Log Date: 3/9/97 Log Cast: Han Solo, Shenner, Jessalyn, Amylynn, Grathix Log Intro: For the young bardling Shenner, her stay on Palanhi has proven even more eventful than her stops on Etti IV or even the NR ship _Alderaan_. In the space of the few days she's been on this planet, she has discovered that Luke Skywalker knew she was a girl, has started a tenuous but promising friendship with Jessalyn Valios, has discovered that the Dark Jedi Alora has shown up on Palanhi... and has discovered that someone else has, as well. Paul Nighman, the Corellian pilot who had originally given Shenner a lift off her homeworld, has come to this planet, and Shenner has greeted him with an infuriated punch to his jaw and even more infuriated words... and has flattened him as well with the news that she's really a girl. Jessalyn has convinced Shenner that Paul feels miserable about their encounter, and has persuaded the kid to go listen to his apology. Shenner has done this, and has been left feeling rather disoriented about the whole thing -- as well as her life in general. Not knowing what to do with herself, and hoping to figure it out, the kid takes her flute down into the cargo bay of the _Dragon_ and lingers down there for a while, simply playing music. And while she's down there.... ---------- Cargo Bay--Black Dragon This is the main cargo bay. All ship's cargo is kept here. Obvious exits: Entry Area The sound of someone banging on the entrance panel is abruptly heard, along with an irritated call, "Anyone in there?" You pull yourself up out of the cargo hold, replacing the access panel into the floor. You arrive in the Entry Area of the ship. Rear Corridor - Black Dragon You gaze into the Entry Area for the YT-1300 Black Dragon. This is a nexus to the various areas of the ship. The Cargo Bay to the port, Engineering to the aft, and the Main Corridor to the fore. Contents: Han_Solo Jessalyn Obvious exits: Airlock Cargo Bay Engine Room Main Corridor Shenner, after a moment, emerges from the cargo hold, frowning. "Yeah... what?" Han_Solo starts to bang again on the panel and halts as someone emerges from it. "Oh, there you are." He frowns. Han_Solo looks at you for a moment. Shenner blinks, climbing fully up out of the hatch; she's got a flute in one hand, and its carry sheath is slung over her shoulder. At the sight of the Corellian up and about, she blinks twice. "Uh... are you supposed to be up?" Han_Solo Eyes of a seasoned space jockey look out from a weathered face. Handsome, in a rugged way, and habitually alert, this man has the cockiness of one used to living on the edge and succeeding. He's dressed in a simple dark blue flightsuit, minus the flight gear. Pockets are all over it, and it looks a little bit too large for him, or maybe that's the style. He looks pale, though not deathly ill, and walks with a limp. Amylynn has connected. Han_Solo smirks and says extravagantly, "Yeah, I'm practicing walking. I'm going to walk out and get something to eat, unless you had some idea where you've hidden the food here." He fixes a gruff look upon Shenner. Amylynn pokes her head out of the cockpit as she hears Han's voice. Amylynn smiles and walks in "Hi Han, how you feeling?" Jessalyn has been napping in the crew's quarters and comes trundling groggily out of the room, eyes peering groggily at the source of the noise. She rubs her eyes and gives Shenner a questioning look. The kid blinks again, eyes narrowing for no apparent reason. "What's the matter with the catering unit in the crews' quarters?" she inquires of Solo. Han_Solo shifts more weight off his injured foot and replies, "Well, it doesn't happen to give me information along with the soup." He gives Shenner a significant look before glancing to Amylynn and giving her a smile. "Yeah, better, thanks." Jessalyn yawns and covers her mouth with her hand before shifting her shoulders and going next to Shenner's side. She blinks her eyes open wider and offers a tired smile. "What is it you need, General? We can go get you anything...." Han_Solo turns his attention to Jessalyn. "Where's Luke?" "There's food at the hotel," says Shenner in a neutral tone. At Jessalyn's entrance, Shen flashes the older woman a brief, inscrutable look, then steps back slightly, as if to let Jessalyn handle this. Jessalyn raises a brow, an expression of -why should /I/ know?- showing in her eyes. She glances away and shrugs. "I don't know where he is." Amylynn slowly sinks back toward the cockpit in a quiet depression. Han_Solo frowns, but nods. He turns and hobbles back in the direction of the crew quarters, muttering, "Thanks." Jessalyn frowns and exchanges glances with Shenner, then calls out to Solo, "Do you still want us to go get food...?" Shenner puts in, as if somehow displeased to be speaking, "I think he's been keeping an eye out for... unfriendly people. To make sure it's safe for..." She pauses a moment on the word before continuing, "... us to leave." Han_Solo says emphatically, "No," and keeps hobbling. Jessalyn sighs and leans her shoulder against the wall. After a moment she chuckles. "Months of working on getting him back, and this is what we get. Men!" Han_Solo stops and peers over his shoulder at Jessa. Amylynn turns and looks back. Her smile is weak and she leaves into the cockpit Amylynn walks Fore to the Main Corridor of the ship. Amylynn has left. Shenner, at Jessalyn's comment, just scowls for no apparent reason -- and is the kid blushing? Jessalyn merely tosses her loveliest smile down the corridor to the other Corellian, arms folded over her chest. Han_Solo turns. He hobbles back to the two girls. The man eyes both of them sharply and says, "Well, in the process of getting out of hell and all, I think we neglected introductions. I hate being -rescued- by people I don't know the names of." The emphasis on -rescue- carries a special brand of sarcasm. Jessalyn bristles at the tone of Han's voice, and her green eyes start to flash before she can manage to compose herself. In a steady voice, and with that breath-catching smile still on her face, she offers a hand slowly. "Jessalyn." Han_Solo looks unaffected by this charm (that you can see) and directs a look at Shenner. Shenner just stands there slightly behind Jessalyn, and continues to scowl. Jessalyn shrugs and withdraws her offered hand since Solo didn't take it, and refolds her arms. She watches his look shift to Shenner curiously. ".... Shenner," the youngster with the flute finally puts in, grudgingly. Han_Solo nods, once. "Well, thanks then." He scowls. "Caught me at a bad time, long term prison stays make me irritable." He turns. Shenner might be heard to mutter something disparaging under her breath. Jessalyn smiles down at her young friend and pats her arm comfortingly before replying back to him. "We're glad you're back, General. And let us know if we can help with anything." Han_Solo stops again and turns, a weary smile directed at Jessalyn. "S'ok, life's enough to keep me happy for a while. Until it gets boring again." He gives Shenner an unreadable look. Amylynn walks in from the Main Corridor of the ship. Amylynn has arrived. Amylynn quietly walks back into the cargo bay. Amylynn walks into the Cargo Bay of the ship Amylynn has left. Jessalyn chuckles lightly, shaking her head. "Boring. Right." She gives Shenner a wink. "I haven't had a boring moment since I fell in with those people." Han_Solo chuckles as well, and arrests a stumble by bracing himself with a hand against the wall. The youngster just eyes Solo in return, green gaze slightly narrowed, then glances at Jessalyn and finally points out, "Luke's still worried about people comin' after us, so we can't get bored y--" Shen cuts off as the General staggers, and glances at Jess again, this time startledly. Han_Solo pauses, then continues into the crew quarters without a word. Amylynn walks in from the Cargo Bay of the ship Amylynn has arrived. Han_Solo walks Fore to the Main Corridor of the ship. Han_Solo has left. Amylynn aimlessly wanders the ship. Shenner mutters, "Thought he shouldn't be up yet." Worry shows in Jessa's eyes, and she looks down at Shenner and murmurs, "Perhaps we can at least find him a crutch or something. I don't think anything'll keep him down." Amylynn silently watches the other red heads and taps her armored side in thought. Shenner's brow is still furrowed, her face tight with something like annoyance. She just shrugs a bit and glances off, bouncing the end of her flute slightly against her leg, before Amylynn's presence registers. Then, Shen goes on, "Well, don't think >I< need to do that, I'll just figure out some other way to be useful around here..." Amylynn says, "Hurm" Jessalyn's smile widens and she ruffles the girl's hair. "He does seem a bit gruff, I admit," she says with some amusement. "But if he's Luke's best friend then..." She sighs wistfully. "C'mon, Shen. You got the antibiotics before. Let's go find a crutch." Amylynn sighs "Great encourage him to reopen his wounds..." Amylynn says, "Man won't sit still as is." Jessalyn frowns over at Amylynn. "Which is exactly why he needs a crutch. He's not -going- to sit still. We might as well get his weight off that foot." Her voice is firm. Shenner rolls one shoulder in a shrug. "Y'all can argue this out, he don't need no help from me." Amylynn says, "He needs rest, not a go ahead to run around the planet attracting attention." Jessalyn snaps back, "Are you listening to me at all?" Amylynn says, "Is that your Medical opinion from years of medical training ?" Jessalyn raises a delicate brow. "No, it's my experience of years with stubborn Corellian men. You're not going to be able to keep him from getting up, unless you intend on keeping him sedated." Amylynn nods "That can be arranged since he still needs two anti-biodics treatments. The more active he gets the faster his poisoned blood goes through his body. I want help keeping him down till he is at 100 blood purity Shenner snorts out testily, "Corellians!" and stalks, flute in hand, off towards the front of the ship. You quickly cross to fore, heading into the main corridor of the ship. Main Corridor--Black Dragon Charcoal colored panels line the walls head through this the main corridor of the ship. Amylynn mutters and enter the crew quarters. "I ruined my lift for this?" Amylynn walks into the Crew's Quaters on the ship Amylynn has left. [Jessalyn lost connection here; we assume, then, that Jessalyn got Shenner to pause long enough in the corridor for Amylynn to go past them into the crews' quarters, while Shenner sulkily informed Jessalyn that she was okay.] Amylynn walks in from the Crew's Quarters on the ship Amylynn has arrived. Jessalyn walks in from the Main Corridor of the ship. Jessalyn has arrived. Shenner announces curtly, "I'm supposed to bring a message to you, uh... General." Han_Solo turns his head and looks at Shenner mildly. He lifts a hand to wave it at the bunk near him. "Sit then." Jessalyn enters the room shortly behind Shenner, looking concerned for her, but she pauses with surprise at her words. The kid lets out a breath, then stalks towards the bunk and parks on it, one hand fidgeting with the flute Shenner's still carrying. "I'll keep it short," Shenner says, while parking. "Before I met Luke... I was workin' for somebody who was lookin' for you." Han_Solo props himself up with an elbow, nodding as he listens. "Short form of the story is," the youngster finishes, "once we all got here... my boss wanted me to tell you, he knows about some people who think you owe 'em somethin' and he wants to offer a deal to get 'em off your back." Jessalyn listens intently, though her attention seems divided as she makes her way over to the bunk she had been resting on previously. She neatly folds a pile of clothes and places them inside a bag, glancing every now and then at Shenner and Solo. Han_Solo perks an eyebrow, his bland expression showing interest as he asks low, "Who's your boss refering to?" Jessalyn pulls a brush out of the bag and settles onto the edge of the bunk, raking the bristles through her thick hair as her eyes fix on a nearby wall, but her ears are still perked toward the conversation. Traces of that unaccountable wariness still linger in the kid's expression and eyes, as she says steadily, "He ain't told me that yet." Then, abruptly, grumpily, she glances off to Jessalyn and adds, "There were a few other... things on his mind. Anyhow, he wants to talk to you, or Luke." Han_Solo says firmly, "Me. Whatever it is, it doesn't sound like Luke's problem. He might not even know what your boss is talking about. Where is your boss?" "Probably on his ship. He ain't docked too far away," Shenner says. Han_Solo nods. "Tell him I'll listen." He resettles, and adds, "Another thing. Amylynn." His tone has a feel of someone correcting a younger and newer officer, lightly admonishing, but not from a height above; rather, an equal footing. "She's scared, and she's alone here. She's risked a lot to do what she did, and it's not over. I'd appreciate it if both of you helped her relax, ease her mind." Jessalyn continues to run the brush through her hair, her brows drawn slightly together. After a moment she tosses it onto the bed and folds her hands in her lap, crossing her legs in front of her. Jessalyn only frowns slightly at Han's last words and continues to look down at her hands. Amylynn walks in from the Main Corridor of the ship. Amylynn has arrived. Han_Solo is propped up on one elbow, looking at Shenner. who sits nearby. He has a calmly stern expression. Jessalyn is seated cross-legged on a bunk further away from Shenner and Solo, listening quietly. Amylynn staggers in, her rifle in her hand the smell of freshly fired shots follow her. Shenner rises off her bunk, a cautious green gaze on Solo; that gaze then narrows a bit again. "Makes two of us, then," the kid says gruffly, glancing at the medic as she comes in. Then, she straightens, expression changing, at the manner of the woman's entrance. Han_Solo looks sharply at Amylynn as the woman enters, and sits up, asking, "What the...?" Jessalyn glances up at the alarm in Solo's voice and her eyes settle on Amylynn, flooding with concern as she gasps. Amylynn sits on a bunk and grits her teeth in pain as whisps of smoke fly from her back. Shenner flicks a look at each of the others in the room before frowning, baffledly, at Amylynn. The youngster demands, "What's going on? Who shot atcha?" Han_Solo swings his legs over the edge of his bunk and stands. "What the hell happened?" He ignores his foot and bends to snatch up an open medkit nearby, straighening to move toward the woman. Amylynn speaks through the pain "Some Rodian, and a some other creature... they tried to grab me." Jessalyn fists clench, and in her startlement she is slow to respond. But as soon as her senses come back to her, she pushes herself to her feet and follows behind Solo towards the woman. "Stay off that foot, Solo," she says gently, casting him a glance before turning to look at Amylynn's back. Han_Solo sits heavily next to to her, taking weight off his injured foot and ignoring Jessa's admonishment. "They announce a reason beforehand?" He looks her over, scowling. Shenner backs off towards the hatchway, glancing out into the corridor, but clearly worried enough that she lingers here to listen to what Amylynn reports. Amylynn armor absorbed a great deal of the blaster shots but two large burns can be seen under her armor bleeding. "Something bout bringing a good price for one like me.... Jessalyn furrows her brow. "Get this armor off of her," she says to no one in particular as she tries to figure out who its removed. Han_Solo gives Shenner a warning look, but says nothing as he inspects Amylynn's back. His expression at her explanation is deadly and he mutters, "Slavers. I'm going to need you to remove your shell so I can look at this." Amylynn opens her left wrist gauntlet and press three buttons, the armor extrends for removal and she tries to slip off her breast plate. "Fraggin....I was only getting something to eat..." Han_Solo helps her remove the plates, looking over the injures. "Uh, hmm. Think we have enough here..." He digs with one hand in the medkit and removes a few of the dwindling supply of bacta patches. Shenner scowls again at Solo's expression, but stays there at the hatchway. Then the kid flicks a look at Jessalyn and asks, "Jess, you want me to go comm Luke or somethin'?" Amylynn sighs, You see her bodyglove is also burned and lightly melted "Teero, was the Roidan... Amylynn says, "just slaps a bacta patch on me...i'll be ok." Han_Solo mutters, applying patches gingerly, "Go chat with your boss, kid." He concentrates on the wounds, his careful movements showing more unfamiliarity with medicine than confidence. Amylynn peels the bodyglove off showing a black bodysuit under it "Just peels the patch off and place it on the cut..." "I _asked_ Jess," Shenner says tautly. Before the woman has a chance to say anything to her, though, the kid whirls and stalks off, muttering something under her breath about knowing where she's not welcome. ---------- Interlude: Fuming, Shenner stalked out of the _Black Dragon_, deciding as she went that whatever reputation Solo had amongst Grathix's sources had to be based at the very least on mistaken hearsay -- and more likely on sniffing coolant fumes. _Charming, huh?_ she snarled to herself. _I've seen more charming drunken Sandpeople!_ The kid stalked off to the _Cat's Paw_, thinking to find Grathix and get the message relayed that Solo wanted to talk to him; the faster the better, as far as Shenner was concerned. But Grathix wasn't in the ship, and, peevishly, the kid set out to search the surrounding city for him, thinking to try the hotel first since she knew he had a room there.... ---------- You cross the square and enter the Grand Palanhi Hotel. Grand Palanhi Hotel - Palanhi City Recently totally renovated, the Grand Palanhi Hotel has been restored to its original magnificence and elegant charm. Three hand-carved gold pillars, set equal distance apart across the middle of the expansive lobby, extend from the white marble floor to the high, coffered ceiling. Large casement windows span most of the front wall. Thick red velvet draperies cover the windows, blocking out the Palanhi sun's hot rays, allowing the lobby to be remarkably cool and comfortable. Red velvet upholstered chairs and couches are arranged in small and medium-sized groupings in various areas around the room. A deep red strip of carpet leads from the gold-framed entrance to the white marble registration desk. Six multi-tiered crystal chandeliers, suspended from the ceiling by gold chains, tinkle harmoniously at the slightest breeze. But even all of this is dwarfed by the elegance of the gold-railed, white marble spiral staircase that extends upward along the left wall to the second floor balcony. Grathix nods, "I suppose it couldn't hurt, now that Skywalker seems to be taking his time." Shenner, scowling darkly, just nods and turns to head back out, clearly expecting you to follow her. After a time, Shenner's scruffy young figure appears at the hatchway again, and the kid's still wearing the same scowl she'd had when she left. She flicks a look at Jessalyn, then shakes her head, and says gruffly, "Just Grath. If everything gets okay in here, we'll be outside. Luke didn't say if I could bring him on the ship." I told 'em you were out here, either they're comin' out or they ain't. I'm open to suggestions." Grathix nods. Could you bring our guest up here, so I don't have to strain myself walking around down there?" Shenner starts to answer, then stiffens, and says, "Well. Looks like I'll have to answer that later. Shenner then stills, finding them both under a line of fire. Grathix walks into the ship, briefcase in hand. He looks at the man holding the rifle and stops. Han_Solo stands near the back wall, weight off his left foot, which is bandaged. He says, conversationally down the long barrel of the weapon, "So, heard you had a deal." Grathix sets his breifcase down on the ground, stopping where he was. He says, "I must say, your hospitality leaves alot to be desired." Han_Solo replies, eyes not leaving the man, "I'm not with the diplomatic branch." Shenner stands frozen just before Grathix, one hand up on the shoulder-strap of her re-sheathed flute. Han_Solo says, low and warningly, "That's far enough. I'd hate to have to explain a corpse as a welcome mat on this ship. What'd you want to talk about?" Grathix says, "Quite a many things, if you are the man I'm looking for. Quite frankly, you don't look like the Han solo, smuggler and rogue extraordinaire I have heard about." Han_Solo smirks, keeping the rifle steady. "If you're looking for proof, there's little encouragement for me to give it to you." Grathix laughs slightly, "Indeed...then shall we get started. Perhaps we should sit. I hear you have been slightly under the weather a bit." "At the very least," Shenner puts in testily, "either of you boys mind if I move out of the line of fire?" Han_Solo smiles, cheerfully. "I'm pretty comfortable with what I have. Start." He pauses, and asides to Shenner, "Not unless you want to play moving target. Just calm down and wait this out like a good girl." Grathix says, "Then how about you allow Shenner here to wait outside. Besides, I'm the one who wants to talk with you, not she." Shenner abruptly flushes crimson, perhaps more with anger than embarrassment; her eyes blaze. "Damn straight I don't wanna talk to him," she growls. Han_Solo considers silently, then nods once. "Fine by me." Grathix gave you Large Black Case (closed). Grathix tells Shenner, Take my case with you, Bukie. I won't need it, not here. Shenner's head is down, where she sits on the tarmac by the Dragon, around the side of the ship. She's playing the flute at a furious tempo. "Listen, I'll be honst with you...I'd like you stay aboard with me...but if you want to go with this Jess lady, then go. I won't stop you. I can't....and don't worry baout Solo. he;s probably more so this was cause he's sick and vulnerable...I know I'd be. Shenner uncomfortably wraps an arm around a knee, and doesn't meet your gaze. Her nose wrinkles at your guess about Solo's behavior, but she doesn't comment on it; instead, she tells you awkwardly, "I... gotta lotta stuff in my head I gotta get through, see? And... Jess, well... I think she needs me, in a way." Grathix nods, "you're old enough to decide what you want and what direction your life should take...if that means you need to travel around with Jess a while, then, do so." Shenner slides you a look that almost suggests she's trying to reassure herself you're not angry. "I... do think I need it, yeah." Shenner then smirks, glancing down at her flute sheath as she fiddles with its laces. "Guess if I'm gonna start facin' the fact that I'm a girl, I kinda need an example around, yah know?" Grathix stands from his seat beside you. He says as he does, "Yes, exactly." Grathix stands and moves to stand before you, in front of you. Shenner blushes a bit, but smirks, without any real hostility, up at you. "Um... I ain't spent all your money... it's still in the guitar case. On the _Paw_. What I got left, I mean." Grathix chuckles, "That's okay...I'm the one who owes you, not the other way around. Still have to pay you for all that you've helped me out with you know." The kid frowns puzzledly. "Grath... I ain't done nothin', really..." Grathix grins, "Are you telling me how to spend my money Shenner?" Shenner gets up, half-grinning, now. "Hells, Grath, I ain't hardly enough money in my life to know how _I_ wanna spend it, much less tell somebody else." Grathix nods and grins, "Oh, but you will be. Trust me....you have potential Shenner, gonna develop by leaps and bounds...heck, one day you'll be the richest woman in teh galaxy.' Shenner smirks again. "I'll believe _that_ when I see it..." Grathix chuckles, "you will.' Grathix has left. Grathix heads up the boarding ramp of the Cat's Paw, the hydraulics hissing as it opens and then closes, steam issuing from within. [End log.]
