Log cast: Rayek, Rainor, Jyanda, Savah, Shenshen Log date: 12/9/98 Log intro: A call for help from the Mother of Memory brought the Palace to flight after many years' rest. Rescuing the thirty-odd Villagers that remained from a human invasion, the Palace now sports the remaining Village population in addition to its usual handful of residents and visitors. Rayek still suffers from sleep deprivation, though he has managed to catch a few winks here and there. The quiet of the Palace halls has given away to the busy-bodiness that Sorrow's End had been famous for, which has made it somewhat disconcerting for some of the more permanent residents. ------- You wander deeper into the bowls of the Palace... Living Hallway(#10296RAL) This is a smaller side-corridor with several rooms of varying sizes branching off on either side, suggesting that some of the High Ones themselves once lived in these rooms. Although not as spacious as the rest of the Palace, the corridor is no less majestic, even with the cracks and flaws caused by the stresses the Palace has gone through over the years. Some of the magic flowing through the renewed perfection of the main corridor provides a little light, diminishing as this corridor spreads away from its roots, as does the protection from the environment, though the cave-like feel to the place suggests that large fires here would serve to choke out the residents as well as warm them. The room at the end of the hall is the largest and holds no stone-slab High One beds, its original purpose lost in time. Contents: Rainor Jyanda Jackwolf camp ;jc(#6070JOeh) Sunfolk Refuge Obvious exits: Jyanda's Room Shenshen's Room Savah's Chamber Corridor Rainor is sitting on a pile of furs, chewing on a piece of dried meat "Shade Rayek" Rayek glides into the corridor, looking considerably more well-rested before, but nonetheless a tall, dark shadow in the entryway. A golden-eyed glance and a nod is offered in return to Rainor's greeting. "Shade and sweet water, Rainor." Rainor holds out a second piece of meat "Hungry?" The airwalker blinks consideringly, then dips his head a faint nod before moving forward, feet coming lightly to rest on the floor before he stoops into a half-kneeling position across from the villager. "I..... Yes, I.. am, actually." Reaching out, Rayek accepts the meat with a nod. "...Thank you." Savah emerges from Savah's chamber. Savah has arrived. Rainor smiles "You're welcome, have a seat join us?" Savah smiles to the gathered elves. Jyanda emerges from her chamber, looking about at the hall. Rainor looks over and smiles "Shade Savah, Jyanda, Hungry?" Rayek can be seen just now settling into a seat position across from Rainor, nibbling delicately at a piece of meat. "Thank you," the airwalker says again, mumbling it around his mouthful. Through the corners of his eyes he catches Savah's emergence and his head snaps up quickly, his mouthful disappearing with a few chews and a swallow. Jyanda smiles, spotting Rainor as he speaks, before nodding. "Shade, Rainor, Savah. I am, thank you." she moves towards the small gathering, watching Rayek for a moment before taking a seat. Savah walks over to the others serenely, and smiles to Rainor. "Not right now, dear." Rainor holds out the basket of bread and meat. Jyanda takes a piece of bread from teh backet, with a smile. "Thank you, Rainor." Rayek, after a moment of silence on his part, nods politely in Savah's direction and greets formally, "Shade, Mother of Memory." Jyanda takes a seat nearby, adjusting the pouch at her waist as she crosses her legs. Savah says "And to you, Rayek. Is all well?" The airwalker takes another bite of the meat and chews slowly as he answers, tone bemused. ** As well as can be expected, I think. ** Rainor says "Rayak did you know about the underworlders further down the mountains?" Savah inclines her head, once. Savah locksends ** Thank you, dear one, for saving us all. ** Rayek's chin seems to lift ever so slightly again, a shadow of the young hunter that left Sorrow's End so many years ago glittering in his eyes anew, then it passes as quickly as it came, his attention shifting to Rainor. The golden-eyed hunter arches a delicate black brow as he chews, then swallows: "...Underworlders?" Rainor nods "A handfull or so, and a wolfrider, and..a human serving them...They say they are on some sort of expedition You locksend to Savah, Rayek's copper-gold touch seems brighter than before, like dying embers relit into a flickering flame. ** I... Thank you, Mother of Memory. I'm glad that the Palace could help you. ** Savah's russet eyes show worry. Jyanda takes a bite of her bread, watching and listening silently, knowing so little of what is going on now. Savah locksends ** The Palace, and you. Your powers grow for each time I speak to you, it seems. ** The black-haired elf seems rather skeptical as he listens to Rainor, a faint frown creasing his face. "I haven't yet a chance to venture far from the Palace again," he says after a moment. "How far away were they?" Rainor ponders "A bit, past the catelves camp." You locksend ** (The flame flickers brighter briefly, then slows a bit. Once upon a time, the airwalker might've taken all the praise and hoarded it, but now something akin to a sheepish, distracted smile filters into his sending.) And Tilia as well... I, ah, couldn't have done it on my own. But... thank you. ** to Savah. Savah's lips pull into a small smile as she watches Rayek, with amused approval. Golden eyes stare at Rainor for a moment before they close with a few slow blinks. The airwalker swallows carefully and muses, "Not so far... hm." Rainor says "They weren't very friendly, and every time they said "no will spill dno elfblood" they'd add "this day.." frowns" Rayek looks thoughtful and nods, chewing and swallowing again. "We'll keep an eye out," he promises. He makes a mental note to ask around as well, but as far as this one's concerned, the party may just pass them by. With everything as it is now, he'd rather trouble come to them rather than go looking for it. Savah has disconnected. Rayek glances up briefly as Savah excuses herself and retreats back to her room. Brows furrowing briefly after her, the airwalker looks back to his meal and tries to focus his attentions on finishing it. Rainor finishes his lunch and looks at Rayek "So what do you do out here?" he asks curiously. Shenshen arrives from the Shenshen's Room. Shenshen has arrived. Rayek is seated across from Rainor, eating what appears to be the last of a piece of meat. "I guard the Palace," he answers simply between bites. Rainor says "thats all?" The airwalker arches an eyebrow and smirks unkindly. "Yes, that's all," he answers, an edge to his voice. Rainor says "but wht do you do for fun?" Shenshen comes out and rubs her eyes, yawning... "Hello everyone." She giggles softly.. "Dear Rayek chases elf maidens for fun." Rayek finishes off the meat and sucks on his fingers delicately before answering. A darker smirk is thrown in Shenshen's direction as he comments to Rainor, the edge no less sharp, "Whoever said I didn't enjoy doing that?" Rainor says "I didn't mean that, or that its not important but if you're garding the palace what I mean is, what do /I/ do?" Shenshen snickers softly and nudges Rayek in the arm. "No one did... I just like brining it up." The airwalker's eyes casually skim his surroundings to see if any more meat resides within reaching distance. "I never said I did it alone," he notes, then flicks a upraised brow in Shenshen's direction. He matches her snicker, but softer: "I was speaking to Rainor." Shenshen smiles and reaches into the bag, handing Rayek some meat. "There you go." Rainor holds the basket out to Rayak "I don't think I'ld be much help." Rayek's amber eyes glitter amusedly. His former tribemates do so like sharing food, don't they? Hiding a smirk from them both, the airwalker reaches behind him and comes up with a fruit saved from the Village's garden before everyone fled, pretending not to notice either the bag or the basket. Shenshen takes the food and throws it, wacking Rayek in the noggin. She giggles loudly. Bonk! "Hey!" Nearly choking on the fruit, Rayek's head snaps about to blink!blink!blink! at Shenshen, aghast. "Excuse you!" the airwalker splutters. Shenshen laughs loudly and takes some of the food and chews on it. "What's up?" Rubbing the back of his head, Rayek gives the auburn-tressed maiden a Look before tilting his chin up slightly and trying to regain some of his dignity. Nonetheless, a smirk curls on the corner of his lips. "Nope, not at all," he says out of the blue, bemused. Rainor says "Whats not at all?" Shenshen grins widely and continues to chew on her food....her eyes sparkling that she was able to one up Rayek once more... Jyanda finishes the chunk of bread that she held, before brushing hte crumbs from her front. seh shifts slightly, sot hat one hand rests on the pouch at her waist, that rests on her crossed legs. Rayek ever so casually jerks his thumb in indication of the maiden seated near him. "The change in Shenshen's sense of humor. It hasn't changed at all." Rainor says "Oh...too bad huh?" Shenshen chuckles softly, leaning back against the wall, chuckling loudly... "You've not changed either, Rayek." "Of course, I'm not the one throwing food at people." Shenshen grins widely.. "I didn't throw it.. I just tossed it..." Eyes like golden amber glitter with amusement, but also with tire. The airwalker finally managed to catch a good rest after countless sleepless nights, but there are still heavy lines beneath his eyes. "Ah. Heh. My mistake." [Shenshen] The first thing you notice about this she-elf is her firey red hair, pulled back in two tails, one over each ear. She wears a golden headband that holds her head like that, allowing only a few bangs to fall forward. Her face is heart shaped and full, with high cheekbones and angular brown eyes. They are framed by a small button nose and full red lips, which are almost always quirked in a smile. Moving down her form you see that she wears a matching necklace of gold. She is wearing a strapless bra of green with an orange border. Resting snugly betwen her cleavage is a small hoop with flat pieces of metal. On her right arm is another gold band, covering her bicep. Her hips are covered in the same material as her chest, ending early on her thighs, and leaving the rest of the tan flesh exposed. She is not wearing any shoes, letting her feet touch the earth itself. The fire headed elfess chuckles soflty and nods, pushing some hair back from her face... "I'm sure you slept well, Rayek..." She rubs her eyes. "You heard of the elves we found?" "Yes, Rainor told me about them..." The golden-eyed hunter gives the maiden a discouraging, concerned frown. "You shouldn't stray so far from the Palace. The mountains are not like the Village - predators prowl dangerously near at times." Shenshen grins widely. "I had an escort, Rayek." she nudges him. "Oh, and when were you concerned on my behalf." Jyanda remains silent through the talk, simply watching now that she is done her bread. Her free arm reaches back for her to rest on as she looks about. "You live in the Palace. I guard the Palace." Rayek's voice is quite serious as he fixes the whole of his gold-amber gaze upon her, slightly narrowed as he studies her face - then looks away, trying to brush it off with a casually shadowed smirk. "And I don't like to see anyone hurt, Shenshen. Even you." Shenshen chuckles and nods to Rayek, grinning widely.. "That's amazing." She says, winking at him with her ususal candor. "I'm so proud of you." "Wonderful. Now I can die happy know that I've made you proud." Shenshen grins widely and pushes her hair back gently. "Well good Rayek... Maybe you've changed other ways too.. but.. I doubt it!" Rainor chuckles. Rayek blinks and throws Shenshen a glance, eyes growing slightly wider and his cheeks burning briefly. Shenshen chuckles and gasps... hopping up to bat Rayek's cheek. "Oh my, he /can/ blush!" Rainor peers "you're right!" Jyanda watches, smiling slightly as she listens. The black-haired elf blinks, his eyes growing rounder still before narrowing briefly, scooting away from Shenshen and her teasing. "Hey!" Shenshen grins and giggles.. "I wonder..." She pounders for a few moments and then rushes Rayek, tickling him hard.. ...and a bright golden shield flares to life around the airwalker, all magic feelings in the room suddenly jumping to life as Rayek smirks mischievously to Shenshen through the eldritch glitter. "Excuse yourself." Rainor says "thats cheating!" Shenshen chuckles. "You never could play fair could you Rayek... You've not changed a bit." A laugh, soft as wind through the trees, escapes. "Cheating, maybe. But it works." Shenshen nods.. "Worked yes.. but are you so afraid of me to use magic, Rayek?" She laughs softly. "So you don't wish the touch of a female anymore? I remember when you used to chase both me and my sister." With a shrug, the airwalker rises into the air, magic still glittering around his black-garbed form. "As do I," he answers loftily. "But I have Ktai now." Shenshen grins widely. "Before you could never hold yourself to one elf... nor do I think you can now." Strange.. that coming from her. "But.. hey.. if you like winged elves." Rayek cocks an eyebrow at her, ready to argue her first point, then changes courses sharply at her second. "Ktai does /not/ have wings." Shenshen snicikers.. "I didn't mean literally.." She laughs softly.. "But hey...maybe you like joining while spinning around in the air." The airwalker shrugs lightly in response, pointing out with a smirk, "But I would be doing that anyway, even if she weren't a Glider." Shenshen chuckles and moves right up to the barrier. "Oh, Arrogant one?" She snickers softly. "I'm sure you try to do it all the time.. at least you did with Leetah.. till Cutter put you in your place, hey?" The golden shield glimmers briefly, echoing the clearing of expression from the airwalker's face as he meets Shenshen's gaze from where he's seated a handspan or so above the ground. "That was a long time ago, little chatterbox." Rainor pokes the sheid just to see what it feels like. Shenshen nods and smiles broadly, placing her hands at her hips. "Yes, but it burns inside you still. The only one to defeat you, Arrogant one.. .and put you back in your place.." She giggles. "Well, lets not dwell on that.. You're happy.. and I'm glad.. " The shield feels like... nothing. Nothing at all. It's as if Rainor is pressing his hand against a wall, but he cannot see what he is touching, only a faintly golden glow that indicates that it's there. Rayek casts the villager a brief glance through the corner of his eyes, then looks back to Shenshen, cocking an eyebrow. A corner of his lips quirks: "Indeed." Shenshen winks. "That you're here, so I can tease you more.." She spins around gleefully. "I missed that soooo much!" she giggles loudly! Rainor knocks on the shield to see if it makes a noise. "I'm honored," Rayek comments dryly, then glances around to Rainor, arching an upraised brow still higher at him. The shield makes no noise. "Enjoying yourself?" Rainor says "Just curious." "Mmm." The airwalker lowers himself back to the ground. The moment he touches bottom the shield vanishes. "Kindly keep your curiousity to yourself." Rainor says "Well excuse me, I was just impressed, I won't be anymore if it bothers you so." Shenshen laughs loudly.. "I'm sure.." she moves to Rayek... "Come on Airwalker..take me on if you can.." She hunkers down.. ."I doubt you can even get a tickle in." Jyanda looks to Rainor, tilting her head at his responce. Jyanda's one hand, that rests on her pouch, flingers the contents through the leather . Rayek doesn't answer the fire-tressed maiden, his attention instead focused on Rainor for the moment. The airwalker considers him for a moment, then rolls his shoulders lightly. "As you wish." That said, the amber-eyed hunter rises to his feet. Shenshen rolls her eyes.... "All bluster and no substance.. just as I've know and Cutter proved to all at the Sun Village.' "You like to dwell on the past, don't you, Shenshen?" Shenshen chuckles. "Only when you continue to show yourself non changing." Shenshen smiles. "I've got to go do some stuff." She snickers. "I'll see you later." Shenshen heads towards Shenshen's Room Shenshen has left. You locksend to Shenshen, Rayek comments after you, amused, ** And you said I was all bluster and no substance. ** Jyanda watches as her tribesmate leaves, her eyes flickering to follow her untill she's gone. Shenshen locksends ** You are.... <> ** You locksend to Shenshen, Rayek's mindtouch is fringed with gold and amber. ** As are you. ** Rayek's gaze lingers a moment after Shenshen as well, then a tight smirk fastens itself on his face. Without a word, the airwalker turns, his back to the remaining villagers, and heads towards the exit. Rainor says "See you later Rayek." The airwalker answers briefly, "Shade," before disappearing through the entryway. [end log]
