Which came first, the hatchling or the egg?

Aerie
At the very summit of the Mountain you find the clearest signs of the transformation initiated by the Dreaming gliders at Winnowills bidding. The rocky surface is still shaped in intricate loops and whirls, echoing the wonder of the great Egg. Half familiar shapes can be sensed as much as felt among the twisting and folding surfaces..some utterly alien, others of a disturbing familiarity.
Pain cries from the walls, but so do joy, and wonder, and the dizzying echoes of the long gone Dreams. The gargantuan latticework forms a dome to crown the Mountain with shapes that from afar might seem to be the roots of some twisted tree. Even here, the tiny cracks can be seen criss-crossing all surfaces. The loops and folds open out to the open sky in unexpected places, and ways. Though none of the openings are larger than the armspan of a glider, and most much smaller, there are still few places left shadowed. The light of the sun and the moons weaves intricate shadows, that changes in fascinating ways as time passes.
In some nooks and crevices there have been placed furs or pillows, telltale traces of the gliders spending hours and days in dreamy contemplation of the sky. A winding stairway leads Down to the main parts of the Mountain.

Ekana
Aroree

Ekana starts to respond but glances around and changing her tone, ** She is doing well. She and I have become friends in here. And she's been teaching me to shape. **

Savith slips out of the hall of the Chosen. He looks about briefly before noting the small gathering in the Aerie. He descends to the ground and walks over to the group, announcing himself with little more than a nod ** A good day to all. **

Aroree looks at Ekana for a moment, wondering what it is she is not saying. but in no mood to press for details, especially with so many Chosen about. she offers a polite nod toward Savith ** Good day. **

Ekana blinks and turns to look. she smiles faintly and nods to Savith, ** Good day...**

Savith smiles broadly as he looks to the package Ekana is carrying ** Are these the items I requested? **

Ekana takes the sack over to Savith and nods, ** It is all here. **

Savith nods, grinning ** Thank you, my dear. ** he looks to Aroree ** Still in the business of collecting rumor I see. ** an amicable smile crosses his lips ** I hope it is good, what you hear. **

Aroree says "Merely curious, is that so bad? It has been many years since I walked these halls."

*<>* Ekana departs after delivering the goods to Savith.

Aroree says "Besides, the reason I came here was to see how things are. You know a better meathod than asking questions?"

Savith chuckles softly ** Oh, not at all. All is well, I was simply wondering if what you had been hearing suited you. **

Aroree shrugs, folding her arms "almost too good to be true"
Aroree says "I keep waiting for something horrible to happen to remind me why I left."

Savith nods a little bit, placing the package under one arm ** Perhaps in the time you have been away.. things have changed a bit more than you thought, my friend. **

Aroree says "I do not doubt that things have changed... but how much? It has not been that long a time compared to the age of the Mountain."

Savith nods a bit ** Perhaps.. but we have children now to draw our attentions away from bickering with eachother. ** he looks off in the direction that Ekana had left ** Or perhaps they have reminded us why we came here in the first place. **
Savith looks back ** Take my daughter for example.. She knows nothing of Voll or his dream, his vision.. but would you not agree that in many ways she is the embodiment of the same? **

Aroree, too, glances off in the direction Wolfie took "Perhaps." Voll's dream, strange what power two small words can have. A moment passes while she ponders...

Savith nods a little bit as he watches you for a moment ** Tell me.. what are the elves like in Sorrow's End? **

Aroree's desc:
She is tall, slendar and graceful as any glider, still there is something about Aroree which makes her seem out of place here, and it's not just her sun darkened skin. Her ashen hair glows almost white, bleached by the desert sun, and bound up, looped about in a more practical facsimilie of Mountain fashion. She is clad in an artful dove-gray costume of glider make, slendar throat covered in an elegant high collar, shoulders bared, flowing sleeves drape loosely from upper arm to cuff, a smooth line of a satin (in the exact same color) separates the long jacket from close cut leggings which end in snow white feathered boots. So very much a glider, and yet she floats hesitantly here, both knowing these halls well and feeling completely lost in them. She does not meet your gaze, unwilling to share what is written so clearly in her eyes, she is haunted by the memories she sees here, and by a sorrow that runs very deep within her soul.

Aroree looks back at you, abandoning her line of thought, what place have old dreams here? "Content. I rather envy them."

Savith nods a bit, tilting his head ** And you are not content? I have seen the shadow you carry with you.. a great sadness by the looks of it. ** he pauses a moment, watching you ** What is it, my friend, that weighs so heavily on your soul? **

Aroree says "Thinking of no more than tending thier gardens, planning the next festival. most of the time at least. They love thier village and each other." Aroree looks away "I would rather not speak of it."

Savith nods a little bit, studying you for a few moments ** I will respect your wishes then. ** he appears a bit troubled at that but lets the subject drop.

Aroree spends an awkward moment despirately trying to think of a way to change the topic of conversation. eventually "How fare the hawks? any new clutches?"
Aroree does not have 'share innermost feelings with loyal Chosen' on the top of her 'things to do' list.

Savith looks to the nesting ledge and shakes his head a bit ** I'm not certain they have bred in a turn or so.. perhaps they will be due for a new clutch soon. **
Savith he grins a bit at the change in subject, noting it privately to himself.

Aroree watches one large bond bird preen himself "I've often thought they were our greatest achievement... the great hawks. I wonder what it would be like to have the sort of bond a wolfrider has to his mount."

Savith arches a brow at that ** The birds are our mounts, not our cousins, my friend. Does the thought of mating with birds sit well enough with you to pursue such a curiosity? **

Aroree offers a slight smirk "Not personally. I just wonder at the depth of such a bond, haven't you ever wondered?"

Savith chuckles softly and shakes his head ** I am afraid I haven't.. though now I wonder what one would bear as a result of such a copulation.. a hatchling.. or an egg. ** Savith shrugs a bit ** Or perhaps a cousin for Tyldak.. **

Aroree arches a brow at Savith "You've been thinking about this a lot?"

Savith shakes his head, musing a moment more before looking back to Aroree ** No.. just since you mentioned it actually. ** he grins a bit ** Perhaps I should have been more reserved in my response. I apologize should I have offended you, my friend. **

Aroree almost chuckles. unusually cheerful for her of late (something about this place is downright depressing to her, go fig ;) "I'm not sure if I should be more offended or amused."

Savith nods a bit, a grin tugging at the corners of his lips ** Well, I assure you that I would be most thankful should your amusement win out.. then perhaps I could rest knowing that my duty, as I expressed to you before in this very place, was fulfilled. **

Aroree shakes her head "You," she muses "are entirely too cheerful"

Savith nods in agreement ** Perhaps simply making up for time lost wandering about with the weight of regret upon my shoulders. **

Aroree says "Have you found contentment, then?"

Savith pauses at that, and actually contemplates an answer for several moments before his gaze settles upon you again ** In truth? No. There are yet many things that will change in my life, I am certain. Contentment is the enemy of progress, quite possibly the largest enemy we face here in the mountain. But I have learned that regret is the ally of decadence.. and serves no good for the soul. **

Aroree absorbs your little speech thoughtfully, finds interest in watching a roosting bird "I supose I am decadent then? In all my regrets." she shakes her head again. "If contentment is an enemy, it is one I should like to court for a change. A lack of progress perhaps, but one I should like to taste."

Savith smiles a bit, watching her watch the birds ** Then perhaps you should.. though I would hardly call you decadent, yet. **

Aroree says "ah, then there's hope yet. You will warn me when I start being decadent? Should hate for it to creep up on me." The words are meant to be lighthearted, cheerful, but her voice hasn't much practice with such emotions and they fall flat. Savith tilts his head ** Would a warning do you any good? **

Aroree glances back at you "You think it wouldn't? I do occaisonally listen to advice." Aroree spreads her arms wide "After all, I let Ietro talk me into this" (the outfit)

Savith grins a bit ** Aye.. though it seems to me you bear a particular resentment towards Chosen. Am I mistaken? **

Aroree starts to respond, thinks better of the words she almost says and after a deep breath speaks "You are mistaken. It is not resentment."

Savith tilts his head ** What is it then? **

Aroree sighs and answers truthfully with a glance toward you "complicated." she looks away again, easier to speak without looking at you.
Aroree says "For so many years, the law of the Eight was all I knew, all I wanted to know... the Chosen are important to me, I... I'm not sure how to explain it."

Savith makes his way over to one of the niches, curling up a bit inside, watching you as he listens. When you finish he tilts his head to the side ** What happened to change that? Or has it? **

Aroree walks over toward the nesting ledge, runs her hand along one of the shaped stone curley-cues "It hasn't. I can never be a part of that again, but still... it is important. I feel... " feel what? responsible?

Savith arches a brow, finishing the statement ** You feel that we will never forgive you for abandoning us? **
