The morning after his father F'hlan and his little sister Mehlani both Impress new fire lizards -- his father a green, his sister a bronze -- Fahloran gathers with his family to bid Benden a farewell as he prepares to move to the Healer Hall to begin his initial studies. To help her son with the trip, Melora has come to Benden as well. And in the meantime, upset that Alyssa and Adonith had taken harm in a Threadfall, young Mehlani went to offer comfort to the blue rider and her dragon by way of silently giving Alyssa her treasured stuff toy, Whereth.... ---------- Dragon> Adonith bespoke Tzornth with << My rider has something of Mehlani's. She wishes to return it sometime. >> Tzornth> Adonith senses that Tzornth rumbles back, alertly, << Eh? What's that? >> Dragon> Adonith bespoke Tzornth with << Mehlani. She gave Alyssa something. *Image of Whereth*. >> Tzornth> Adonith senses that Tzornth relays back amusement. << Ah. Well, F'hlan says that if your rider wishes to come by, that would suffice, now; but you had better send your rider quickly because we are taking to the Healer Hall. >> Mehlani has arrived. Fahloran has arrived. Fahloran isn't jealous about his sister getting a flit. Nopenope. Adonith lumbers from the bowl. Adonith has arrived. Melora has arrived. Fahloran has his small bag pack and looks around the weyr one last time. Adonith croooooooooons to Mehlani and whuffles her affectionately before warbling a greeting to the bronze and his rider. Alyssa slides down the beautiful purplish blue flank of her lifemate to come to a rest on the ground, Adonith swinging his head around to regard her adoringly. Alyssa has arrived. Fahloran smiles. "'Lyssa!" Melora is doing the motherly checking that Fahloran hasn't forgotten anything important thing. F'hlan glances up at the entrance of the blue into the weyr, and smiles; he's clad for flying, and unsurprisingly, at least two of his greens are visible on his person. More surprisingly is the presence of the tiny bronze in a little sling around the neck of Mehlani. As Melora fusses over the older child, though, Mehlani looks up and smiles, ever so slightly, at Adonith. F'hlan himself says cordially, "Alyssa, welcome." Alyssa smiles as she dismounts, shaking her head. "I was on my way to run errands before I remembered I needed to come by," she tells Fahloran with a smile. Something is tucked in one arm, something she holds carefully. "Thank you, sir," she replies to F'hlan, saluting him, then she offers Melora a quiet and shy smile. Adonith tries not to bounce overly much at the sight of Mehlani, warbling brightly to her. Fahloran takes a deep breath, not wanting this to become too emotional or anything. "I guess we should get going, father," he says, trying to sound calm. His huge brown eyes dance with excitement, though. Mehlani trots over to Adonith and hugs him carefully, avoiding squishing her wee passenger. The baby bronze peeks out and coos at the big, big blue. Melora nods breifly at Alyssa, and turns to Fahloran, "Are you sure you have everything you want?" F'hlan glances at what Alyssa's carrying and smiles. "She's missed him," he murmurs, "but I'm sure she'll be glad he did you good." To Fahloran, he nods, easily. Fahloran nods to his mother. "Yes, ma'am," he says, giving her a warm look. Sure, she fusses, but she *is* his mother. Tzornth rumbles pleasantly and lumbers on out of the weyr, waiting for the humans to be ready to be ferried. Tzornth lumbers out of the weyr to the Bowl outside. Tzornth has left. Fahloran moves over to carefully hug his sister, avoiding her little passenger. "I will miss you, 'Lani." Mehlani displays her tiny companion for Adonith's inspection, and murmurs to the dragon, "This is Holl." And, as Fahloran comes to her, she readily turns, and hugs him back gently, eyes full. Alyssa turns to look at Tzornth as he leaves, then she coughs and says, "Sorry to intrude. Ahhh, Mehlani, you loaned me Whereth to keep me happy. I wanted to return him." Mehlani looks up from hugging her brother and nods solemnly. In her sling, Holl croons. Fahloran steps back and looks at his parents. "I will go wait by Tzornth, I think." Fahloran heads down the low steps to the Bowl outside. Fahloran has left. Adonith croons quietly and whuffles Mehlani. F'hlan turns to his daughter and hugs her gently; then, as the child gravely accepts Whereth back, F'hlan straightens and pats Mehlani's head. "You're in charge of guarding the weyr till I come back, alright, lass?" To that, the girl bobs her head. Alyssa sets down the toy wher. Mehlani gently picks up the toy wher. Mehlani murmurs to Alyssa, "Thank you." "No, Mehlani, thank you," the bluerider smiles, then heads back to Adonith. "We'd best get, ah, going." "As should we." F'hlan smiles to the blue rider, then turns to his weyrmate. "Beloved?" Melora is still glancing about to make sure nothing important got left behind. Spotting something, she grabs it, and nods. She turns to hug her daughter, "We'll be back to visit soon, sweetling." Alyssa uses the oiled straps and an extended foreleg to mount Adonith and, once settled between his neckridges, she rubs his hide adoringly and receives, in return, a loving warblecroon. Alyssa has left. Adonith lumbers out of the weyr to the Bowl outside. Adonith has left. Mehlani hugs her Momma, making Holl croon again, and then steps back to let her parents depart. And with that, F'hlan smiles softly, and steps out to follow his son and dragon. You head down the low steps into the... South Bowl(#298RL$) The southern half of the bowl is the largest. Its expanse stretches out, partitioned into sections by the color of the ground. The shore of the lake stretches out to the southwest. The bowl's patch of wildflowers, gardens and a few small small trees stretching out in that direction also, grading into the Runner Pasture. The rest of the southern bowl is pressed earth as hard as rock, raked with dragon talons from turns of launchings and landings. Towards the weyrling barracks, the ground is scarred in regular patterns from the performance of age-old drills. The rest of the ground is scarred more irregularly, and a large pile of firestone is stacked neatly by the wall. The ground also has black stains from the firestone. The training grounds and the meadow are both covered with a blanket of pure white snow, though it is trodden down in dragon-wide paths where the dragons move. Some fluffy white clouds skirt across the skies above you. Melora has arrived. Adonith swivels his head back toward the entrance to the weyr and croons sadly. Fahloran looks at his father, waiting. Melora hands Fahloran something. "Did you want to take this?" F'hlan inclines his head, once, to his son, then blinks at Melora. Fahloran looks at what his mother hands him. Ne nods, putting it into his bag. "Thank you, mother. I can't believe I forgot that." Settled between Adonith's neckridges, Alyssa blinks, as if realizing something. "Fahloran...you're leaving for Healer Hall...now?" F'hlan nods up to Alyssa, even as he quirks a brow at his mate and son. Fahloran nods to Alyssa. "Yes. They sent a messenger for me this morning." Settled between Adonith's neckridges, Alyssa blinks, frowning just a little, then she smiles. "Healer Hall will be the best place on Pern, then, Fahloran. A lot of other new apprentices will be there...you're bigger and braver, so you help the little ones be brave too, okay?" Melora glances sidelong at Alyssa as she finishes her speech, then turns to Fahloran. "All set, then?" Fahloran bobs his head, wanting Alyssa - and his parents - to know he will try to be the best, the most helpful, and the least troublesome Apprentice that Healer Hall has ever seen. "I will, 'Lyssa." He nods to his father. Settled between Adonith's neckridges, Alyssa nods. "We'll visit soon. Clear skies to your wonderful family, sir," she calls to F'hlan. Adonith takes flight, using the thermals rising from the bowl to carry him aloft. Adonith has left. With a soft chuckle, F'hlan murmurs, "Different from what, lad?" Fahloran smiles. "Different than I imagined." Melora smiles, "Or maybe you're just looking at it with different eyes, apprentice. Fahloran looks at his mother. "Apprentice," he repeats, smiling broadly. Fahloran holds his bag tightly, nervousness setting in. "I guess we should go inside..." F'hlan says firmly, "Apprentice." His tone holds pride. "Do you know if you're supposed to meet someone?" Fahloran nods. "Her name is Journeyman Stella." He looks about. "However, I don't know exactly where I was supposed to meet her." Melora smiles slightly, "Is there some main area she might be in?" Ziaran has arrived from the Healer Hall. Ziaran has arrived. Tzornth lifts his head and PEERS down at the new arrival, consideringly. Ziaran blinks. "What is it with dragons this time of the year?" he grumbles, still feeling his neck, a sooty black mark has been smudged around his left cheek. Ziaran smiles despite his crick in his neck. "Hi!" F'hlan glances up, then says mildly, "This dragon is bringing my son to be an apprentice here, lad." Fahloran waves at the boy. "Hiya." Tzornth EYES Ziaran, and rumblesnorts. Ziaran glances at F'hlan carefully.. "You're the one who tried not Impressing that green the other day in Benden correct?" he grins somewhat, and nods. "A new apprentice??" "Wonderful!!" Cenna has arrived from the Healer Hall. Cenna has arrived. F'hlan looks the apprentice up and down, and if he wonders why a junior healer apprentice was at a fire lizard hatching at Benden, he doesn't comment on it. He does smile, though, and nudge Fahloran slightly, to see if the lad wishes to take iniative on the matter at hand. Cenna smiles at the group, "Hello!" Ziaran bounces and nods to Cenna. Cenna grins to Ziaran. Melora smiles, amused. Fahloran smiles. "My name's Fahloran. This is my mother, Melora, and my father, F'hlan. And this is Tzornth." Isha has arrived. Fahloran watches as Isha barks and leaps out of his arms. Fahloran smiles. "And this is Isha." Tzornth RUMBLES, proudly. He is most assuredly Tzornth. Cenna nods, "I'm Cenna. It's nice to meet all of you!" Ziaran bows his head. "Well met.." he looks at the Dragon and chuckles, then to the canine. F'hlan inclines his head to the two healers, and puts in, "Is there anywhere our son needs to check in?" Cenna smiles, "Well, have you been shown around?" Fahloran shakes his head. "Just got here." Ziaran says "A couple places, CraftMaster Tess, and Headwoman Mayleyne...She'll fit him with the right clothes for the winter if he doens't already have them." Melora of course made sure he packed far more winter clothes than he needed ;) Cenna grins at Ziaran, "Have you shown him the Male Apprentices dorm?" F'hlan turns to fetch down the other belongings stowed in the bronze's carrybags. Then considers, and murmurs soemthing to his mate. F'hlan mutters to Melora, "What... you think?... to beat a..." You whisper "What do you think? Time for us to beat a departure yet?" to Melora. Isha barks at the strangers. Ziaran says "I just met him, Cenna, give me a break." Melora glances at her son and his new companions, and nods. Cenna grins, "Sorry, Just checking/" Ziaran presently has a large sooty mark on the left cheek, "Yeah right.." he grins at Cenna and nods to Fah. "That too...We should get a cot for you too." Cenna smiles warmly to fahloran, "Welcome to the healer hall!" Cenna smiles, "Would you like a tour?" Fahloran turns and looks at his parents. "I guess you will be leaving now?" he says... more a statement of what he wants than a question of their actions. Melora smiles at Fahloran, "We'll leave you to get settled, boyo." She gives him a fond peck on the cheek. Fahloran hugs his mother, and then his father. F'hlan's mouth curls up on one side; he embraces his blond-haired son, and says, "We'll leave you to handle getting settled in, but we won't be far, if you need us. Anra'll pitch a tantrum you can hear clear back to Benden if I don't stay hello to her before I go back to the Weyr." Ziaran grins at that statement. Fahloran grabs his bag and Isha's leash and follows his new friends. F'hlan concludes, "Take care, lad, and we're sure you'll do well." Melora smiles wryly, "She'll probably find an excuse to pitch one anyway, being at the harper hall has made her fond of her voice." She gives her boy one last hug, and leaves him to his new companions. Tess has arrived from the Healer Hall. Tess has arrived. Ziaran waves enthusiastically to Tess. Mishi has arrived from the Healer Hall. Mishi has arrived. Tess wanders out curiously. "I heard quite a commotion from my office window..." Cenna smiles, "Hello! We were just about to give Fahloran a tour!" Fahloran looks at the woman who can only be the CraftMaster. Ziaran presently has a dark sooty mark on his left cheek. F'hlan turns to help Melora back to Tzornth, but blinks, as Tess arrives on the scene. Then he straightens slightly; next to him, his dragon RUMBLES. Isha barks at the strange woman. Isha As you look down at the small puppy, he catches your glance and runs over to lick you once before bounding off to resume his playing. He is of the canine race but appears to be very young. You might be able to tell how old he is if you look 'closer'. His fur is bright white but has large black spots scattered from his nose to his tail. He has a collar around his neck with a 'tag' attached. He has very bright, brown eyes and occasionaly glances up at his master which shows him to be well trained to watch for commands. Type 'puppy commands' for a list of tricks that Spot can perform. Isha is a small puppy who appears to be 1 Turns, 6 months, and 25 days old. Tess blinks at the rumble from the dragon, quirking an eyebrow. She glances to the boy, who must be Fahloran. "Welcome to Healer." Tess looks at you for a moment. Mishi slips quietly out of the Hall, her hands folded neatly before her. When she sees the dragon, her eyes grow wide. When the dragon rumbles, she lets out a little squeak and ducks back inside. Fahloran smiles. "Thank you, ma'am," he says respectfully. "I am Fahloran. This is my mother, Melora, and my father, F'hlan." Mishi opens the great bronze doors and enters the Healer Hall. Mishi has left. Ziaran giggles some as he sees Mishi leave. F'hlan says politely, "Benden Weyr's duty to the Healer Hall, Craftmaster." he then smiles to his son. "We've met, though, lad; she came, as I recall, in with the last tithe train to the Weyr." Fahloran ohs. Melora smiles at Tess, "Greetings, Craftmaster." Tess nods to F'hlan, smilng warmly. "Healer's duty." She turns the warm smile to Melora. "Well met, Melora." Ziaran pipes up, his voice cracking too, "And I'm Ziaran.." Cenna smiles to everyone...happy to welcome the new healer. You say "Master Tess, Melora and I were about to leave our son in your Hall's capable hands; thank you, though, for your welcome." Ziaran bounces, watching everyone, grinning. Tess nods slightly, smiling down at the young man. "Well, then. Why don't we show you around, Fahloran?" Isha barks excitedly at the bouncing boy. Janus has arrived. Fahloran smiles and nods. "Thank you, ma'am." Cenna smiles to Janus. Fahloran waves to Janus, someone he knows. Ziaran blinks and waves to Janus, grinning, F'hlan, with that, takes his leave, inclining his head to everyone, and escorting his weyrmate up onto his dragon.
