right? I mean... Luke Skywalker, and all?" Jindra smiles and nods her head, but soon her expression grows a little more serious. Her brow furrows slightly as the woman's tale just keeps getting more interesting. "Well, yes, I know about Jedi. Though, I don't know a Jedi personally, " she explains, her hand lifting and then falling back to her lap as she speaks. "Why...?" With a bit of reluctance, as if she's unsure she's going to be believed, Shenner answers, "There's this other Jedi, see. He's a Horansi. And he... found me, while I was sick, and did something, I dunno..." Her gaze slides off again, refocusing on something across the square. "Something with the Force, I guess. Whatever the hells he did, I've been sleepin' okay since then... but." She stops, pulls in a breath, and finishes, "He says something happened to me... involving the Force... and I oughtta talk with Luke, except I guess he didn't know Luke got caught by the Imps. I sure as hells ain't gonna go bother him now, so I guess I'm hopin' maybe a doctor can help me out... see?" If she's aware that she's started referring to Jedi Skywalker rather familiarly, she shows no sign of it, and as she stops talking, she peers warily at the other woman. Jindra sits quietly, taking in every word. She purses her lips together and lowers her gaze to her lap for a time before peering back up at Shenner. It seems the doctor needed a moment to take in all the new information. "So, you are telling me that your trouble sleeping was due to something in the Force..and" She looks to Shenner for confirmation as she continues. "And a Jedi told you this and then used the Force to help you sleep?" Her head gives one slow nod, as if this will help her understand the story. "I'm tellin' ya what Sinjon told me," Shenner confirms, still with that 'you're not buying this, are you?' look lingering on her thin young face. "But yeah... that's about right." Jindra repeats this unfamiliar name, "Sinjon?" She looks curiously to Shenner for her to identitify the person to whom she is referring. Shenner clarifies, "He's the Horansi... uh... Sinjon Teague." "Oh, I see," Jindra says. "Then if Sinjon Teague thinks that somehow you were subject to something...the Force even, that caused the sleeping problems, then does he think that it has caused problems in your memory as well?" She frowns at the thought, not even sure if she has ever heard of such in the medical field. Shen frowns at that, still holding the pendant, but only with one hand now, and the silver-and-bronze ring dangles from her fingers rather than being clenched between them. "Well... yeah, I guess. He didn't really say much other than thinkin' somethin' happened to me involvin' the Force, and I oughtta see Luke, before he left." Jindra sighs and looks toward the fountain in the square again. "Ms Veery, this is all very interesting. I am afraid that all I can offer is my professional opinion after some tests. This may indicate some unknown cause for the memory loss or it may come up with a perfectly....well, scientific explanation." She turns back to the young woman now , her eyes focusing on the young face. "If this Jedi suggested you see Jedi Skywalker then perhaps in time that is the best advice. " She clears her throat and adds, "It seems you know him don't you?" she says, unable to avoid the comment after hearing him called by his first name. Shenner promptly blushes, seeming torn between looking Jindra square in the eye and shrinking down through the seat of the bench. She compromises by tossing off a small shrug while not quite managing to meet the doctor's gaze, and she says gruffly, "I know him sorta kinda." This receives no elaboration either. Jindra cannot help but to smile at this answer, her brow arching in interest. "Oh.." she says causually, as if this were an explanation. "You sorta kinda know him well enough to call him by his first name. She shakes her head and chuckles, "It is not a crime Ms Veery. Just...well, unusual to meet someone that is a friend to the Jedi" The young musician risks another look at Jindra, and after a moment, cracks a lopsided smile. "Well, it's a long story, see...?" The smile doesn't quite dispel the plaintive look of her eyes, though, as she adds, "But it ain't like we're drinkin' buddies or anything, ya know?" These words come out of her with swift dismissiveness, as if she means to relay that any real connection between her and the NR's most famous hero is ludicrous to consider. Jindra leans back on the bench and chuckles. "Well..just the same, " she says with a shrug of her shoulders. "Some would be honored just to meet him and it seems you have befriended him. Or..he has befriended you." She smiles back at the young woman now. Shenner shrugs again, still not quite fully meeting Jindra's gaze. Sounding almost shy, she mumbles, "He's okay. He don't need no--" She seems to catch herself, then, as if mentally correcting her own grammar. Missing only a fraction of a beat, Shen continues, "He doesn't need a street rat coming crying to him for help if the Imps have been at him, though. He's got better things to do." Jindra looks down at her lap and says in a sincere tone. "I have a feeling that is not what he would say?" She phrases the sentence as a question, afterall, Shenner is the one that knows the Jedi, not her. "I am sure he would want to help you. And if he can't help you now..then there is always later." Tossing off another shrug -- Shenner seems to do that a lot, along with the expression that suggests she's in the middle of playing sabacc and trying to bluff her way into winning -- the girl admits, "He'd probably say he'd want to, yeah. Jedi seem to talk like that, at least the Light ones." Jindra nods her head. "Yes.." she says rather absently. "Consider yourself lucky to know him Ms Veery, "she says, though she said something similar before, she seems to think it bears repeating. She smiles back at the woman again, "Tell me, do you know of a hospital on Calamari?" "Well... there was the one Lu... Jedi Skywalker was in, when I was here before," Shen muses. Jindra looks around the sqaure and then back to Shenner, "Oh..?" she murmurs, "That is right..if it is near here then I am sure we could run some tests on you there." She looks back at Shenner again, renewed curiousity on her face as she thinks of yet another question. "Did you ever think of going to there when you knew you were having trouble with your memory?" Shenner can be seen to blush again, and she slouches down along the bench, muttering, "Uh... no..." Jindra smiles, and pats Shenner's leg, before even realizing she has done so. "Don't be embarassed, it seems many people don't like to see doctor. " She chuckles , "For some unknown reason." She sweeps her hair back from her face as the evening breeze tosses it about. "I should think the NR medical facility would be fine. If you don't mind having some tests done." "Umm, sure," the girl mumbles. Something about hospitals definitely seems to discomfit her, though she looks up again and seems to be pretending to be casual even now. "When?" Jindra Lifts her hand and gestures out into the sqaure somewhere. "Well..what about tonight?" she asks almost hesistantly, she does not want to appear pushy. Shenner puts on another one of those crooked smiles, full of bluster and bravado. "Ain't got nothin' better to do," she answers, "if you don't think anybody'll mind me haulin' my stuff around..." Jindra stretches her arms out in front of her and then rests them back in her lap. "Not in the least, why would anyone care?" She rises to her feet and takes in a deep breathe. "I am afraid I don't really have my bearings here..." she says looking around in each direction. "NR base is that way," says Shen, pointing northward. She sits up, reaching for her tote bag and guitar case, the pendant falling lightly against her shirt and dangling there, glinting faintly. Jindra grins, almost shyly at says, "Need any help with that?" she glances at the things Shenner is lugging around. The tote bag seems light enough, and Shen slings it onto her shoulder with a movement that speaks of long practice. She pauses, though, before hoisting the big guitar case up, and the youngster appears torn as to the sincerity of the offer. Then she says gruffly, "Okay, sure... if you wanna carry this..." She takes off the tote bag again, a battered and weathered thing of weatherproofed nylon, clinking muffledly with the shift of its contents. Jindra reaches out to take the bag, her arm giving a bit at the unexpected weight. It seems Shenner has it down to an art. Jindra swings the bag over her right shoulder and heads northward. "So," she says playfully, "What have you got in here Ms Veery?" "Huh? Oh... my datapad... a lot of discs. Coupla flutes." Shen points off again northward to indicate the way they ought to take, though she moves slowly, hauling the guitar case up by one arm and carrying it along with her, never mind that it seems to match a good fraction of her own mass. Triax arrives from North Coral Avenue. Triax has arrived. Triax looks at you for a moment. Shenner nods to Jindra, moving off along the square at the older woman's side. "I like havin' my discs with me, if I decide I wanna read, see," she says, still gruff. Almost challenging, ever so subtle in her tone. Triax notices a fellow NRer, and offers a nod. He next notices shenner and offers another nod of greeting. He passes briefly and continues on his way Triax strolls southward on Coral Avenue. Triax has left. You head northward up Coral Avenue. Calamari Coral City -- North Coral Avenue An extensive thoroughfare, the road, made of smooth pearly white sea rocks with irregular hues of pink, glistens under the warm rays of the sun. Residential buildings that seem to have sprung from the very depths of the dark blue oceans tower into the sky. However, these structures, made of a pale blue almost translucent material, are not nature's ingenuity, but that of the Mon Calamari. Cataracts of leaves, rustling in the cool breeze, flow from large trees providing plenty of shade. Many citizens walk to and fro, either to disappear into their dwellings or to quickly pause before a fountain and refresh themselves with its sparkling waters. To the west, you catch a glimpse of coral hills which lure you to take a stroll through the Coral Gardens, and coming from the south you hear the distinct sound of water rushing against cold stone, a pleasant call for you to head into the city's center square. Toward the north is the spaceport. -=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=- leads to Calamari Coral City -- Coral Gardens. leads to Calamari Coral City - Coral City Square. leads to Calamari Coral City -- Main Spaceport. "Yeah, I understand. "Jindra glances at the back she carries and grins, "You play the flute too?" she says . She turns to look at the path ahead as they continue to walk. "Yeah, and the drum, and the ocarina," says Shenner. It's not bragging, from the sound of it; she might have just commented that her hair is red, and the sky overhead blue. The girl moves with assurance along her route, heading further northward as she goes. You go north down Coral Avenue, into the Spaceport. Calamari Coral City -- Main Spaceport A large docking bay, people of all races bustling between various terminals, the hum of many conversations in different tongues periodically muted by the roaring of a shuttle's engines. Expansive white walls, smooth and cold as washed stone, gleam in the soft light cast by the fixtures in the ceiling. There is the continuous shuffle of cargo being loaded and unloaded and the need to move out of harms way as a cargo lifter passes by you. Occasionally a wisp of salty air tickles your nose but it quickly fades away. A cargo lifter scoots by as it heads toward one of the private docks then disappears north toward the space platform. To the south the shapes and lights of a lively city can be seen. -=-=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=-=- => Economic Presence => HoloTerm <12-70-46> -=-=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=-=- => Shuttle: Freedom => Tarroc => STARFIGHTER: Yacht Lady Luck => STARFIGHTER: Incom T-65B X-wing -- Ghost 1 => STARFIGHTER: Sardakh Kale-1 -- Firedancer => STARFIGHTER: Corellian YT-1300 -- Millennium Falcon => Shuttle Call - Calamari => IGNews Terminal (NR) - Calamari => STARFIGHTER: Sienar Lambda Class Shuttle -- Freedom -=-=-=-=-=<>=-=-=-=-=- aiting leads to Waiting To Be Linked. orth leads to Military Landing Platform - Calamari. ivil leads to Civil Offices - Calamari. leads to Calamari Coral City -- North Coral Avenue. Jindra arrives from Coral Avenue. Jindra has arrived. Shenner, hauling her guitar case, comes into view at the side of Jindra; the Major is carrying Shen's tote bag, and the young musician appears to be in charge of their route as she takes them on the shortcut through the spaceport, towards the NR base. Shenner's shortcut pays off. Her guidance back to the NR base is sure, though it's there that the redheaded girl's assurance falters a bit; she hangs back, instinctively aware that Jindra Langri is the one who has clearance to enter the base, not her. Jindra approaches the base entrance, reaching for a side pocket on her smock. She pulls out a small ID card and talks with the officer. She nods her head toward Shenner and then nods her head. Finally, the doctor smiles over towards her and says, "Ready? Clearance is approved, " she says in a playfully dramatic tone. Clearance approved. Shen pulls in a breath and lets it out again, trying to look casual as she follows Jindra into the NR installation. She's been here before, right? She knows this place, right? No problem! Still, the kid is nervous as she trudges along beside the older woman, flicking green glances left and right the whole way. Jindra steps inside the large open area of the entrance. The doctor nods to a passing officer and then waves her hand toward the right. "This way, "she says pleasantly, leading down a rather long hallway. "I believe where we want to be is right at the end of this passage. " "Sure," says the redheaded kid with the guitar case, getting a bit of her composure back with a destination in sight. Still, she's obviously skittish, for all her attempts to remain casual. "Your turf, and all that..." Jindra's boots click against the smooth surface of the floor. Her feet slow as they approach two large doors. Oversided, to accomodate stretchers and the like, the doors slide open with a push of a button. Jindra glances around briefly and steps inside. "Ah..here we are Ms. Veery." _So this is what the NR's version of a hospital looks like, huh...?_ Not too much different than what she's seen before, a waiting area, an official-looking desk, doors leading off in mysterious directions, the destinations of which Shenner isn't entirely certain she wishes to know. "Uhh... where you need me?" she asks tentatively, peering left and right, clinging to her guitar. Jindra smiles back at the young lady just as the doors slide shut behind them. "Let me check, " she says, walking up to the desk. Jindra shows her ID again and speaks to a medical droid stationed behind it. She slips the card back into her pocket and turns back to her patient. "Here we go," she says, already moving toward an exam room labeled EXAM RM 3 over the door way. Shen gives the med droid a long look, and then, with visible trepidation, follows the doctor into the exam room. _Keep it cool, street rat, no problem here, you asked her to do this, just keep calm..._ Jindra sets down the bag of Shenner's she was carrying for her. Having put it out of the way in a corner she says,"We'll just put this right here for now. You can put your instrument there too." Jindra takes a look around the room herself now. An exam table/bed is centered in the middle of the room. A pillow and sheet cover a think cushioned mattress on its surface. Along the walls are cabinets holding various bottles and devices. One wall is a large screen for reading data. "Okay," is Shen's muttered reply. She leans the guitar case against the wall, and then turns to warily survey the room at large, edging uneasily towards the doctor. "You... uh... want me to sit down or something?" Jindra glances back at Shenner and grins, realizing her slow movement toward the exit. "Sure, just hop right up here." SHe pats the exam table once and then begins to look through one of the drawers in the room. She pulls out a small metallic scanner and offers the woman a smile. "I promise this won't hurt a bit Ms. Veery." "Shen," the girl mutters. "You don't hafta call me 'Ms. Veery'..." She nods, though, tautly, and clambers up onto the table. Jindra smiles approvingly and says through a chuckle. "Allright..Shen?" SHe walks around to stand in front of the woman now. She says, "Okay, just look straight ahead for a moment. " Jindra lifts a round metal object and holds it in front of Shenner's eye. A beam is emitted and painlessly is aimed at the cornea. "Just keep looking right past me.." Jindra murmurs, looking carefully and closely at her. The girl nods shortly, then focuses her green gaze in the requested direction. She can't stop herself from blinking, though, not expecting that light, even though it doesn't hurt. "What's that for...?" Jindra grins. "This just let's me look into your eye. Had any headaches or blurred vision. All could be due to head trauma." The beam is moved to the other eye now. Jindra shakes her head and turns off the beam. She walks back over to the counter. The girl's eyes appear to be in order, if reddened, perhaps from inadequate sleep. She blinks a few more times, then, as the doctor moves away, she confesses, "Uh, well.... I had some headaches for a while, but I thought that was too much coffee, and, uh...." Her voice drops, and roughens. "The stims." Jindra listens, her head nodding..until she hears 'stims'. She looks back at Shenner and carries a new device over toward her. "Stims?" She shakes her head. "You mean you were taking stimulants? For what?" She presses a button on the device and with a beep a green light appears. The young musician might be seen to blush, vividly, clashing with the shade of her hair. "Yeah," she mutters, focusing her attention off on a safely neutral space on the nearest wall. "Tryin' to keep awake, I think...." Jindra looks down at the green light as she speaks. "Do you know why you would not want to sleep?" SHe lifts the mechanism up and starts to move it around Shenner's head. The device beeps occasionally, without a reaction from the doctor. The girl's stance is still wary and tense, but she manages not to flinch -- much -- as the doctor circles her skull with that device. "It's... a little blurry," she mumbles in evident embarrassment. "I... was havin' nightmares, though." Jindra repeats, "Nightmares..."She lets out a sigh, "I see no evidence here of any fractures or past edemas. At least not recently that I can tell. " She pulls out a small, oblong scanner and gently presses it to Shenner's forehead. "Now, this will not hurt either, "she reassures. "This is just going to read your nueral patterns." Shenner swallows, but lets out another breathy "Okay..." And manages not to nod, supposing it'd be better to keep her head steady. She doesn't go into details, not yet, but she's still blushing and her eyes have turned darker in her slender face. Jindra looks back at the wall, the data from the tiny scanner obviously being displayed on the large screen. Patterns, wavey lines and lines full of peaks and valleys move across the readout. Jindra looks at them for a moment, she lets out a small sigh. "Hmmm, nothing terribly out of the ordinary there. Nothing to alarm us." She smiles back at Shenner and says. "But, a body needs more than three hours sleep." Shenner glances at the readouts, only so much gibberish to her, and then shifts uncomfortably on the table. "Well.... yeah," she says roughly. "'Swhy I'm here... I guess...." And she swings a foot uneasily. Jindra tilts her head to one side. "To be honest a young woman like yourself should have patterns that are a bit more..." She shrugs, looking for the right words to use . "A bit more..active. " She lifts up a hand and gently presses a butt on the scanner. "From what you said it sounds like your body....your mind is literally drained." She frowns slightly. Shen looks up at that, and swallows a little, a slight ripple in the hollow of her throat. "Uh, well... all I know is... I ain't been sleepin', and there were nightmares... and... the Horansi told me... the, uh, Force mighta been involved." Her voice remains low and rough and uneasy. Jindra sighs, thinking again. "I am afraid I don't know much about the Force." She carefully removes the scanner from Shenner's head. The data on the large screen disappears and is quickly replaced by a New Republic emblem. "Let me do at least one more test. Do you mind if I take some blood?" She offers another smile and walks back to the supply drawer. "You're the doctor," Shen replies, trying to smile a little, though she's patently uncomfortable. That's what I like to hear, " Jindra jokes, trying to make her feel at ease. Slipping on some gloves, Jindra removes a sterile needle attached to what looks like a vial. "I can at least do some blood work." Jindra stands next to Shenner and spreas a sterlizing agent on her arm. "I promise to be gentle..a small prick." The needle is in with a quick jab and blood fills the vial. The girl doesn't seem bothered by the sight of her own blood, at least. If anything, Shen steals a glance at Jindra's hands and equipment as she goes about her business, perhaps interested in the activity... if nothing else as a distraction from whatever's weighing on her mind. "Howcome you gotta look at my blood?" Jindra smiles at the question just as she slides the needle out of her arm. She quickly places what looks like a small cloth patch on the spot. She carries the vial carefully over to be read. "Well, this will read your white blood count..as well as check for anything in your blood that is abnormal. Also..it will check your electrolyte balance and such." "Oh." Shen swings her other foot, considering this, and restlessly watching the older woman's work. "So... what's it... tell ya?" Jindra looks at the readouts again, a beep telling her the scan is done. "Hmm,"She murmurs. "Ms. Veery, ...Shen, " she corrects with a smile. "I am surprised quite frankly that you even have strength enough to walk across this room. " She halfway smiles and pulls up a chair next to Shenner. "Your electrolytes are totally out of balance....more than likely from not eating well." SHe looks at her expectantly for an explanation. Shenner's brow crinkles at this, and for a moment, she nibbles at her lower lip, a gesture that makes her look abruptly very young. "Well, I been eatin'," she protests, but without too much conviction. "The question is what have you been eating? You have low levels of many of the vital vitamins and minerals your body needs to function." True concern creeps over the doctor's face. "You are malnourished and....sleep deprived." Shen's expression falters, turning more awkward, further accentuating her youth. "Uh, well," she mumbles, intending to look Jindra in the eye and only making it to her shoulder. "Ration bars... soup... that kinda thing, y'know?" Jindra shakes her head. "Well that is okay sometimes. But you need some food that is more substantial. Surely you feel weak." She looks back at the patient again and leans back in her chair. Shenner lowers her eyes. "Hadn't really thought about it..." Jindra smiles and rises from her seat. "Still, " she says, rubbing her chin with her hand. "What wouild account for your memory loss. I just don't find anything physically that would account for it." Shenner's hands unoccupied, one of them strays up again to curl around the silver-and-bronze necklace dangling at her throat. "What else... would do it? I-I mean... assuming it... wasn't what Sinjon said?" Jindra gains a serious expression, her mind racing with possibilities. "Well, " She says, tilting her head. "Tell me, do you have any memories at all about the time period you are having trouble with?" Shenner swallows again, harder, and pulls in a breath. It takes her a few moments to ask, "Well, uh... there's... that month that's gone, and then stuff's just... a little muddled since then.... you, uh, wanna know about the month, right?" "Can you remember parts of the month...yes" Jindra looks back at her eagerly again. "It could hold some sort of clue ." Shenner's gaze drops down to her necklace again, and she is silent for several moments, as she studies her own fingers worrying the pendant on the chain back and forth, back and forth. "Well.... like I said... I was goin' to Mandalore." Jindra nods, not really liking the way Shenner acts when these questions are posed. Jindra decides these must not exactly be pleasant memories, but she waits to be sure. "Right, and when you got there... The girl doesn't look up, and her voice stays low and rough, her words slow, as she apparently tries to organize her thoughts. "There were four of us goin', me, and two Mandalorians, and, uh, P-Paul. We were gonna go lookin' for some artifacts Paul'd been hired to look for, see..." Her grip on the necklace tightens, and the pace at which she slides the pendant back and forth through her fingers picks up. Jindra listens carefully as she begins. "Yes, " she says, "Looking for artifacts on Mandalore?" She shakes her head in dismissal, "I am sorry, go on....please" "Okay, uh... well... I-I know we got there.... and there was a... power failure, see? And we tried to sneak off the base, and there was this other guy, Mandalorian, who helped us sneak out if we'd take him with us...." Shen relays, slowly and uncomfortably, her expression darkening. "And... I-I remember... we got into the jungle, I-I think, but... I-I-I start losin' it about there..." Jindra frowns, "And where do the memories pick up again?" She smiles, realizing this must be hard...especially talking to a virtual stranger. SHe looks at the young woman, encouraging her to continue. It's fairly obvious that this is swiftly becoming a difficult conversation, for Shenner's features are tautening, her eyes taking on a suspiciously liquid glint. "Here," she whispers. "Calamari." Quite a gap there, is what the doctor thinks but does not say. "Shen, " Jindra starts, hoping by using her name she can make her more comfortable. "It seems to me that you are very uncomfortable talking about this. Almost like ...like you are afraid to think about the little that you /do/ remember." She studies the woman's face a moment. "Is that accurate?" The short, simple name might help, a little, for Shen does look up, giving the doctor a distinctly nervous glance. She swallows, and then bobs her dark red head, glancing off again. "Y-yeah," she mumbles. Progress perhaps, Jindra thinks and nods. She takes a seat again in her empty chair. "That could be important, "she says hesitantly. Jindra frowns and folds her hands in her lap. "YOu do not seem eager to remember...maybe that is a clue." Shenner shifts, now steadily fidgeting with the necklace, with both hands. "It's... I-I mean, well... Sinjon said... I-I really, _really_ oughtta talk to Luke, h-he was afraid I might d... die, see? And he s-said the Force did somethin', and I-I-I can't remember it, and I just, I just dunno if it'd be b-better to know or not to know, but I'm really worried 'cause of P..." She trails off, blushing violently. Jindra's expression turns from concern to pure worry as she listens to the young woman. She looks over her and gently places a hand on Shenner's. "It's okay..." she says calmly, pushing her chair slightly closer to her. "You don't have to remember right now..." Jindra looks down at their hands and says, "Perhaps there is something more ...something that is not physiological." "H-how could you tell....?" Shenner asks, her voice very small. Jindra blinks, trying to understand. When she thinks she does she smiles again. "How could I tell you did not want to talk about this? " She squeezes her hand once and continues. "Listen to yourself, you get nervous when I asked what you remember. You are hesistant even with the small things you do know." She smiles at the necklace and sighs. "You hold on to that necklace as if that will keep you safe." She smiles warmly and squeezes her heand again. "Paul gave it to me," the girl mumbles, her eyes not leaving the little pendant even as her hand is taken and squeezed. Then, dejectedly, she adds, "I-I think..." Jindra smiles and repeats, "Paul. This Paul must be someone special to you by the way you hold onto it." She lets her hand slide off Shenner's and onto her lap again. The girl's green eyes turn rather more liquid, and, conscious now of the death-grip she's had on the pendant, she seems to consciously relax her grasp. She also seems to consciously struggle to compose her expression. "Yeah... somethin' like that," she says gruffly, her attempt at a neutral voice not jibing well with those bereft-looking eyes. Jindra smiles and leans back in her chair again. She lets a pause fall over them for a moment before breaking the silence. "Shen, I am just a medical doctor, I am not a psychologist. But I do know that ones mind can affect their body phycially sometimes." Shenner looks up again, hesitantly, though perhaps with just a glimmer of relief lurking in her eyes. At the shift of subject away from 'Paul'? "Yeah?" she rasps out hoarsely. Jindra nods, "Of course. Just like stress can affect you phycially. " She shrugs her shoulders and continues. "Same thing really, only on a more profound level if this is what is causing your memory loss." The girl nods, somewhere between awkward and composed, somewhere between child and adult. "Yeah, I... can buy that." Jindra continues, "Perhaps it is not me you need to see then. But you do need to take better care of yourself. " She rises to her feet and looks over several bottle on the counter. "In fact, I am going to give you some supplements." She picks up one bottle and looks it over. "So you... think I oughtta talk to Luke too?" asks Shenner, her voice lowering again. Apparently, the prospect daunts her, and as she turns to follow Jindra's motions, the tension is reflected in her slender frame. Jindra glances back at Shenner. "Well, " she admits, "I was thinking of..perhaps a doctor in that field. " She grabs two bottles and walks back to the exam table. "I am not going to belittle the powers of the Jedi, Shen." SHe looks down for a moment and sighs, "But I just don't know enough about what he could offer you." She frowns, wishing she had a better answer. "Do ya... know any? I mean, doctors in that field?" asks Shenner, enough composure returned that she looks up again at the older woman. Still, though, something of the lost child lingers in her expression and her eyes.
