Log Date: 3/23/96 Log Intro: As autumn creeps slowly into Lostholt, and gossip about the visiting Rayek provides more than one night's worth of entertainment -- at least as long as Rayek is not in earshot -- Ynderra ponders the weighty issues of what to do about her suitors Kai and WindStorm, and how to cope with the cub she now senses within her. Uncertain whether it's a good idea, Ynderra nevertheless seeks out the person in the Holt she thinks is most likely to give her answers.... ---------- You locksend ** Leetah? ** to Leetah. Leetah locksends ** Yes, Ynderra ** Leetah locksends ** What is on your mind, kitling? ** You locksend ** Um, can we talk maybe? ** to Leetah. Leetah locksends ** Of course. Come to our den? ** Cutter and Leetah's Den(#2716RJL) In the seasons since Leetah returned from the Sun Village, she has once again made her presence here known. The silks and brightly colored pillows have reappeared, and a gentle perfume once again fills the room. Sleeping furs and woven blankets are piled neatly in a corner, where they may be sat upon. The window has once again been filled with colorful and shiny mementos from the desert, lovingly tended.. All in all, there is a joyful air about the room. Contents: Leetah Obvious exits: Out Ynderra creeps in, hopefully. "Don't want to disturb..." Leetah smiles, from where she is seated on the furs near the window. Leetah says quietly, "You are no disturbance. How are you?" Her question is not idle, but filled with genuine interest and concern. Ynderra has, as she ventures into the den, one small hand lingering around her belly. "I just... I dunno, I needed to talk to somebody..." She trails off, her voice going up a bit as if asking a question, though she doesn't look _too_ uncertain. But at your own question, she giggles a little. "I'm really healthy. I think. Have been ever since the cub was made..." Leetah gestures with one delicate brown hand, "Please make yourself comfortable." Her lips curve with pleasant memory at Ynderra's last words. Leetah nods, understanding. She rests her chin on her hand, watching you. "What do you wish to talk about?" She smiles, memory of her own pregnancy making her almost glow. Leetah says quietly, "It is a truly wonderful gift you have been given." Ynderra kneels down on the furs nearby, then settles herself gently to sit down off her legs. "I'm... I'm scared," she blurts. Leetah nods, as though she expected that. She smiles softly and holds out a hand to you. "It is wonderful and scary at the same time, isn't it?" She chuckles, "I was so worried when I was bearing Suntop and Ember. I could imagine all kinds of awful things happening. But I -felt- it to be right. Do you not feel the same?" Ynderra clasps the hand readily enough and raises a round blue gaze to you. "Mother hasn't said much to me about it... I, um, guess it makes her remember Father..." The maiden smiles weakly. "And it really scared me a lot, being Recognized..." Leetah nods, smiling warmly, "That, too, is a blessing and a curse in one." She chuckles, "It is so sudden, and so unbidden." Leetah shakes her head, "When we Recognized, I could not stand the sight of Cutter. Now I could not live without him." She smiles at you, ready to listen to your story. Ynderra, as you share all that with her, stares at you in some measure of wonder. She hadn't quite expected to be openly received -- does it have to do with Rayek being here, she wonders? -- but she takes the chance and runs with it, babbling anxiously, "I was hiding for days, but then I fell in the pool, and Kai and Strongbow came and got me and everything... and I HATED how I felt and thought Kai just HAD to help me fix it, and I could feel his magic trying to wake up mine..." Leetah smiles understandingly. Her eyes dance, "What was it like with -two- healers?" Ynderra blurts, "Myriel said she could feel it from here...!" Awed by the notion, the maiden suddenly gives a tiny giggle. Leetah genuinely wishes to help, and share with you, bringing you to equal footing with her. Leetah laughs, delightedly. "Ahhh. I had wondered." Her green eyes twinkle. Ynderra touches her belly with both hands, and peers down at it. She whispers, voice very small, "Did you... know... anything? I mean, just after? I mean... boy or girl or both, or something like that?" Leetah tilts her head. "You know when you go to heal, how there is a warmth before your magic lets you know quite where the hurt is, precisely what it is and how to fix it, that anticipation? That is what I remember from the time of conception. Like a joy building. You can't quite name it or touch it just yet. But it clarifies itself with time." Ynderra confides wide-eyedly, "He's going to be a boy. I knew that...! I think... because of me and Kai both being healers, you know?" Leetah smiles and nods. She laughs suddenly, "Having both when you are looking for one or the other... that was a bit confusing at first." Ynderra says decisively, "Just one..." She pulls in a breath. "He... tickles. I think. Um. I-I'm still scared! I..." Leetah squeezes your hand. "There's nothing to be scared of," she smiles. "It's wonderful, I promise!" Ynderra blurts, "I don't know how to raise a cub..." Leetah chuckles softly, "I felt the same way as you, for all I had over a hand of centuries on you. Do not fear. The whole tribe takes a hand in the raising of a cub." You say "I... I keep hoping so...! Oh, Leetah..." Ynderra shivers, wide-eyedly. Leetah smiles, delight and calm radiating from her. Leetah says "Kitling, it will be wonderful. Trust me." Ynderra murmurs tinily, "I just... remember Myriel... it was hard for her, you know..." Leetah nods. "So I heard." Leetah says "Between you and me and Kai... I think this cubling will be easy, indeed." Ynderra breathes hopefully, "You'll help...?" Leetah smiles warmly, "Of course. I wouldn't miss it for both moons!" Ynderra starts to smile, slowly at first, and then radiantly. Leetah beams at you, as delighted as you, or nearly at any rate. She squeezes you hand again. Ynderra suddenly takes your hand and presses it lightly to her stomach. "Do you feel him? You must... you're better than I am..." Leetah's hand glows softly, radiating warmth from the palm through the capable fingers. Her expression seems to glow as well, and she smiles. ** Healthy, and loved. ** A tiny life, there, barely detectable... but nevertheless there. Ynderra grins tremulously. "I... I have to talk to Kai still... and WindStorm... I..." Leetah listens as she senses. Ynderra asks shyly, "Do you think... Cutter'll let them both stay?" Leetah smiles and nods. Her eyes dance again, "He let me stay, didn't he?" She winks. You say "That's different, I mean... you're his mate!" Leetah grins, "And they are yours, am I right?" Leetah says "Cutter is not in the habit of separating mates." A shadow crosses Leetah's face, only briefly, as thought thinkin of another. Ynderra admits, blushing a little, "I'm, um, not sure." Leetah laughs, "Well, I am sure he will allow them to stay until you've made up your mind." She seems to find this very amusing. She smiles companionably to you, like an older sister, winking. You say "I'll need all the help I can get...!" Leetah nods, smiling conspiratorily, "We'll see what we can do." Ynderra asks plaintively, "Do you have any ideas?" You say "I mean... I thought maybe, last Howl, I'd join with both of 'em, but then I Recognized Kai and everything got kind of... um... mucked up." Leetah smiles, "There is no reason you couldn't have a three-bond if you so wished." Ynderra nibbles her lip. "Unless they don't like each other..." Leetah gazes at you with amusement, "Have you asked them?" Ynderra shakes her head, slowly. Leetah pats your hand, "Perhaps you should ask them before you worry yourself about it too much." Ynderra nods slowly, then abruptly turns, and hugs you. "I should... thank you, Leetah...!" Leetah hugs you warmly, still smiling. "You're very welcome, Ynderra. Whenever I can help, please let me know." Leetah pulls back to look at you, "And if ever you wish to talk about healing, I am always willing to work with you there, too." Ynderra smiles, shyly. "I'd... like that." Her smile brightens, and abruptly, she pipes, "Thank you! I should find them!" and skitters out. [End log.]
