Log cast: Rayek, Stormwing Log intro: The Sun Folk still remain at the Palace, despite many turns' passing, and their situation seems to have alerted the attention of other tribes as well. Stormwing of the Cavedwellers approaches Wide Pass Through World's Spine Mountains(#356RJ) This wide pass is nearly an entire days' ride from one side to the other, from what you can tell. The sun is still hard and heavy here, but the looming presence of the mountains to either side seem to lessen the drain of the barren waste. The sun is high in the hot summer skies. Obvious exits: Mountains Northwest South [Rayek] Tall, graceful, but sort of gangly in a way you can't quite tell. His obsidian hair, occasionally flashing an indigo highlight or two, cascades over his shoulders and settles somewhere just above the small of his back. His eyes are slanted, almost serpentine, with long lashes framing golden-amber irises, a down-tilted nose set evenly between them. His face is finely chiseled and perhaps a little long, wisps of black hair curling slightly to frame his face, his skin a smooth, milk chocolate tone. A pair of upward sloping ears peek out from beneath his obsidian mane, elegant points on each tip. Gone are the yellowy garments of Glider-make, instead replaced with Sun Folk-woven cloth dyed simply in black and white. He wears a tunic with laces through the collar, tied loosely with the ends trailing down his front. The tunic tucks into a pair of black, formfitting leggings that, in turn, tuck into a pair of above-the-knee boots. A black cloak, deliberately cut ragged, is tied about his shoulders. The airwalker's mood could best be described as frazzled. He looks as if he's missed at least one night of sleep and his voice occasionally comes out hoarsely. Near the Palace, Stormwing has left. Stormwing moves away from the huge stone structure nearby. Stormwing has arrived. Stormwing looks at you for a moment. Rayek is outside, a black and white figure against the dusty brown of the rocks, his frame further darkened by the shadow cast by the summer sun, hiding in the vague coolness as he busies himself repairing a spear. A sharpstone is drawn carefully across the point in slow, then quick movements, the sound easily drawing attention to him. Stormwing strides out from the palace briskly. He looks around slowly as he moves and gives a faint smile and says, "Hello," when he takes notice of you. [Stormwing] A very broad-chested elf, looking in exceptional physical condition for his size (4'1"). His hair is wavy and brown in color and now tied up in a top-knot to symbolize his position as a chief. A curl has managed to flop forward from his forehead to dangle over one of his hazel eyes. A scarlet headband holds some of this hair out of his eyes sometimes. His face is smooth in appearance and very darkly tanned. A dark, sleeveless brownish vest covers his torso. It laces up the front to mid-chest level, the rest flopping open as he moves, his strong arms appear to be just as darkly tanned as his face is. He wears a set of leather bracers around his forearms and the hilt of a small dagger is sticking out of one of them. His breeches match the color of his vest and are tucked down into his leather boots. Amber eyes look up slowly, focusing on smaller elf for a long moment before his head inclines in a slight, slow nod. "Shade," Rayek offers in response. Stormwing starts to walk towards you now, "You look like the one I have been waiting for. You are Rayek, yes?" "Yes," the amber-eyed hunter replies mildly, the edges of his lips pricking in the faintest of smiles. His gaze returns to the spear, his attention apparently refocused on to it, yet he continues to address the Cavedweller. "I am Rayek." Stormwing nods his head slightly, "I am Stormwing, chief of the Cavedwllers. If you have a moment, I would like to speak to you about something concerning.." He shifts to the side to wave at the palace, ".. the palace." Rayek dips his head in another nod, slightly more polite than before. "Shade, Stormwing, Chief of the Cavedwellers." Well, slightly more, though now there's a thread of dry amusement. But that vanishes with his next words, replaced with wariness: "What about the Palace?" Stormwing stands just a few feet away from you and folds his arms across his chest, "Ever since I heard about the tragedy that befell Sorrow's End, I have been concerned about the safety of the palace. The humans are now closer to it than they have been for a very long time, and the fact that they even came to such a barren area such as Sorrow's End only further proves my point as to how much greater and unpredictable a threat they are. So I have come here to speak to you about moving it to someplace safer. The cavedweller holt." The Airwalker listens patiently without turning his eyes from the spear. Yet he pauses in his work, moistening his lips to pay full attention, and finally looks up when Stormwing is done, amber eyes studying him consideringly. "Mmn..." he murmurs noncommitally, tilting his head to the side, then, "That's ... very generous. But would the Cavedwellers be willing to share with the Sun Villagers?" Stormwing nods with a smile, "Most certainly. You see.. before coming here I went to the lodge of the gobacks. They have agreed to move to the cavedweller holt in order to be close to the palace once more and also to protect it from any harm. They are far better suited to dealing with unpredictable opponents. It is my hope that with them, the villagers, and my own tribe, we can start to unite some of the other tribes into one unit in order for our own protection." He steps forward and reaches out for the spear, "May I?" With a slight wave of his hand, Rayek nods, allowing the Cavedweller to take the spear. "By all means..." he murmurs distractedly, a black brow upraised. "Is the Cavedweller holt close to the Palace?" Stormwing clutches the spear in one hand, his other coming to touch the tip. The faint aura of magic that begins to emminate from his hand flows into the stone and the edges of the speartip begin to sharpen and the point becomes quite fine. The base of the stone starts to mold around the wooden shaft and tightens just enough to almost make the shaft crack. Soon Stormwing ceases his efforts and looks at you, "Mm, actually, no. It is a fair distance but not so far that I someone of your reputed power can take it. In my holt, there have never been any sign of humans. I had also taken the time to prepare the hole in the top of the mountain just for the palace's arrival. From there, it will be practically invisible." He hands the spear back to you. Rayek's eyes are intent upon the spear as the magic shapes and forms, eyebrows slowly arching with a grudging respect. "Impressive," he notes mildly. Then his attention turns back to you, his lips quirking ruefully, forming a false smile. "The Palace is not mine to fly. Tilia is Master of the Palace." He takes the spear, testing its balance, then nodding approvingly to himself. Stormwing's brow quirks at that, "Tilia? That name is unknown to me. How did she come to be master of the palace?" The Airwalker's false smile becomes even drier. "It's a long story. Suffice to say that Tilia no longer thought me capable in mastering it, and I agreed with her." A small frown appears on Stormwing's face, "I see. Strange I never heard of this.. Tilia. Of the ones with great magical abilities, I only know of you, Winnowill, and Leetah, and some inklings of these Underworlders. Tilia is not one of those, is she?" Rayek snorts derisively. "No." He pauses, then smiles faintly. "Go-Back, I think. Or she was. Now her place is with the Palace, as is mine." Stormwing blinks at that, "A goback? Well, that is certainly.. odd. She has the power to be able to utilize the palace?" "Obviously." Stormwing says "Do you think she would meet with me to talk about what I have just told you?" "If she's awake..." Rayek seems as if he would sigh, yet nothing escapes. His shoulders only tighten, squaring back. "Tilia has taken to contemplating the Scrolls for some seasons now." Stormwing frowns once again, "I see. Then perhaps I should wait in the palace for a time to see if she awakens.." Rayek's head inclines slightly, offering a faintly apologetic smile. "The Palace is open to all elves," he replies simply. Stormwing hms and nods. He seems a little disappointed, "Yes, thank you. Well, I think I shall go see if Ahdri wishes some further instruction." Rayek tilts his head to the Cavedweller, nodding slightly. "I'll speak to Savah on it..." he says after a moment. "Take care, Stormwing." Stormwing approaches the huge stone structure. Stormwing has left. Near the Palace, Stormwing has arrived. Near the Palace, Stormwing steps through the doorway into the Palace. Near the Palace, Stormwing has left. [end log]
