Log file from Darkmist. 11/4/99 9:57:36 PM South Boundary Path(#577RJ) The sheltered valley gathers you close in rocky arms. The village is nestled in a hidden canyon of red-yellow sandstone and prickly cactus turned garden oasis by the precious well that brings water from the depths of the earth. The seven stars of Goodtree's Rest begin to come out as the dimming red light of sunset fills the warm spring skies. Elves move to and from the dancing square to the north. The village has been restored from the devastation of the human invasion. Some houses are still being constructed, and the colors are bright with recent painting, but otherwise normality has been restored. Shenshen laughs brightly, pausing in her plant-weeding to wave at the newest arrivals. "Sweet water!" Her curly head turns back to Suntop and she gives him a mischievous look. "Of course! Wouldn't you?" Suntop shakes his head, laughing. "No...not at all! I rather like my solitude." But if he goes back to LostHolt he'll have to stay with either Flashfire or Ember again. So much for privacy. Shenshen quirks an eyebrow at Suntop. "Privacy is all and good, nephew, but it doesn't beat a lovemate in your den when it's cold." She teases. "Speaking of...who is Yun denning with anyways?" Suntop gives a shrug and answers smartly, "That is usually why I'm -here- when it is cold, Aunt." As far as Yun's whereabouts, he shrugs again. "I don't really know." "Hmmph." Trying to get gossip out of Suntop is like trying to squeeze water from the sand. Shenshen sighs briefly and shakes her head. "Well, i'm sure Savah will be sad to see us all leave again. It was like old times again--back when everyone was living in the Village...remember?" Suntop runs his fingers over some of the still-bedded plants, smiling as he remembers, "Barely. It was so long ago..." Shenshen giggles. "To you, maybe. Not to me. Of course, when you're as old as me, maybe it'll seem like an even longer time ago!" A deep thinker, that Shenshen. She tilts her head charmingly at Suntop and plucks another weed from the edge of the path. "So what is your father planning? He probably wants to get back to Lostholt as well, doesn't he?" The question ilicits another shrug from Suntop. "I'm not too sure. He does want to go back to the Holt...but I think he's also enjoying the time away. You know, I don't think he ever truly relaxes." Proceeding the threesome of elves, is Trailmist. Happily bouncing along, as if he was a cub or something. Must be the good mood around the three elves. Darkmist is at Newstar's right side, holding her hand securely. Sunrise is on Newstar's left. Darkmist gives a smile to his mates, but its quickly hidden as he notes there's others around. Shenshen nods at Suntop's words, her attention distracted as she notices the trio coming down the path. She sits back on her haunches again, admiring the rather happy glow on Newstar's features and the rather pregnant belly. "She's due any day now, isn't she?" She half-whispers to her nephew. Suntop gives a nod to the whisper, "It certainly looks like it." He's no judge of pregnancies, but if Newstar gets any bigger, she's going to burst! "Shade, all!" he greets with a smile. Sunrise has Newstar's left hand in hers, ready to help the pregnant maiden if she needs it. Unlike Darkmist, her smile remains as she sees others, finally getting the hang of this speach thing here, "Shade to you!" Newstar's smile lends its dreamy brightness to the wolf-led group, looking content with a mate to each side of her as she walks. "Shenshen! Suntop! Shade and sweet water to both of you!" She'd wave a hand, but...that's a little difficult at the moment. Darkmist solves that, releasing Newstar's hand so she can wave. Instead, his hand moves to rest at her back and he nods his greetings and lets his mates take care of all the blabber. He makes a vague motion though, to Trailmist so he dances up alongside of Sunrise. Shenshen giggles and waves a hand of her own at Newstar. "Looks like you're just about due--how are you feeling?" Her experienced eyes note how low the baby rests in the maiden's stomach, then beams a smile at the two lifemates supporting Newstar. "Are you all three going to be at the birth?" Suntop sits back on his haunches, knowing little about childbirth. Instead, he peers at the plants, trying to figure out how to tell weeds from non-weeds. Seems in all his time at Sorrow's End, he never learned gardening. Occasionally he glances to the trio of elves. Sunrise smiles at Shenshen, "Well I would like to be at least... I have seen my share of births so I hope I can be of some help." She keeps her hand in Newstar's and then turns and gives both Newstar and Darkmist a bright smile. Newstar looks fondly at Darkmist and offers the wave she'd intended with a soft chuckle. "I'm feeling simply wonderful, really, thank you." Glancing to Sunrise, her hand lowers and rests gently on Sunrise's arm as she smiles. "I most certainly want both of you there." Shenshen smiles happily at the trio. "I'd offer to be there for the birth, but my sister wants me to go with her to Lostholt--and I think me AND Mender crowding you over the kitling would be a bit too much in one hut, don't you?" Suntop offers helpfully, "Don't forget the rest of the village..." That has Darkmist speak, behold! "Dont want too many around." Short and too the point, quite firm the elf is. Well, until he sneaks a peek at his mates, checking of that was ok to say sorta. Newstar looks amused, sky-blue eyes twinkling softly, "I think we'd need a bigger hut if -both- of you were hovering about." The amused expression is turned on Darkmist good-naturedly, as she reaches for his hand again. Shenshen gives Darkmist a prim look. "You have to have the healer there if the midwife is not, you know." Suntop merely looks amused at the whole conversation. He casts a glance to Newstar and winks at her before looking back to his aunt. The shift in Darmist's eyes should reveal the affection he holds for the maiden carrying his cub, and the maiden next to her as well. He takes Newstar's hand and squeezes it lightly, then directs his gaze to Shenshen. "If either is around, when time comes. If not, we have eachother." Your all just wanting him to speak huh? Sunrise chuckles and nods to Newstar, then looks over at Shenshen, "Well not necessarily.. though it is he best situation it is not the only one. Many healthy pips are birthed with only mother and father about." Shenshen looks aghast at Sunrise's words. "Not here!" She can't recall how many births she's been present at--it's a rather proud moment for her, after all. "Mender would be crushed if you didn't let him oversee things, Newstar." She gives the blonde elf a scolding look, even wagging one dark finger at her. Newstar ducks her head slightly and looks chastised, though her smile turns it playfully mocking. "Oh, goodness, I know....he'd never forgive me." You locksend, to Sunrise, Newstar: ** <> ** Suntop chuckles, "And then you'd have to live with a grumpy Mender! High Ones, that would be just awful. Do let him help with the birth, Newstar...for all of our sakes!" Darkmist's brows starts to draw into a frown, trying to imagine Mender grumpy? Sunrise arches a brow, "Mender grumpy... I am not sure that is a sight I wish to imagine. So perhaps you are right... him there would be best." Shenshen's olive eyes widen. "You mean to tell me neither of you has met Mender when he's in one of his moods?" She looks surprised--he's not called the Hormone for nothing, after all. "Count yourself lucky, then. He's rather horridly cranky when he's upset about something." She wrinkles her nose slightly. Newstar's head lifts, the smile still on her face as her chuckle joins Suntop's. "Mender? Grumpy? Can't have that! Besides, I'm sure I'd hear about it from him for days if I didn't." Her chuckle fades just a bit before a small wince, her hand slipping from Sunrise's and cautiously finding its way to support her rotund middle. "Days?" Suntop gring, "Try turns!" He then nods to Darkmist and Sunrise, "I think that's the wisest decision." Oh, but his eyes are sparkling...he rarely ever teases. The frown starting on Darkmist's face blooms fully and he quickly scoops an arm about Newstar's waist. Now, he ignores the others all of a sudden. "Beloved?" Sunrise turns and looks at Newstar as her hand is released. Her brows crease slightly at the wince, her attention coming to focus on her pregnant mate. She spares a single glance to Darkmist before looking at Newstar again, "Are you alright beloved?" You locksend ** @@@@, is she coming? ** to Newstar. Shenshen's eyes zoom in on Newstar's stomach, blinking a few times. "I'd say your kitling is kicking. That or he or she wants out of Newstar right about now." Her voice is teasing. Newstar blinks a few times and rests her other hand atop her belly, pausing as if waiting for an answer to Sunrise's question. "I...I think so. A bit of a twinge, that's all." The smile finds its way back onto her face, if perhaps a little tentative. Newstar locksends ** I'm not certain, ####... ** Suntop looks around for a place for Newstar to sit, perhaps? You locksend ** <> Best sit down beloved. ** ** to Newstar. Newstar locksends ** I think that's a good idea... <> ** Darkmist hovers protectivly at Newstars side, gently guiding her to a place to sit down. Trailmist gives a whine and lays down behind the maiden, licking at her ear as if in comfort. "Sunrise?" Darkmist turns to her, trying to not look too eager at all this. You locksend, to Sunrise, Newstar: ** I think she's ready to come.. <> ** Newstar accepts the guiding quite willingly, sitting down carefully and looking a little bit more relaxed after that. One hand reaches back to reassure Trailmist, while the other retains its place beneath her belly. Sunrise helps Darkmist seat Newstar, then takes seat behind Newstar to serve as backrest for the maiden. She gently massages Newstar's back, giving Darkmist a reassuring smile. Sunrise locksends, to Newstar, Darkmist: ** Perhaps beloved... If nothing else she is being very active tonight. ** Newstar locksends, to Sunrise, Darkmist: ** Indeed...we shall see. Don't worry too much... ** You locksend, to Sunrise, Newstar: Darkmist sends to the cub, not at all too worried. More like excited now. ** Easy cub.. we're here. <> ** Suntop starts slightly at something and closes his eyes, his body going completely still as his spirit leaves his corporeal form. Silent wanders in slowly Not seeming to be lost, but taking the scenery. He stops short at seeing all the elves. Darkmist actually smiles, taking one of Newstar's hands and places it to his chest. He sends privatly, then places his hands to her stomach. Trailmist seems calmed by the gesture from Newstar and remains behind her, for support until one of the mates decides to kick his furry butt away. Newstar keeps one hand at her middle, leaving the other in Darkmist's possession. She looks comfortable enough, smiling over her shoulder at Sunrise fondly. Being more than a bit preoccupied, be it by thoughts or other means, she doesn't notice any new arrivals to the scene. Sunrise smiles at Newstar, still supporting her from behind, "Are you comortable beloved? Do you need anything?" She too seems more wrapped up in her pregnant mate then in noticing anyone else... at least at the moment. Silent takes a step back, not being one to disturb someone. Shenshen watches the expectant trio with a patient air. "So is it tonight, Newstar?" She finally questions the mother. "Should I get Mender?" Silent stops glancing toward Shenshen. He hadn't noticed her. Darkmist answers for Newstar, "Would be good. Thank you." Since he is so sure the cub is coming. He drops a kiss on Sunrise's forehead, then Newstar's, then sits back to rub at the big stomach. Shenshen smiles at the new arrival to the pathways--she's just now noticed him, her eyes so intent on Newstar. "Shade to you." One brown hand waves. "Are you looking for someone?" She inquires pertly, giving him a teasing look. Silent blinks for a moment taking a look at Shenshen "No, just looking around the village... Interesting place." Shenshen beams cheerfully. "That it is. It even looks like we're having a kitling born tonight." She gestures at Newstar and the fussing lifemates. "If those three are any indication, anyways." Newstar closes her eyes for a brief moment, and opens them to look at Shenshen and nod with a smile. The same smile is given to her mates as she starts to answer the various questions, but it is brief as her body seems to curl up to the accompaniment of a small gasp. Darkmist sort of pales a little, when Newstar does that. Odd how this Recognition bond works, yet he seems in total awe at what is about to happen. "Easy beloved.. " Silent looks over the trio for a moment. He watches them for a moment and smiles a little Sunrise lets Newstar lean back against her when the pain subsides, lending comfort to her. She gives a reassuring smile to Darkmist, reaching out a hand to take one of his, her other hand rubbing at the small of Newstar's back. Shenshen gestures towards Newstar's hut. "Perhaps you might be more comfortable in there, Newstar?" Her voice takes on a fussy, no-nonsense edge. "How long have you been having the pains? Just now? All day?" Newstar's form relaxes and uncurls, and she lets out a breath as she looks up at Shenshen. "How long? It's never been too bad before, just the occasional twinge when she kicked. Much stronger now." Looking between Sunrise and Darkmist, she answers Shenshen's first question. "My hut would be good, yes." Darkmist moves and slips his arms around Newstar's back and under her knees, then lifts her up easily. He curls her to his chest securely, giving a soft smile to his mate. "Just lean on me and Sunrise, beloved. We will get through this together." Sunrise gets to her feet, giving both her mates a smile and a nod, "Of course. And soon we shall have a beautiful pipling to cradle in our arms." She rests a hand on Darkmist's shoulder, as the other prods him towards the hut. Shenshen's mouth curls down in a pout. "Hmmph." Her arms cross over her chest. Looks like the rather overzealous lifemates don't want the midwife there after all. Fine by her. With a toss of her curls, she stands. "Maybe i'll just go see if Tacit and Kaer are ready to go to Briarholt." Silent looks between the trio and Shenshen Blinking sorta puzzled. Newstar leans her head against Darkmist's shoulder, turning it a bit so she can look at Shenshen. Holding a hand out towards the pouting maiden, she smiles beseechingly. "Please, Shenshen, come with us? I would feel better with you there...I'm sure we all would." Darkmist just carries Newstar away, with Sunrise. Bedroom - Newstar's Hut Light shines into the room through a large window that faces the cliffs that surround Sorrow's End. A large bed set into the floor dominates the room, and is piled high with pillows of varying shapes and colors, none of which match the brilliant deep blue of the top blanket. In one corner, a few smaller pillows are piled about, for sitting on. A large potted plant graces another corner, its single large bloom bringing yet more color to the room. There are a few knick- knacks about the room, all carefully arranged into their own spaces. An arched doorway leads out into the main chamber, though a curtain of light blue moth- fabric. Darkmist carefully places Newstar in the bed, brushing her hair back up behind her. He smiles and kisses her nose. "Alright, now lets see to our cub coming out?" He looks to Sunrise, who'd be the one with most experience here. Newstar seems to be greatly more comfortable in the cool depths of her hut, smiling at each mate warmly before another contraction curls her up. "Oooh..." Sunrise nods to Darkmist, casting a smile at Newstar. She directs Darkmist to get behind Newstar for support and then positions the maiden for the best position for the birth. She then looks to see how things fare, "Newstar beloved... On the next contraction I need you to push for me okay?" Darkmist moves swiftly up behind Newstar, locking his mind to hers and he cub. He tentivly sends to Sunrise, will she join in on this intemate sharing? Since she knows him, at least, by soul name and the cub. "And breathe beloved.." Newstar leans back against Darkmist and exhales, nodding to Sunrise as she takes a few breaths. Perhaps it's instinctive, or perhaps it's from a memory of watching her brothers being born, but she lifts her arms and curls them around Darkmist's neck. She follows directions well, though, evidenced by the pushing she does when the contractions come again. You locksend, to Sunrise, Newstar: Darkmist sends warmth, excitement and encouragement. Wanting to share everything with the two.. no, three, that mean the most to him. ** <> ** Sunrise does join in the linking of minds, sharing her love and joy. She also sends calm soothing thoughts to both parents and pip. She smiles up at Newstar, "That's it beloved... just like that. Push on the next one just like that." You sense in a locksend to Sunrise, Darkmist: Newstar shares her excitement and happiness across the bond, with no small bit of elation. Darkmist slips his arms under Newstar's, moving his hand down over the bulge which is his cub within there. He nuzzles Newstar's cheek and gently rubs, when she pushes and helps in any way he can. Newstar smiles despite the work of bringing the new one into the world. As a contraction takes hold, she pushes, and her arms tighten around Darkmist. Soft grunts are the sounds she makes, though they are certainly happy ones. Sunrise sends encouragement and love, a bright smile lighting her face, "She is crowning.. You are doing great Newstar beloved. Keep it up. She will be in your arms before you know it." Sunrise locksends, to Newstar, Darkmist: ** @@@@ ####... Beloveds I could not be more happy then I am now ** Newstar relaxes to take a few breaths, eyes closed during the brief respite. "Soon, little one, soon." A soft sound, and she's leaning into a contraction again, eyes squeezed quite tight. Darkmist shares the 'struggle' of the birth, he too just pleased beyond belief at the coming of the cub. He smiles widely over Newstar's shoulder at Sunrise, and he leans just a little forward to try to peek. Guess he's eager. "Almost here beloved.. almost here." He sends soothingly to the cub. Newstar locksends, to Sunrise, Darkmist: ** $$$$...####...I am so glad to have you both here... <> ** Yes, almost there. With the last contraction the head is freed. Sunrise reaches and cradles the baby's head in her hands, helping to turn the little one as needed. She smiles encouragement to Newstar, "One more push beloved... You can do it." You locksend, to Sunrise, Newstar: Darkmist shares and echoes what you both share, adding his own deep love and devotion. Darkmist rubs gently to Newstar's stomach. "Here we go beloved.. one more" He encourages, as well. Newstar pants a little to catch her breath, then pushes forward with a firm grunt, spurred by her own eagerness to see the cub that's been growing inside these past two turns. Sunrise helps pull the cub free with the last push, then reaches for something to clean the little one off. The pipling lets out a loud wail as she is freed and clean. Sunrise hands the little one to Newstar, to finish taking care of the afterbirth and clean up. Newstar slumps back after that last push and lets out an elated laugh, opening her eyes in time to take the little one in her arms. The look of dreamy awe on her face is just about priceless as she holds the tiny girl-cub close, looking down at it's small face with wonder. "There...there she is..." Darkmist blinks, then blinks again. He looks like he just got struck by stars, his eyes light on joy and mouth open in awe as he looks over Newstar's shoulder. He brings his hands up, one to caress Newstar's face, brushing her hair back, and the other to gently touch to the light fluffy hair on the cubs head. "High ones... " Sunrise smiles at you both, litterally beaming as she finishes cleaning up. She reaches out to lightly stroke a hand over the little one's back, "She is so beautiful.... I can not believe she is actually here.: Newstar slips one of her fingers into one of the little one's hands, watching as the tiny fingers cling to it. "She's lovely, like the daystar's light shining through amber." She echoes elated exhaustion through the bond, along with a slight questioning note. Darkmist looks to Newstar, then at Sunrise. He shrugs a little, giving a sheepish grin. "Her name?" He will just keep to XXX, at least, when he talks to her in private and in sends and all. Sunrise gives a private send to the cub, then looks up at the both of you, smiling brightly, "You would think we would have pondered this before today.." Newstar smiles contently, tearing her eyes away from the little girl-cub in her arms to look between her two mates. "How about Amberdawn?" Her voice is soft, perhaps a little tired, but full of happiness. Darkmist runs his cool hand over Newstar's forehead, brushing bangs back and placing a kiss there. ** Amberdawn sounds good. ** His send is just loaded with happiness and joy, love and contentment. Should be against elf law to be this happy. Sunrise smiles brightly, nodding to Newstar. She looks at the little one, "It is perfect beloved." She tries out the name for herself, "Amberdawn... A name that is beautiful like she is." Newstar looks quite happy with the acceptance of the name, eyes closing slightly at the kiss before they look back down to the newly named cub. "Amberdawn. Little Amberdawn. Welcome...to our family." Looking back up, she smiles at Sunrise and raises her eyebrows inquisitively. "Want to hold her?" Sunrise reaches out to take the little one after giving a nod to Newstar. Her face just lights with joy as she looks down at the little one in her arms. A finger traces over the tiny face before she looks up, "She is just so beautiful..." Darkmist scoots away from behind Newstar and places a pillow behind her. He finds a waterskin and gently offers her to drink, while wiping off her forehead and just being his usual spoiling the mates self. Newstar takes the offer of a drink thankfully, sipping the water and letting out a soft sigh before leaning back against the pillow tiredly. She gives him a fondly grateful smile and watches Sunrise holding Amberdawn happily. "She's wonderful..." Sunrise gently rocks the pip in her arms, humming softly to her. She does not seem able to rid herself of the smile that lights her face, nor does she seem to want to. Darkmist surrounds you both in a sudden strong send, bursts of love and devotion. Which he also includes the cub in of course. He leans to nuzzle Newstar, brushing his fingers over her cheek. "Thank you.. " Newstar raises a hand and curls it gently around Darkmist's neck, "Thanks to both of you, my lifemates." Her other hand comes up to cover her mouth a little as she yawns widely and smiles. "Our cub will know no shortage of love." Darkmist fusses about Newstar a little, making her all comfortable and settled. He then offers Sunrise a spot next to Newstar, while holding out his arms for the cub. He smiles proudly, even with his facefur looking like a proud cub with his first catch. "You two rest.. " He will rest with the cub in his arms for now. Sunrise hands Darkmist the pip as she settles in next to Newstar, wrapping her arms around the maiden and nuzzling her. She then casts a glance over at the proud father and pip, grinning at Newstar, "I think our little one has her father wrapped around her tiny fingers already." Newstar chuckles softly and leans into Sunrise after another sip of water. "I don't think either of them would have it any other way." One hand holds onto the waterskin, the other curls around one of Sunrise's arms as she watches father and daughter. Darkmist gently arranges the cub in the crook of his arm, a finger tracing over her features in awe and fascination. Hey, she can have him wrapped around her fingers as much as she wants! Darkmist just smiles from ear to ear, prouder then a cockrell in a hen-house alone. "Hullo, little one. Its your Sire.. I will taech you aaaalll you need to know about life of a wolfrider." Really he will! Sunrise chuckles softly and nods to Newstar, "I think you are right beloved. I think they both prefer it that way." She looks over at Darkmist and smiles, "So Darkmist beloved... How will you handle being surrounded by women?" Newstar's eyebrows lift in amused curiousity at the question, "That's a very good question, lifemate." Another yawn gets corralled back behind the waterskin as she sips from it and relaxes. "I'll cherish every moment, what else?" Darkmist grins over at the both of you, silently blessing the wolfthought of now and the small memory problem there. "Who is as lucky as me?" Indeed, the elf seem content enough to burst doesnt he.
