A /lot/ The Scene - Mostly in the Dancing Square at Sorrow's End, then on to the Underworld. This is broken up into a series of shorter logs, as the whole thing is some 210K, containing stuff before, during, and after the invasion. Things start off in the Dancing Square itself. Sunfire waves to Flashfire. "Hello!" Treestump stands just on the outskirts of the Dancing Square, looking in to watch the festivities from his spot. ColdFire looks around and sends ** Hello. I was wondering.. are there any tailors around here? sigh.. my daugheters gone for now with her mother and I was hoping to have something nice for her when they return.. ** Lhovrik arrives from the crossroads, looking around to see who is here. Sunfire turns to Coldfire. "Don't like tanning much, but I could probably make something..." Lhovrik remains at the periphery of the square, red gaze moving contemplatively over the elves present. ColdFire scratches his face. ** Um.. not quite tanning, clothmaking I guess? ** Finishing the meat Clouddancer licks the blood off her fingers Flashfire wanders in, already a bit mad at himself for not having gotten something lighter to wear after all this time here. He hears Sunfire greeting him, and waves with a bit of a smile, wandering her way. Treestump stands just on the outskirts of the Dancing Square, looking in to watch the festivities from his spot. Sunfire blinks. "Cloth? What's that?" Tempest arrives from the crossroads, looking around to see who is here. ColdFire ums and sends ** Well.. thin stuff.. um.. ** Sunfire blinks. She has NO idea what he's talking about. :) ColdFire sends openly ** A lot of natives wear it.. I think.. um.. maybe I've jsut lost my mind.. um.. ** Tempest walks in, sees that look and shakes her head. **What have you done now, Coldfire?** Flashfire stops next to Sunfire, beginning to undo his tunic already. Sunfire chuckles. She turns to Flashfire. "How about a rematch on that balancing game of yours?" Jadesong chuckles softly as she watches the various conversations, her fingers continuing to draw a pleasant tune from her harp. Background music. Lhovrik listens in silence to the conversations, crouching down in a fashion that seems comfortable enough to him. ColdFire blinks and looks at Tempest ** Other then looking foolish, not much, yup. ** Clouddancer closes her eyes at what she fears will be a backlash, ** The not-leather the Sunfolk make is what he seeks ** Treestump locksends ** (You sense the elder's eyes upon you, recognising a familiar face, and flicks out a silent greeting) Shade and sweet water, lad. ** Silverdew emerges from the shelter of the canopy. Treestump's eyes flicker to Flashfire, resting on him for a moment. ColdFire nods to clouddancer ** Ya, that's it. Thanks. ** Sunfire asks curiously. "You mean like leaves or fur? How can it be not-leather?" Blackfox arrives from the crossroads, looking around to see who is here. A youngish silver-haired elf ducks out from the Canopy, stretching her arms high above her head. Tempest ahs and walks over to stand next to Coldfire, **Is that all? Well, that's not so bad then. Or that unusual.** You locksend to Treestump, Flashfire returns your greeting with one of the same. ** Shade an' sweet water! ** Flashfire finds Treestump with his eyes, and nods back. Clouddancer shakes her head at the obliviousness of the one who does not see that the sunfolk wear 'leathers' much different that any other Flashfire maintains a bit of silence at talk of things that are not-leather, not knowing much about them. Treestump cracks a grin as Flashfire glances towards him, inclining his head in a nod to the youngster, then glancing up as more and more elves arrive, lifting a hand to scratch at his beard in idle thought. Sunfire frowns at the concept of not-leather. ColdFire rubs his nose ** Hrm.. my nose seems better then it was before with that crash. I feel half decent for once. ** Tempest ohs? **You fell again? Have you seen Zotahska? She was acting more odd than ususal last night** Silverdew's blue eyes fall upon Treestump, and brighten. ** Chief! Er..Treestump! ** Jadesong turns to ColdFire even as her fingers continue to pluck joyful notes from her harp. ** Mender will be here soon. He'll bring ointment with him for those who need it, I'm sure. ** She smiles. Sunfire looks a little confused by all the faces. She turns to leave hastily. Blackfox heads for the welcome shade of the canopies. Flashfire smiles faintly towards ColdFire and Tempest. ** He, ah, had a bit of a fall from the balancing poles over there. ** A kind of benign contentment wafts from Lhovrik's still form, a benevolent satisfaction plain in the way he regards the large company of elves. Treestump's eyes flicker quickly in the direction of hearing himself referred to by a title he has not heard in a while. His pale blue eyes land on Silverdew, meeting them briefly, thoughtfully as his brows draw together as he thinks to recognise the name, then.. ** Ach? Silverdew, lass.. is that you? ** Savah accepts a goblet from one of the sunfolk, smiling. Blackfox sits lazyly in the shade Sunfire blinks at Coldfire. Clouddancer returns to her silence in the corner staying out of the way of the mass of elves Silverdew nods quickly, striding forward. ** Yeah, nearly forty turns now, can y'believe it? ** Flashfire wriggles out of his tunic, rolling it up and tucking it in his belt. Shatter arrives from the south boundary path. Jadesong closes her eyes as she continues to play her harp. The gentle music wafts out over the gathering. "Nearly forty.." Treestump breathes, looking somewhat amazed, but a grin shows beneath that sun-blonde flash of curly beard, reaching out to tousle the maiden's silvery mane as she approaches. "Timmorn's blood! Has it been that long already?" Sunfire feels rather young. Flashfire moves back over towards Sunfire - she's pretty young still, like he is, and he knows her better already than most others here. Shatter walks over to his rider. Sunfire leans against him a little, seeking the realtive safety of her wolf. Silverdew chuckles and nods, winking merrily. ** I won't ask how old you are, but y'look the same as I remember. ** Her face lightens once more. ** Oh! And y'know what else? I've become Grove's second. ** Sunfire stands near Flashfire, standing near another as young and inexperienced as she. Treestump's eyes widen in surprise. "Grove Second?" the old wolf repeats, looking somewhat amazed and bemused at the same time. "Second.. to who? What happened to the Council?" ColdFire hums and looks around while leaning on his spear that he is misusing as a cane. He puts a little too much weight on it and it snaps, making him fall over, not an unusual sight. Tempest hmms, watching Coldfire fall with a resigned sigh, **Need some help?** Sunfire leans over Coldfire, a faint smile on her lips, "You all right?" Silverdew shrugs. "The tribe's down to four hands in size, since the foam sickness. Wintersong just took charge and nobody objected. Made me her second." Blackfox nods Flashfire looks at Shatter, and lifts a hand to rub around his ears. ColdFire smiles ruefully. ** I'm awake so I think that means I'm not quite alright. Seems to work that way. ** Tempest gives Lhovrik a puzzled look and huhs. Silverdew glances around. So many elves! Surprise and concern wash over Treestump's face quickly, his eyes widening and paling in turn. "Oh, lass.. I.. I hadn't heard.." He pauses, and his voice softens. "What about Tenderarm? And Shade? Are they..?" Sunfire locksends ** Are you okay? ** ColdFire picks up the two halfs of his spear as he sits on the ground. "That is annoying.. bah.. don't need it anyhow I suppose.. silly habit." You locksend ** Uh, of course. Shouldn't I be? ** to Sunfire. Tempest grins, **Why don't you just sit on the ground, eh? And thank the stars that Horizon has apparently got her mother's dexterity?** Silverdew meeps, she didn't mean to alarm him. "Shade's fine, she's back home. Tenderarm, well, she disappeared shortly after the sickness was over." Sunfire locksends ** Good. thought you were a little quiet. ** Overhead, Tsoran rises up from below. Sunfire leaves Shatter's side and makes for the food. Overhead, Tsoran flies down. Sunfire cuts a large slice of meat off the freshly killed boar. Jadesong continues to play her harp, skillful fingers plucking gentle music from the strings... You locksend ** Oh. Sometimes I get like that. I'm ok, just dunno what to talk about. ** to Sunfire. Edge sits and enjoys the festival. But watches Tsoran outo f the corner of his eye Sunfire locksends ** <>No problem. Would you like to play? ** Treestump looks startled. "Disappeared?" he repeats, his fingers pausing in the midst of his beard, looking very much alarmed. "I.. oh my.." He shakes his head for a moment, drawing his hand back, then lifting it to scratch the back of his neck. "Shade is all right, then?" he finally mumbles. "That's.. good. Aye, good.." Flashfire glanes towards Sunfire, sending privately. Sunfire looks curiously at Jadesong's harp. You locksend ** Sure, I can play. What do you wanna play? ** to Sunfire. Silverdew nods reassuringly, deciding it time to change the subject. "Isn't this nice? I've never been to Festival before." Sunfire's eyes dart from Flashfire to the balancing game. Edge looks to the source of the beatiful music. **hmmm. a harp. my father told me of those... but I've never heard one. It sounds like the water, falling on the stones of Raven Falls...** Sunfire locksends ** How 'bout it? ** ColdFire sighs and ponders for a moment. He then shrugs and snaps the end that doesn't have the point again, boredly making kindling or something though the least he needs at the moment is more heat. Treestump nods, still scratching the back of his neck as he turns to regard the rest of the Festival, pausing then nodding again in agreement. "Oh, aye.. first time's are always the best ones, lass.. though each time I see the Sun Folk put on a celebration like this, I'm amazed each time." Flashfire nods to Sunfire, a bit of a smile on his face. Sunfire stuffs another slab of meat in her mouth. You locksend ** Aye. ** to Sunfire. Sunfire grins broadly at something. Silverdew weaves her way through the elves and helps herself to a cup of water, bringing it to her lips with both hands and wandering back to Treestump, grinning. Jadesong looks up as she hears someone speaking about the harp. She smiles at Edge and nods. ** I very much like the sound of it myself. I play the flute also... but it is the harp I love to play more than any other instrument. ** Sunfire locksends ** C'mon! ** Blackfox sips some wine Sunfire gestures towards the balancing game, and two Sun Folk youths come forward. One quickly blindfolds Sunfire, and then both youths wait expectantly to begin the game. Savah speaks softly to a nearby villager. Mesia emerges from the shelter of the canopy. Clouddancer rises uneasily and skirts the square going the long way around from the sharp tongued young female and sending an encouraging glance at Coldfire she slips into the garden Clouddancer leaves the dancing square, heading for the peaceful cool green of the Garden of Shade and Sweet Water. Treestump nods his head to Silverdew, chuckling a bit as he glances to the water in her hand. "Heat getting to you?" Edge sends openly ** I wonder Jade, how long did it take to learn to play the harp? Several turns I'd imagine... ** Flashfire heads over to the poles. You gesture at the game, and two Sun Folk youths approach. One swiftly ties a scarf around your eyes, blindfolding you. Mesia smiles. "Hello!" Sunfire hops nimbly onto the poles set into the grooves of the barrel, ready to play the balancing game. The Sun Folk youths grin, firmly grasping the ends of the poles, ready to start the balancing game as soon as two opponents are prepared. ColdFire sends openly ** Hello there. ** Jadesong nods towards Edge. ** Many many turns, in fact. It took many turns to build the thing. ** She chuckles softly aloud. Treestump's eyes flicker to the balancing game, eyebrows arching with a soft chuckle. This game seems to be quite popular. Shatter sniffs the meat, looking around hopefully. Silverdew looks around at all the faces, looking upward as she's spoken to. She shakes her head. "Not now that the villagers have given me something to wear other than my leathers. Just thirtsy." Blackfox watches the game and grins Blackwatch emerges from the shelter of the canopy. Tsoran arrives from the crossroads, looking around to see who is here. Tsoran heads for the nearest shade. Tsoran heads for the shelter of the canopy. Silverdew follows Treestump's gaze to the balancing game. Ooh! That looks like fun! Tempest smiles at Lhovrik. Edge looks to the game. **I suppose this is why there is seldom petty brawls in the Sun Village. Tehy can let out their agresstion in a game of poles...** Flashfire grins, holding Sunfire's hand. ** I'm gonna beat you, ** Blackwatch smiles as she emerges from the canopy. Her eyes are wide with the wonder of all the activity. Balancing Game You grip the poles with your toes, straddling the gap, balancing precariously. The poles shift disturbingly beneath your feet, and you crouch, making sure of your balance. Contents: Sunfire You hop nimbly onto the poles fitted into the grooves of the barrel, carefully placing one foot on each pole. >From near the game, The Sun Folk youths grin, firmly grasping the ends of the poles, ready to start the balancing game as soon as two opponents are prepared. Sunfire reaches for Flashfire's hand. **I'm gonna beat you. >From near the game, Jadesong smiles again at Edge and nods. ** We've other pursuits. ** she says, her sending softly warm. >From near the game, Treestump inclines his head to Silverdew once more. "Truth, lass, truth.." He chuckles softly and fingers the edge of his vest a bit. "I'm really beginning to consider some of the Villagers' offers of their cloth. Been walking about without my vest on when I'm too hot, but after a while, its going to start burning.." He pauses, glancing back to the game as Silverdew looks there as well and grins. "Heh. Fun to watch, fun to play or so I'm told, eh?" Flashfire shakes his blindfolded head. ** No way, ** He grins, tugging a bit on Sunfire's held hand. >From near the game, Tempest goes north. Sunfire shifts her weight, pulling Flashfire's hand forward, hoping to jerk him off balance. >From near the game, Silverdew drains the last of the water and tosses the cup from hand to hand, grinning up at Treestump. "Maybe we should try when they're off, mm?" >From near the game, Lhovrik watches the duel of balance in a contemplative fashion, crimson gaze slightly bemused by the spectacle. >From near the game, Blackwatch chuckles at the two on the pole, enjoying the event. Flashfire isn't that much of a novice at this, after playing a couple of times before. He leans, but regains his balance, and pushes down with one foot while trying to yank down. ** Ha! ** >From near the game, Jadesong's music begins to take on the aspect of a game, melody lines dueling with one another even as the game atop the poles continue. She smiles in Edge's direction. ** The rock garden is beautiful indeed. I'm sure you could create one of your own. ** >From near the game, Edge looks to the game **My bet's with Flashfire. He nearly threw me off last time!** >From near the game, Treestump tilts his head slightly to Silverdew and a sly grin appears on the old wolf's face. "Oh, lass, do you really want to though? I don't know how long you could really last up there against me." He winks at her and instantly shies away a half-step, teasing. Sunfire stumbles a little, then leans forward with Flashfire's pull. **No you don't!** She pushes forward. [OOC] Flashfire says, "Oh no, now they're betting." [OOC] Sunfire groans. From near the game, Silverdew smooths a brow with her pinky, grinning mischieviously. "Is that a challenge?" >From near the game, Blackfox grins >From near the game, Jadesong giggles softly and shakes her head. ** I'll go with Sunfire, myself. Maids are more nimble, you know. ** Oh, THAT will provoke some discussion... >From near the game, ColdFire smiles. ** Cool.. maybe someone can help me get my daughter something then.. yup. ** >From near the game, Savah smiles quietly. >From near the game, Treestump grins, looking back to Silverdew and ducking his head slightly to look at the lass through the [corners] of his eyes. "Aye." Flashfire tries to ignore the others that're talking in the square, and he wobbles, leaning baaaaack and almost falling over, one foot lifting from the pole. But he /has/ walked slippery branches before, and with a jerk, he rights himself again. ** That was too close for me! ** He tries to pull forward, to bring Sunfire further along. Sunfire continues to push forward, actually stepping onto the rolling drum. Her free arm pinwheels as she regains her balance. Still holding Flashfire's arm, she leaps back, landing hard at her end of the poles and shoots Flashfire's end in the air. **Ha!** >From near the game, Mesia heads for the shelter of the canopy. >From near the game, Dreamchaser arrives from the crossroads, looking around to see who is here. >From near the game, Silverdew folds her arms across her chest and nods, winking up to the ex-chief. "Alright then." >From near the game, Treestump makes a soft rumbling noise of laughter, lowering both hands to place them over his belt, nodding his head once more to Silverdew as his pale blue eyes twinkle amusedly before looking to the two already upon the game. No way can the boycub stay on after /that/, uh uh. ** Whhoooooaaa!! Heeeeey! ** He's thrust up from the poles, going a few feet in the air as his hand separates from Sunfire's. He lands...on the ground, a loser. ** Awww, puckernuts! ** You step down off of the poles, onto the ground. The Sun Folk youths applaud, grinning approvingly. Sunfire steps off of the poles onto the ground, ending the balancing game. The Sun Folk youths applaud, grinning approvingly. Sunfire whoos and grins happily at Flashfire. "Good game. Jadesong giggles. ** You see? ** she sends to Edge. There's the barest hint of a mischeiveious glitter to her emerald eyes. Silverdew manages to spot Dreamchaser through the crowd and calls to her, flailing. "Dreamchaser!" Dreamchaser looks up and spots Silverdew, her face lighting in a grin. Edge shrugs "You were right Jadesong. I owe you a dreamberry. :)" Flashfire pouts for a moment, a bit upset that he fell for that. But he forgets about it, and smiles. ** You're pretty good. I want a rematch soon. ** Jadesong winks. "I'll be collecting very shortly. Just want to play a little while longer. Even if no one's listening." She smiles. Dreamchaser rises from the low bench. Dreamchaser gently tries to push her way through the tribe and join 'Dew. Blackfox steps out from under the canopies. Blackfox leaves the dancing square, heading for the peaceful cool green of the Garden of Shade and Sweet Water. Silverdew points up to the grizzly elf beside her. ** Look, it's Treestump! **
