Thank you. =================================================================== Base of the Lost Holt Father Tree A dense grove of grotesquely shaped trees dominated by one immense Grandfather of a tree whose age is no less great than its size. It is obvious that the old tree has survived a terrible tragedy and you can see some of the scars left by the terrible blaze on the snow covered branches. Snow lies piled around the trees roots and in drifts around the Father Tree. Like old friends, the gnarled trees embrace one another, their many branches entwined and now snow collects atop them, occasionally crashing down to the ground below. You awaken in the cold winter night to the sound of cracking and snow falling, perhaps from branches above. Contents: Clover Haikari Bramble Snowsplash's Litter Bearpaw Tailchaser Snowsplash Patience Obvious exits: Into the Tree Around the Tree Clearing Silent walks up to the Father Tree from the clearing. Haikari wanders into the clearing with a bright bolt of green mothcloth draped over her arm. She moves toward one of the large roots jutting up from the ground and sits down to examine the cloth with an engrossed expression on her face. Dewshine walks out of the Father Tree. Bramble is already in the clearing, having found a nice root to sit on with a fur wrapped around her shoulders. She has found a comfortable place to sit and watch the happenings of the holt go by. Light laughter precede the sound of light feet, distinct scrambling and running, from around the Father Tree. Flashfire might be seen first, followed by a brightly smiling and laughing Clover on heels. "Come back here, you!" The maiden calls out, light-heartedly after the elf she chases. Silent leans against a tree holding his spear next to him, resting it on the ground. His in a direction away from the clearing, mostly listening to the going-ons. He turns a little when he hears clover. Skywise walks out of the Father Tree. Flashfire hops over a root before getting himself caught up on it, leaping up to a low branch. Early whitecold, but not yet snowy. Even still, his fur has grown out as the air gets ever colder, preparing him for the wintry season. "Gotta catch me!" he calls back to Clover, playing hard to get. Up another couple branches he goes. Haikari runs her hands over the mothcloth draped across one arm and her lap. Her gaze stays glued on the gayly colored fabric as she opens it up, revealing another layer of color underneath, this layer being a blazing red. She glances up at the sudden commotion, notes the entry of several wolfriders and goes back to inspecting her fabric. Dewshine comes out of the Father Tree, stretching rather mightily for someone of her small size. And then she dodges out of the way of Flashfire and the pursuing Clover. Skywise is perched up on one of the branches, just barely avoiding the climbing Flashfire. He grins widely, someone is in an awfully playful mood? "Watch out, snoozing here!" "I will!" Lithe and swift, Clover follows Flashfire's path. The brightness of her playful smile is only competed with the brightness in her eyes, on her merry chase for the furred elf. It takes a moment, before she registers the others. "Oh, shade!" The greeting is as bright as the rest of the maiden. Suntop walks around from behind the Father Tree. "Not a chance..!" Flashfire exclaims again, eeping as he nearly barrels into poor Dewshine, a faint breeze passing Skywise when he darts on by. "'Scuse me! Coming through!" First time in a while that Flashfire's actually been in an openly playful mood. Maybe it's got something to do with the she-elf chasing him, the one whose life he saved. Quickly, he spares a glance towards Haikari, noting the threads she has. Then it's higher into the tree. Bramble chuckles as Flashfire and Clover race through. She looks envious as she won't be racing anywhere probably for another season or so. But watch out when she can. She lets the fur around her shoulders drop a bit as she leans forward to watch the race, displaying her pregnant belly for those who weren't aware of her condition. "Hoooooyyy!" The stargazer clings on to the branch, then just lets gravity take control and tumbles down. Of course, its a controlled down tumble, a graceful taking of the ground with a soft thud. "Cubs.. " he mumbles, though eyes dance with enjoyment of the scene. And he follows the scene, too. Silent tapes his pear on the ground twice, not for any reason in particular, as on the ground it barely makes a sound. He looks briefly to the side as Skywise lands a little closely to him. Perhaps he felt the concentrated group of elven minds at the base of the Father Tree...or maybe he decided just to wander towards the Father Tree...Suntop does not make his motives known as to why he appeared in the area, but he comes sauntering in, jumping back as Flashfire and Clover barely miss knocking him over. He quirks an eyebrow to the others gathered, "Did I just interrupt something?" But the smile fades as he catches sight of the Glider. He doesn't -exactly- frown, but neither does he turn a smile to her. Clover laughs brightly and swishes past Dewshine and Skywise - then Suntop. "Oh, watch it. Sorry!" It doesn't hinder her at all, in her race for the back of Flashfire. Swinging under a branch, she settles her feet long enough on the low hanging branch to jolt up to the next. Crouching there a moment, her smile widens in a feral expression before a daredevil pounce towards Flashfire. Silent tilts his head slightly and sends greetings to Skywise. Haikari recognizes Suntop's send and looks up. Something akin to a smile hovers on her lips as her bright gaze finds the mystic. ** Greetings to you. .** she sends as her hands still in their task of searching for imperfections in the weave of the mothcloth. Flashfire spares a quick glance over his shoulder to chart Clover's position in comparison to him. Whoa..closer than he thought, and he grabs hold of a branch above and swings himself up before balancing on his stomach. "Looks like you missed me." he notes, teasingly. Again he glances towards Haikari from behind a couple branches. What's a Glider doing here? Skywise decides the ground is safer, for now. "Not that I know of, Suntop." He greets the Chief-son and Silent, before glancing over at Haikari. Hmm, does she know of Aroree, one wonders. Bramble looks up and smiles at Suntop's words. "Nope, just Flashfire and his new friend being a little rambunctious." Of course that's fairly obvious. She glances back and forth between the chasee and the chaser. "I think Flashfire's gonna get caught." Suntop sends a bit of a glance to Bramble (a protective one, perhaps) before moving closer to the Glider. ** Greetings... ** He's not too sure how he should be around her...after all, this particular Glider saw some sides of him no one else ever has. But that was turns ago... ** I did not know you had left the Mountain. ** Perhaps that's his subtle way of asking 'What are you doing here?' A real smile graces Haikari's mouth as she watches Suntop approach, apparently his actions at their last meeting have been overlooked. She lifts the arm with the cloth draped over it and moves a hand to draw attention to it, **I was in need of some mothcloth and heard that the Traders were here so, I came here instead of wandering across the waste for it.** Silent turns back to look away from the clearing, which would be facing forward. He does turn back as the glider sends and looks her over briefly before leaning his spear on the tree and stepping out to look on. His expression is his usual. Very solid and unreadable. Clover might not have caught the part of Flashfire she wanted to at first pounce, but seeing he is hanging over a branch like he is, she has a clear path to his feet. With a squeal of victory, she latches on there, wrapping her arms about the furry legs. "Gotcha!" She better have a prize after this chase. Skywise finds himself moving closer to the Glider too, though settling a short distance away. "Did you just come from there?" he asks. "Did you see Aroree?" And all the unasked questions that question brings. Is she alright, is she happy, is she even there? Flashfire yelps as his legs are snagged by a certain Clover, resulting in his balance being thrown off, slipping from the branch to hang from it, hands trying to keep himself from falling. "Hey..! Leggo, you!" he barks, still happy at least. He wriggles, seeing if maybe she'll slide free. Don't pull out any of that fur... Well, since they're all pestering the glider now, Bramble stands up to get a closer look, moving to stand next to Suntop. She actually hasn't seen that many gliders from Blue Mountain, so her expression is fairly curious, as she pretty much stares boldly at Haikari. Silent stops as everyone nears the glider. She was looking for Traders and he's the one who's currently around. He heads back to his space, but not before looking up into the tree and sending greeting to Flashfire. A teasing smirk also very briefly passes over his face. Clover's feet swing back and forth, until they find the low branch and she can release her grip on Flashfire. Her laughter pearls through the branches and down, as she quickly makes a quick path downwards. Perhaps the tables turn, now. Suntop wraps an arm around Bramble's burgeoning waist...yes, for those who are not up to Holt gossip, the two have been seen together quite a bit. He doesn't relax or tense as the Glider states her business, merely glances briefly at Skywise before nodding. He then glances at the cloth a moment...he seems to be thinking through what his next words should be. He finally settles for, "Welcome to LostHolt then." It's bland, but it's better than starting something...he isn't even sure if he wants to. It was long ago and he's not one to hold grudges. Haikari's smile falters a bit as she notes that everyone seems to be making their way over. She glance around but, lets her gaze stop on the silver-haired elf that fires off questions, ** I know her, yes.. and last I knew she was in the mountain. Though I have been a bit preoccupied with my sewing of late.. ** she admits to not being quite on top of the gossip from the depths of Blue Mountain. Flashfire grits his teeth as Clover scores one. So maybe the game's "Catch the elf?" Letting go of that branch, he maneuvers his way down the tree, towards those gathered on the ground. So there's a group around the glider? At least sort of, hmm? He peeks past a couple, a wary glance. Laughing, Clover takes the ground and speeds towards Dewshine to hide behind her. She's oblivious to the tension, thoughts only occupied by playfulness and joy of the moment. Swinging past and behind Dewshine, she then takes a sharp turn and heads straight past Suntop and Bramble, the tall Elf-maiden seeming the perfect place to hide. Or climb, should the need occur. Bramble grins at Suntop as the arm comes around her waist before returning her gaze to the glider. Tilting her head to one side she ponders that its awfully far to come for mothcloth. But the folks of the Mountain have ever been strange, the little she's seen of them. Silent glances over again watching Clover and Flashfire. Seems to be the most interesting thing to him at the moment. Skywise gives a nod towards Haikari, for answering his question there. He glances to Suntop, then leans back where he's resting against one of the roots now. He's surely kept up with gossip, or better yet, gotten that bit of info from the healer. He has to grin, cheekily as is his way, at the playing couple. "Have things been the same in the Mountain?" The mystic asks finally. It is too much to hope for that Winnowill somehow decided she was tired of it all and had herself wrapped up in wrapstuff. As for being a bit far for mothcloth, Suntop agrees, but the desert is even farther. A glance is given to the 'cubs' as well as they continue to chase each other about the Holt. Dewshine watches Clover dance around her, behind her and then back away. ** What in the name of the High Ones? ** she grins, then crouches, springing for a low hanging branch to get out of the way. Silent can't help but grin watching Dewshine. He leaves his spear where it is and crouches on the ground. Haikari's attention is quickly drawn back to Suntop and she offers him another genuine smile before speaking in a musical voice, "Much the same, though Lord Winnowill has learned what it is to have patience of late." She notes the two elves running hither and yon around the clearing but pays them little heed as she converses. Flashfire lifts up on his toes as Clover darts past a couple others to linger near Haikari. "Stop hiding behind others, Clover.." he insists, looking up and over Haikari, at her mountain-esque attire. First time he's gotten a closer look at her, and his eyes travel towards hers. Haikari ------- Tall and willowy as the rest of her Glider kin, Haikari stands a full, five and a half feet. Her slender, curvaceous form is covered by a dark blue, satiny dress that gives off a faint rustle with her every movement. A high collar of snowy white fur encircle her neck and covers her shoulders above her tightly fitted sleeves. A diamond shaped keyhole neckline reveals a bit of cleavage above the dress' tightly fitted bodice. A pale blue belt encircles her waist, dropping to a point in the front, just above the split in the dress' overskirt that falls in a gentle curve to her calves in the back. Her pale blue underskirt has a slit high on her left thigh and trails in a short, silken train behind her when she lights upon the ground. Downy, white feathers trim each point of the dress and a pair of dark blue slippers cover her slim feet. Haikari's wavy, knee-length, chocolate hair has been pulled into an intricate knot at the crown of her head. A silver band holds the knot securely while a second, narrow band encircles her head above her dark, finely arched brows. Twin curls are left loose at either side of her heart shaped face in front of her delicately pointed ears. Two dark feathers have been inserted into the base of her coiffure on either side and can be seen from any angle. Her features are sharply defined yet, somehow the mixture of high cheekbones, narrow, pertly-upturned nose and full-lipped mouth gives her face a definate feminintity. Of all her facial features, Haikari's expressive eyes are the most striking with their almond shape and dark blue color that shine with an inner light. Clover giggles, leaning to one side to see Flashfire in front of Haikari. "I'm not, she's not even helping." It's her turn to insist anything is fair in love and play. She then eyes the moth cloth in Haikari's arms, and squeals in delight. "Oooh! That is beautiful!" She comes around now, to have a closer look. Bramble loses some interest in the glider who hasn't done anything out of the ordinary yet. What about all those tale's she heard. They're supposed to snatch babies and tear people's minds out, but this one hasn't seemed to do any of that yet. But she continues to watch for a little long, just in case. Skywise glances up, as Dewshine takes to the tree too now. He flicks a grin her way, then returns his attention to the conversation nearby. Suntop finds that a bit hard to believe. "Patience?? How?" The idea of the Black Snake learning about patience...perhaps there is hope for her yet. He turns as Flashfire comes close...does he remember her from the Mountain so long ago? Before the two were touched by the Snake? Haikari's gaze travels once more across each face in the semi-circle around her. She starts to send a reply to Suntop.. or Clover but, clear blue eyes meet a pair of lupine amber orbs and her send fizzles as she lifts her fingers to her mouth to cover the startled dropping of her jaw. Silent stands up as the chase ends. He turns and decides to watch the semi-circle form. As if wishing not to crowd her more than she is he stays back, but watches. He eyes the mothcloth and recalls she was seeking the traders. Haikari locksends ** A brilliant flare bursts forth in your mind as a name you've never heard before burns it's way into your consciousness and thrums there, seemingly with a life of its own, **Vihr** The object of your curious gaze, the Glider called Haikari.. unwittingly fills your mind with the very core of her being and you sense that the same has just occurred to her. ** Flashfire doesn't really remember Haikari, no. Not too many things he can recall from that first trip to Blue Mountain. But whatever the others do or say is rather lost on him, the wolfelf suddenly going rigid and stiff as he can't even bring himself to peel his eyes away from Haikari's. He doesn't even blink, really, his jaw also hanging suddenly before he twitches once, lips forming a silent word. You locksend to Haikari, Flashfire's mind recoils at first, but the pull is far, far too strong for either you or him to just shut out. Like you, his sense of self forces itself upon you, hitting you with that which he really is: ** <> ** What you see, though, is something of an enhanced image of the fuzzy wolfrider standing there - more wolfen, the animalistic features stronger and more pronounced. Recognition strikes. Ignorant to what is happening between the Glider and Flashfire, Clover brightly calls Dewshine down from the tree. "Dewshine, come look at this." There's no way Clover will be able to get it, but she can always look at it. Bramble shivers, well she was wondering if the glider would do anything, and she guesses that happened. But having recently been through the process herself she realizes pretty quickly what's happening. She wraps her arms around the swell of her stomach, sighing. Oh, Flashfire. Skywise, the rocket scientist, goes entirely stiff at what happens right there. He sits up and looks carefully between the two, his eyes darkens in a sad hue when they finally rest on Flashfire. Oh puckernuts. When he's not answered, Suntop looks to the focus of Haikari's gaze. Oh, High Ones... He moves from Bramble's side closer to Flashfire...just in case. Dewshine's eyes go wide as she witnesses the look between Cutter's adopted son and the visiting Glider. Oh, no. Not this. Not again. Another child torn between two worlds. Silent watches for a moment. He then turns and leans back against the tree. His spear begins to fall over. Silent reaches out ah hand griping it before it can attract attention. Gayly colored cloth slips from the Glider's suddenly numb fingers to pool on the ground at her feet. Haikari blinks once.. twice.. and finally deigns to move. She darts to her feet though she actually hovers a few inches from the ground. She forgets the cloth, the conversation.. everything but, the two warring urges within her and makes a choice. Silently.. regretfully, she shakes her head and turns her eyes toward the moons above just before she floats skyward and disappears beyond the treetops. Flashfire fights to peel his eyes away from Haikari's, finally managing as she begins to move, just like him. Somewhere, he can figure out that at least one other here is approaching him, more eyes on both the wolfrider and glider. He staggers backwards as he starts to look up at Haikari again, suddenly quite antsy as he backs away slowly, shaking his head. "N-no..! Can't be..not t-that!" "Flashfire?" Clover's first impulse was to pick the cloth up, then Flashfoire's mutterings catch her attention. She startles and jumps back, as Haikari *floats* up, and up! The golden flecks in her bright gray eyes shows clearly, her eyes round as saucers. It takes a moment, before she manages to focus back on Flashfire. "Flashfire?" Suntop reaches out to catch Flashfire before he falls, "When eyes meet eyes..." he recites the beginning of the poem, but it seems to be yet another strange choice of Recognition. But perhaps it could partially work out...after all, Haikari and Flashfire aren't exactly enemies, are they? At least they weren't. "Flashfire..." He starts, but then shakes his head. Bramble reaches out, taking the few quick steps necessary to lay a hand on Flashfire's arm as she watches the glider take off into the night. Oh, no. This can't be good. Silent runs his finger along the speartip. He turns to say something but thinks differently. He glances up watching the glider leave. You sense in a locksend, Bramble sends no words but just a complete and open understanding of just what you're going through. She's just been through it herself, and the match between underworlder and wolfrider wasn't exactly perfect. Skywise gets on his feet, eyes following the disappearing Glider with a frown. "Owl pellets!" he cusses, that's not what either of them need, really. He's seen a couple of elves deny Recognition, and it ain't pretty. He glances between Suntop and Dewshine, then nods slightly. Dewshine steps toward Flashfire, her face a picture of unhappiness. She kneels to pick up the bolts of cloth. ** You should return these to her, Flashfire. ** At the touch from Suntop, Flashfire half falls, half turns towards him, clutching at his arms with that wide-eyed look still plastered on his face, even as the one he's Recognized makes off. "She..I..." he shakes his head again, as if trying to just brush off what's just happened. No chance, there. And no, Flashfire and Haikari aren't enemies, but consider where she lives. Bramble's private send goes unanswered, Dewshine's words at least faintly nodded to. Clover watches as the one's close to Flashfire surrounds him in their support, a slightly panic struck expression to her features. She understands what just happened, took a moment but she's got it now. Young as she is however, the tales of Recognition she's heard of were none as strange as this one. Weren't the two supposed to go off, together? She wraps her arms about herself, standing back. Cutter walks out of the Father Tree. Silent looks back around. Friends, family... Some things he could say, some things he probably should say, all of them he won't. He is a visitor and it's not his place. He taps the spear quietly, feeling uncomfortable in a place he'd for once felt comfortable. Bramble rubs Flashfire's shoulder in what she hopes is a comforting gesture. If maybe they can just get him calmed down a little bit, this can be worked through...somehow. Suntop clasps Flashfire's arms and holds him until he catches his balance, "Flashfire...Dewshine is right. You should take the cloth to her..." His eyes raise to meet those of the others about. What a strange thought...Flashfire as a sire. Of course, Recognition isn't a bad thing. Skywise too comes to lay a hand to Flashfire's other shoulder, nodding his agreement to Dewshine and Suntop's suggestion. "Aye, you have to find her Fur-cub." Even if that doesn't sound like an appealing thought, since the most logical place for the Glider to flee to would be Blue Mountain. Cutter comes padding into the clearing looking slightly relaxed after hunting. A pair of ravvits dangle from one hand while his bow is held loosely in the other. He notes the elves gathered around Flashfire and the sends flying around which causes his brows to arch in curiosity, **What's going on?** he queries everyone in the clearing. Silent keeps his gaze forward and speaks "The Wolf-elf recognized a glider..." Flashfire sinks down a bit more, this time to his knees. They feel like soft leather right now, no strength to them at all. Confused, he looks up at Suntop as he, too, talks to him about the cloth, the bright cloth. Now him as a sire is definitely a strange concept. But perhaps not all Recognitions are good things. Consider: "I..have to find her.." he repeats Skywise's words, looking up to him next, then Bramble. "But she..I know where she'll go..." Skittish, that's him. Oh, Cutter's here too? Clover looks at Flashfire, then looks back to the sky. How do you find an elf who just flew away? Bramble knows, there's a connection there, that will never go away. Besides there's a fairly obvious place for the glider to go. She sighs, ** Will you be okay if you go alone? ** She's a bit concerned about the furry elf's state of mind at the moment. Suntop crouches so that he is still on Flashfire's level, but looks up at his Glider-tall father a moment before back to his soul-brother. "I'll go with you, if you wish..." He doesn't want to, but he doesn't want Flashfire to have to face the Mountain alone. Cutter's brows nearly disappear beneath his shaggy bangs at the shock of knowing his adopted cub has been struck by Recognition. He glances around noting the lack of any Gliders in the area, **Where is she?** he asks sounding slightly confused now. Silent steps away from the tree he's leaning on. He takes a few steps toward Cutter and shrugs. "She flew away." He points into the sky where Haikari flew off. Flashfire swallows as his now-troubled gaze finds Bramble. "I..should be. Have to go. After her." The words are a little short, quick. It'll be something of a journey by wolfback, even pressing things. His head comes to rest on Suntop's shoulder for a time, murmuring again. "Don't..go. Need to..I mean, don't need anyone else getting in trouble there." As if he's already determined there'll be trouble for him when he arrives. Seems Silent's otherwise brief answer covers Haikari's whereabouts well enough, but the wolfelf's eyes lift again, as if he knows right where she is, though she cannot be seen any more. Skywise looks at Cutter, its nearly guaranteed the two are talking privately. Suntop nods once, resting his hand on Flashfire's head for a moment. "If you need anything...anything at all, just send. I'll hear you." He understands the need to go even if he has never experienced the pull of Recognition. As he stands he helps Flashfire up...he should leave soon so he won't be too ill to make it there. Clover shivers, as if cold. Why does it sound like he's headed in to the lions den, with those statements, and everyone is so serious too. Uncertain of what to do, feeling more out of place then ever before, she waits for the right moment to slip behind the Father Tree. You sense in a locksend, Dewshine enfolds you in a mental embrace, sharing her own experiences of Recognition in the Mountain. She won't touch you, there are already too many others around you, but she can only give you some comfort that things /will/ turn out all right. Bramble nods, although a part of her too wants to go along and make sure Flashfire's all right. Of course there's kind of an impediment at the moment. "Be careful." The words are laced with several meanings, be careful on the journey, be careful in the Mountain, be careful with Haikari... Cutter locksends ** You're going to the mountain alone? <> ** You locksend to Dewshine, Flashfire sends a faint sense of gratitude, well aware of the hardships you were faced with when you Recognized Tyldak, even if all he really knows of it is in story and memory. ** Th..thank you.. ** You locksend to Cutter, Flashfire's send-self is still unsettled, though he's coming more to grips with things, getting under control. ** I have to.. ** Dewshine locksends ** You are not alone, Flashfire. I...I will go with you if you want. You do not have to face this journey alone. <> ** Dewshine gets a look on her face that should remind most of her cousin, her chin coming up a little in stubborn determination as her eyes flicker with the secret language of sends. Flashfire will be as careful as he can be, but there's no telling what state he'll be in after making the ride to Blue Mountain. He nods to Suntop's talk of sending if he needs anything. Of course he will, given the chance to do so. "Aye..promise, brother." he says, hugging the mystic. He's answered others via send, but tries to cover all at once as he lifts his head again, keeping upright on his own power. "I have to go..and find her and do what we have to do. I don't know what will happen...but I don't want anyone else to get in trouble because of me." Implied is that he thinks this is something he must do alone. Skywise pats Flashfire's shoulder, then goes to stand next to Cutter. He doesn't like the idea of Flashfire going alone, first off, you are not all there when Recognized and it's not carried out yet. It just doesn't fall easy to him, at any rate. Bramble scratches Flashfire's ears as a good-bye before stepping back and wrapping her arms around her again. Why do the majority of recognitions seem so bloody hard on everyone. What happened to the simple eyes-meet-eyes between elves of the same tribe who then settle down to be lifemates. Cutter glances over at Skywise, exchanging glances with his soul sibling just as furtively as they exchange sends. His gaze then turns back to Flashfire, **I'd prefer that you didn't go alone, Flashfire. The mountain's dangerous enough without Recognition to color your decisions.** Clover takes another wide-eyed look around, then slips off. Clover walks away from the tree, back into the clearing that marks the entrance to the Lost Holt. Scouter walks around from behind the Father Tree. Flashfire eyes the way to his den, wondering about his spear. He'll need it to hunt along the way, of course. Can't go the full distance without catching meals. He has no idea what the pull of Recognition will do to him by the time he gets to his destination, so someone else should have a better idea of that, hopefully. StormBrindle rounds a tree, expecting a run. A long one. But Flashfire looks towards father now, suddenly unsure again. "What..what do you suggest?" Already, he itches to get out. Skywise looks up at Cutter, as he crosses his arms over his chest. Cutter glances toward Skywise and then back to Flashfire, **Take someone with you, to watch your back.** Cutter locksends ** Perhaps Dewshine should go with you.. she's felt the pull of Recognition with a Glider before. ** Suntop looks up to his father as well, his eyes round and full of that strange wisdom that this young elf seems to possess. "Father..." No, maybe this would be best in a send. Cutter locksends, to Dewshine, Flashfire: ** The two of you go.. with Windkin. He knows the ways of Blue Mountain better than the rest of us, and Dewshine may be able to help you deal with your soulmate, furcub. ** You locksend, to Dewshine, Cutter: Flashfire isn't arguing, so that's something. ** Aye.. ** You sense in a locksend to Flashfire, Cutter: Dewshine feels relief, as well as a healthy does of respectful fear. She knows that Winnowill could twist her into a mental pretzel, if she so chose, but that isn't about to stop the feisty she-wolf. ** Good. ** Flashfire looks towards Dewshine as Cutter sends the order both to everyone and to he and Dewshine alone. "Get..get what you need, quickly. Need to go right away.." At this, he darts off to retrieve his own spear. Dewshine dashes off toward her den, not pausing to look twice, or question her good (ill?) fortune. Silent wanders a few more steps, removing himself from Cutter and Family's way. He walks a little distance before turning back to the group. "So how much experience does this group have with the gliders..." He states this quietly but one too close may hear him. Suntop pulls off the fur he had about his shoulders to keep warm and hands it to Flashfire, "I know you have enough fur, but just in case." It could come in useful somehow... Bramble has been pretty much silent through the whole discussion over whether Flashfire should go alone and who should go with him. She rubs her arms, where did she put that fur. At some point the fur she had around her own shoulders fell to the ground and she walks to pick it up, wrapping it tightly around herself. Skywise brings a hand to Cutter's arm, then looks back at Flashfire and the darting away Dewshine. Scouter is walking out of the den when Dewshine is running to enter it. He stops quickly as she seems in a rush, watching her run off and blinking cluelessly. He hmms and then hops down to the ground, stretching like he has just waken up from a nap. Silent turns his head toward Cutter. He nods "I see." Flashfire returns with his spear in time to accept the fur of Suntop's, to add more to his own coat, already thick as it is. He might not even feel the cold, but it doesn't hurt to have it as an extra layer. "Need Windkin, too.." Then he quickly hops atop StormBrindle's back, grabbing a handful of fur. "I..we'll try to get back as soon as we can...I don't know what'll happen." For all he knows, it could be the last time he'll see everyone here. Cutter locksends ** Try to keep your wits about you, son or Winnowill may use them against you. ** You locksend to Cutter, Flashfire doesn't know if he'll be able to do that..he shudders at the thought of the Lord. ** I'll do my best.. ** Scouter removes his cap to run his fingers through his hair before returning it to his head. He perches on a rock, looking around and observing quietly. Bramble ohs, they're taking Windkin too. Well, she guesses this does take precedence over her somewhat selfish desire to have her mother with her when the cub is born. And she and Windkin had only really just talked that one time about the floating elf fetching Firesong from the Gathered holt. So she doesn't say anything about it, just offers one last farewell, ** Good hunting. ** It seems particularly appropriate, at least to her. Cutter's gaze lands on Flashfire who is busily readying himself for his hurried journey. He recalls the two ravvits in his hands and steps over to his youngest cub's side, **Take these.. it'll save you from one hunt.** he sends before pulling the furcub into a tight embrace. Cutter locksends ** Just be careful. ** Windkin's part of the trip isn't actually set in stone yet, but it was a suggestion at least. Flashfire and Dewshine will be on their way briefly, and whether Windkin actually follows or not remains to be seen. As Cutter pads over to him and offers the ravvits, he hops off StormBrindle again to allow himself to be rather smothered in the hug, not wanting to let go. He trembles faintly. "Thank you.." he whispers. Suntop waits until his father moves aside before embracing Flashfire as well, ** If you need -anything-... ** he sends once more as a reminder. ** And come back as soon as you can...** You locksend ** I will.. <> ** to Cutter. Silent walks past the family farewells to his previous spot near the tree. He takes his spear and stops. He leans on the tree again as if deciding where he wants to go. Silent locksends ** Be safe... ** Skywise is next in line for a hug, his hand reaching to ruffle Flashfire's headfur a little. "Word of advice. When you float up, don't let go." He winks, you should know what he means. "Be safe, Fur-cub. And, if you need a friend in there..." Skywise locksends ** Aroree will be there for you, I am sure of it. ** Flashfire shares more hugs with the ones who come over to give them, appreciative of all the support, suggestions, and well-wishes. He doesn't quite follow Skywise and his talk of floating, but with Gliders there, he can figure it out, surely. "I'll be good," he promises, vowing not to do anything to endanger himself. Hopefully others won't provoke him into something, either. Provided this all goes off without a hitch...what's he going to do about looking after the cub? "Have to go.." he repeats, grabbing the ravvits and climbing back up on StormBrindle's back. Dewshine and her wolf are ready as well, and with a heavy farewell-send, Flashfire leads the way off. Flashfire sends to the whole tribe ** See you all soon..I hope. ** Cutter lifts a hand in a farewell wave toward Flashfire and Dewshine before shaking his head and starting toward the father tree.. time to let Leetah hear the news. Bramble stays back as all the hugs are given, although with her arms still wrapped around herself, I guess you could call it a self hug. She watches Flashfire and Dewshine head off into the night with clouded eyes. (End)
