Log Date: 12/22/96 Log Cast: Relton, Kevlan, Yelira, Luthe, Daline, Tayden, Bernadette, Dreatha, Aeric, Krellin, Azaria, Duncan, Shana Log Intro: Sledtech Relton MacFinn is a worried man. His classmate, the co-Head of Training Shana t'Matari, has been out in the Ranges for over a week -- _during_ a mach storm -- and has yet to report in. Knowing that this is not like her at all, Relton does what he can to locate her: scanning on the radar screens and Guild satellite systems for some sign of her sled, listening for her emergency beacon, and the like, but finds no trace of her at all. Finally, deeply concerned, he calls up the Acting Deputy Guildmaster on the comm.... [NOTE: Part of this log was contributed by Relton.] ---------- Your wrist comm beeps with a message from Relton: "This is Relton from the hangar floor, CS Shana t'Matari is not yet in, no trace on the radar." You communicate to Relton: "She nevah got in aftah th' storm?" His voice sounds baffled. Your wrist comm beeps with a message from Relton: "No, sir." You communicate to Relton: Ah'm on mah way. Hang on.. [Kevlan hastens up to the Hangar.] You head purposefully through the doors to the floor. Hangar Floor The immense cavern that serves the guild faces the eastern sky. The blue sky merges with the harsh browns of the long plain of the Joslin Plataeu far to the east. The smoothly tiled floor is scarred by myriad gashes and scratches caused by wind-tossed sleds. The northern and southern walls contain over-large double doors while the western wall is set with observation windows. Looking around (+view), you notice several signs posted. The hangar is half hidden in shadows as Scoria graces the sky high above. The horizon merges with the sky in hazy bands of blue. The sled racks are illuminated slightly. Relton is standing by the radar scope, staring at it as if a force of will would make another sled appear. He raises a hand, "Here, sir." Kevlan's mouth quirks at the 'sir' -- evidently, the acting DGM isn't quite used to hearing that word directed at him yet. But he strides over, long acquaintance with his friend Jerrik Rawn Deegan automatically keeping him in a good line of sight for this tech's ability to read his lips. "Now.... Miz Shana still ain't been in?" Relton shakes his head, "According to the logs, she went out long before the storm. Her sled isn't in the rack, and no trace on my scope." Kevlan considers, his blue eyes darkening with concern. "Ah don't know Miz Shana too well," he admits, "but that don't sound like 'er...." Relton shakes his head, "No, sir. She's always been cautious." Kevlan blushes just a tad again at the 'sir', then scans the screen. "If 'er beacon ain't on, cain't pick 'er up on the sat'lite trackin' systems.... Ah 'sume yah tried raisin' 'er..." Thinking aloud, the young black-adapt fidgets, one foot rocking from toe to heel and back again. And he peers at the older man, half-shyly, but with a searching look suggesting he's trying to grasp exactly how urgent the tech finds this. The worry for a classmate is evident in the tech's eyes. His gaze passes between the Deputy Guild Master and the radar scope. Relton turns to look at Kevlan, "Ah, no sir. No radio contact." Yelira emerges from the ready room with purpose. Yelira has arrived. Kevlan nods gravely to Relton, saying, "This sounds bad... d'ya know anythin' 'tall 'bout where she might be?" Yelira physically pushes a tech out of her path as she stalks into the hangar, "Outta my way, dammit," she growls, marching towards her sled. Kevlan, at the sound of Yelira's voice, glances over his shoulder. His stance and expression subtly change at the sight of that Singer; his face doesn't exactly turn.... hostile, but something closes off in his face, making him look far warier than is normal for Galahad. Relton fiddles with the radar scope for a few moments and turns to look at Kevlan, "The scope log shows her on a southwest departure. She could have veered off, but not until after she went out of range." The tech utters some harsh words towards the Singer as he stumbles to catch his balance. Yelira either doesn't hear him or chooses to ignore it. She spares barely a glance for the deputy guildmaster or the other sledtech, her face totally devoid of recognition, and steps onto her sled. A few moments later, she pops back out, cursing loudly, "Why the blazes isn't my sled cleaned?!" she demands, angry, ice-blue eyes searching for a poor unfortunate to take out her frustrations on. Kevlan stares longly at Yelira before distractedly returning his attention to the tech. Focus on the matter at hand! He nods, hastily. "Gives somethin' t' go on, anyhow. You got a tech team t' go lookin' f'r 'er?" As Yelira bellows, though, his gaze flicks back to her. Yelira looks wildly around and her gaze settles on Kevlan. "You there, pup!" she barks. "Clean my sled!" She folds her arms over her chest and taps her foot impatiently, staring icily at, unbeknownst to her crystal-crazed self, the deputy guildmaster. Relton frowns as he looks at Kevlan, "Looks like I'm the only one on now. Could try rousting out the rest of the techs." He thinks for a moment, "We could broadcast to all active sleds and hope some folks would go looking." Daline emerges from the ready room with purpose. Daline has arrived. Luthe walks in from the ready room. Yelira's gaze flicks towards Relton now and she snorts. Kevlan lifts a hand a moment to Relton, then frowns at Yelira, mildly. "Ah ain't a recruit, ma'am," he points out. Although the words are polite, as is usual for this young Singer, his tone is uncharacteristically reserved. Daline trots onto the hangar flooor, humming cheerfully as she heads towards the sims. Her gaze flicks towards the Singers and she hmms. A dirty sled to clean....grand. Luthe walks in, glancing between the singer and the other tech. "What's going on?" Kevlan, then, turns to Luthe and says earnestly, "Relton says Miz Shana ain't come in yet." "I don't really give a bograt's behind, pup," Yelira rants. "I want my damned sled cleaned this instant!" Luthe frowns. "That isn't good at all..." He glances at the radar screen, seeing that she isn't on it, and frowns. Relton nods, "Went out a'bout a week ago." Kevlan, for anybody paying close enough attention, can be seen to stiffen, just a bit. There is a very brief pause, in which he might possibly be counting to 10 or even 5, before he looks coolly back to the irate older Singer. Yelira snaps her attention to the obviously younger person who's, unfortunately, joined those already on the hangar floor and stalks over to Daline, grasping her firmly by the upper arm and shoving her roughly towards her sled. "Clean it!" she snaps. Luthe considers that, frowning deeply. "Hmmm. If her beacon isn't on, we're going to have to mount a search." Tayden emerges from the ready room with purpose. Tayden has arrived. Kevlan's blue gaze falls on Daline, but unfortunately just a beat after Yelira intercepts her. He scowls -- another unusual expression for him -- before raising his voice, just a bit. "Singah, she cain't clean nothin' if you yank 'er arm off." Tayden hobbles in crutch over one shoulder. he stays near the wall. Kevlan then glances sidelong to the two sledtechs, and nods, distractedly. "Y'all know yer people," he says, much more quietly. "You need me t' call anybody up f'r yah?" "You," and she punctuates this by poking a finger in Kevlan's direction, "Keep outta this," Yelira snarls iritably and gives Daline another sove with a hand flat against the girl's back. "Get going, girl!" she snaps again. Daline, caught in a moment of indecision, is neatly snagged by the older Singer and hurries towards the sled, rubbing her arm. She flashes the Deputy Guild Master a quick thankful look at his words, but quickly grabs the cleaning supplies and heads for the rather ripe sled. Luthe glances at Relton... "I'm good with a sled... I'll fly if it's needed." Relton glances out the hangar door and frowns, turning towards Luthe. "With all that there snow on the ground, sled could be buried. Gonna take everyone we got to find it." Daline is nearly knocked down by the shove as she's caught off balance, and her quick temper flares a bit. "I'm going, ma'am!" she snaps, unnerved by the *zap* of resonance that set all her skin atingle. Luthe nods, and slips behind the sledtech desk, punching buttons rapidly. "I'll send an alert to everyone's comm units." Luthe jaunts over to the sled tech desk. Tayden frowns, looking at the sleds on the Hangar floor. He glances over at the sledtech desk, the back at the sleds. Kevlan studies Yelira and her treatment of the recruit, his eyes gone dark enough to be nearly grey. Then, at last, he turns back to the pair of sledtechs and nods gravely as Luthe hurries off to handle it. "Ah'll ask Mr. Maxwell f'r a search bonus f'r who all yah send out," he promises Relton. Yelira storms directly behind Daline towards her sled, in effect forcing the girl onto it. "I better not find one SPECK of dirt in there, either!" she warns, looking ready to give the recruit another shove if her speed onto the sled doesn't satisfy the irrational Singer. Luthe finishes at the panel, and looks up. "Ok... Everyone who's on planet is notified that they need to be here." Tayden hobbles over to the desk, having decided. "What's going on?" Relton nods, "We'll get everone willing out there." Bernadette emerges from the ready room with purpose. Bernadette has arrived. Kevlan turns to Tayden. Recognizing him from the Infirmary a few days ago, the young DGM loses a bit of the darkness in his expressive gaze, as he replies to him earnestly, "We got a missin' Singah. Gotta git a search party t' go track 'er down." Bernadette sneaks into the hangar, looking around with wide eyes and making her way over to Kevlan, to whom she asks quietly, "What's going on? I got a message on my communit..." A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "JPF Base What's up with the alert?" Daline ducks into the sled, grimacing. Faint grumblings can be heard from inside along the lines of 'crazy as a...ouse rat singers......filthy old b....can't believe I volunt....' Daline steps into the airsled "Lucky 'Lira." Daline has left. Tayden hrms, tapping the cast of his leg against the ground, "Oh? Who's missing?" Kevlan brightens a little more at the voice of his wife. Immediately turning towards her as she comes up to his side, he repeats the explanation he'd just given Tayden. Bernadette listens to Kevlan's explanation and frowns slightly, huddling close to the Deputy Guildmaster. "Who?" she asks. Luthe speaks into the main sled communication unit, "JPF Base to occupants of sled 'Bright Moon', Missing Singer. All willing to join a search party are asked to report to the hangar." Kevlan then adds to both, "CS Shana t'Matari." His accent turns the syllables to liquid. Luthe responds to Bright Moon. "Missing .. All willing to .. asked to .. to hangar." Yelira says, all too loudly, "If the idiot too stupid to fly in ahead of the storm, let 'em rot, I say..." She keeps her attention focused closely on her sled. A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "I'm already airborne please relay details." Tayden hmms, still tapping his cast on the ground, "Shana? Missing? Hmm. I thought she was smarter than that." He glances over at the desktop of the sledtech desk. Luthe speaks into the main sled communication unit, "JPF Base to occupants of sled 'Bright Moon', Copy." Daline steps out from the cramped interior of the airsled "Lucky 'Lira." Daline has arrived. Tayden reaches over and snags a tool off the desktop, "Is this a metal cutter?" Luthe glances at it. "Yep." Daline takes a load of garbage out, glaring at Yelira's back. Yelira growls, "Don't you go anywhere," the moment Daline steps out of her sled. "If I'm not happy, you're doing it again," she adds. Tayden nods, "Thanks, and leans down, quickly using the metal snippers to cut through the cast on his leg. "Hard to fly with htat thing in the way." He bends the knee, testing it. "Lookie there, leg still works." As Bernadette presses into his side, Kevlan silently slips an arm about her slender shoulders, listening solemnly while the techs initiate the search. Tayden drops the cutters back on the desk. Luthe cocks an eyebrow... "Ok..." He shakes his head slightly, and glances at the techs. "When we gonna head out?" Daline, deciding discretion is certainly the better part of valor and potentially lifesaving for recruits in the face of irrational Singers, ducks back into Yelira's sled wordlessly. Daline steps into the airsled "Lucky 'Lira." Daline has left. Tayden looks over at the rack, "Now, I think the next thing I'm gonna need is my sled." Luthe nods, and punches a couple buttons. Luthe bustles around the hangar floor and unloads Tayden's sled from the racks. Tayden's sled has arrived. A vent opens in the side of sled 'Lucky 'Lira' and you can hear rustlings inside. Tayden smiles, "You are too kind. Any idea which way she went?" Bernadette listens and watches the goings on and nudges Kevlan in the ribs. "I'll go, too," she offers, though her voice trembles nearly as much as her small frame has started to. Luthe shakes his head. "I don't know which way she went... She's been out since before the storm." Kevlan blinks, and looks down at Bernadette. "Honey?" It's not quite a question, though the surprise in his voice is evident. Relton frowns, "She left headed southwest." Bernadette clears her throat and her voice is a little steadier though her body's shaking more at the prospect of going back out to the Ranges alone again, "I said, I'll go help look, too." Tayden shrugs, "Southwest doesn't mean much, but ok. See you after a bit." Tayden steps into the airsled "Veillantif." Tayden has left. From sled 'Lucky 'Lira', Sounds of vigorous cleaning activity issue from the sled speaker, and the irreverent grumblings of the recruit inside indicate that she is none too pleased with the 'ancient bat' who's sled she's tidying. Obviously, she didn't realize she'd toggled the switch for sound. Sled Veillantif rises upwards and hovers a moment before it speeds away. Tayden's sled has left. Yelira mutters "Bunch of fools," her arms crossed firmly over her chest, her eyes still glued to her sled. A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "Waiting for a search area." Yelira's eyes darken as she catches the mutterings of the recruit and she storms to the hatch of her one-person sled. Sticking her head in she bellows, "You watch your mouth, if you know what's good for you girl!" Bernadette glances towards Yelira, wincing at the other Singer's tone of voice. From sled 'Lucky 'Lira', a huge clatter and a splash, then a rather scared and angry voice, "Don't _DO_ that! Great Goddess!" Kevlan hugs Bernadette with the arm he's got around her, gently, and tells her, "Well, iffin Relton c'n use us..." He turns an inquiring gaze to the tech. Aeric emerges from the ready room with purpose. Aeric has arrived. Krellin emerges from the ready room with purpose. Krellin has arrived. Relton nods, "Could use everyone we've got, it's going to be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Still, someone's going to have to coordinate here..." Aeric strolls in and looks around assessing the situation on the busy hangar floor. Krellin looks around the busy hangar as he walks in. Krellin spots Kevlan and makes his way toward him. Aeric hikes over to the sled tech desk. Force of habit, perhaps, prompting Kevlan Sharr to treat the older Relton with a younger and lower-ranking man's reactions, the Deputy says a trifle blankly, "Well, you got that covahed, doncha?" A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "One sector complete negative contact. Proceeding to next." "Dammit ALL!" Yelira exlaims, loudly, "Look what you did, you incompetant little fool! You can't get water on the INSTRUMENTS!!" She reaches in as far as she can into the sled trying to grab the recruit and extract some punishment. The two medics coming out onto the floor can find Kevlan standing near Relton at a radar station; Kevlan's wife Bernadette is pressed into his side, one of her husband's arms encircling her shoulders. Relton nods, "I can do that, sir." Krellin frowns and stops his progress toward Kevlan as he turns toward Yelira. Aeric looks at the sledtechs, when one of them has a free moment, he inquires, "What do we know at this point? Crash? or just missing?" A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "Nothing here so far." Kevlan bobs his head levelly to Relton and concludes, "Okay, Berni an' Ah c'n fly out, then." To Berni, he smiles encouragingly, and asks her, "Th' _Teesa_ or th' _Gold_, darlin'?" From sled 'Lucky 'Lira', mad scrabling noises are heard. "I wouldn't have gotten water on the instruments if you hadn't come screaming in here like a mad Syrinian waterhen!" Relton turns to approach the oncoming medics, having missed most of the last. "What was that?" Bernadette's face darkens as she watches Yelira, but she makes no attempt to move away from Kevlan. "Either," she replies. Aeric looks at Relton and repeats in question, "WHat do we know so far?" Relton shakes his head, "She's been gone since a week before the storm. No radar contact, communications, or beacon." Aeric nods, "May I ask who?" Relton adds, "I can't send a wrecker out until I know where to send it." He frowns mightily, "Shana..." Yelira is leaning most of the way into her sled, her legs danling a good couple of inches off the floor as she continues to attempt to nab the recruit inside her sled, "Get the blazes over here, wench!" she growls. Aeric nods, "Okay... so we do know she was out during that storm...", he shakes his head and turns to Krellin, "This isn't going to be good... Want to go ahead and make some preparations to recieve her?" From sled 'Lucky 'Lira', Daline makes a valiant attempt to dart out the open hatch, unfamiliar enough with sleds to forget the other ways to exit. "Fardlin' pups!" Yelira swears as she makes one last nab at the recruit's ankle as she darts past her. A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "Sector 2 complete negative contact." Krellin blinks as he realizes Aeric is addressing him. "Hmm? Oh, yes." He pauses and says to the room in general, "Someone, be sure to notify me when she is found. I want to be up here when she gets in." A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "Still nothing. Sure is pretty out here in the snow." Aeric nods to Krellin, "I'll go ahead and get a gurney down here... and then go back up and get some nurses prepping surgery just in case.." Kevlan, listening to the exchange between Aeric and Relton, puts in solemnly, "Bettah be ready t' treat 'er for exposhah. Still freggin' cold out, even iffin we ain't got a storm on." To Berni, then, "How 'bout it, honey? You an' Ah go look?" Bernadette's attention is dragged back from the display Yelira is putting on and she looks up at her husband with anod, "Sure," she says. "Together or separate?" Aeric ducks into the ready room, escaping from the swirling wind. Aeric has left. From sled 'Lucky 'Lira', Daline has left. Daline steps out from the cramped interior of the airsled "Lucky 'Lira." Daline has arrived. Kevlan ohs silently, then grins in sheepish approval at Berni's suggestion. "Covah more ground iffin' we fly sep'rate..." His gaze turns a little wistful, but he hugs Berni firmly, regardless. Krellin frowns, not really paying attention to what's going on around him as he decides what needs to be done in preperation. Krellin ducks into the ready room, escaping from the swirling wind. Krellin has left. Bernadette nods at Kevlan, trying to look brave. "Separate, then," she gulps, requesting her sled. Daline tumbles out of the sled, her ankle neatly snagged by the Singer with much faster reflexes. Kevlan gives Berni a long and unmistakable look of approving encouragement, dropping a kiss on her brow, then sends her off to get her sled. "An' wintah gear, honey! Don't you freeze!" Yelira crows triumphantly, "Gotcha, you smarmy brat!" she bellows, dragging the recruit towards her. Corbin nods to Bernadette and manipulates the machinery to unload the sled from the racks. Bernadette's sled has arrived. Bernadette nods. "You, too," she musters a small smile for Kevlan, glances at Yelira with some alarm, "Hey..." she says, noting the recruit's unfortunate position, "HEY!" A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "not a thing out here so far." A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "Sector 3 complete. Nothing but snow. Can you folks task a sat on this maybe catch some metal flash in the sun?" Kevlan whirls, then scowls as he spots Daline's predicament. Daline knocks her head hard on the hangar floor, but manages to scramble away a bit, wincing and favoring her left arm. She lashes out without thinking, her other foot connecting with the Singer's forehead. Gurney 2 emerges from the ready room with purpose. Gurney 2 has arrived. Aeric emerges from the ready room with purpose. Aeric has arrived. Yelira, with a yelp of surprise, is knocked backward by the boot suddenly on her head. Her grip of the recruit is released and the Singer crumples to the floor. Kevlan in three quick strides reaches Daline and Yelira, just as Yelira goes sprawling. He blinks twice, then nods in something that might be relief as the fight appears to end as quickly as it starts. To Daline, he asks, "You alright, theah?" "Holy cow!" Bernadette breathes, as the recruit manages to knock out the Singer. She utters a short bark of laughter, grins at Kevlan and scurries onto her sled, now that the emergency has passed. As Aeric comes in, he pushes the gurney out of the way quickly, and noticing the recruit's situation, heads towards her. Bernadette steps into the airsled "Harvest Gold." Bernadette has left. Sled Harvest Gold rises upwards and hovers a moment before it speeds away. Bernadette's sled has left. Daline scrambles to her feet, eyes wide and mouth agape. From her terrified look, she obviously isn't sure what is going to happen to a recruit who just decked a Singer. She swallows hard. Aeric walks towards Daline, keeping an eye on the downed singer as well... he pull out his scanner and speaks to Daline , "It's okay.... ", he quicky scans her. Aeric slowly runs his medical scanner over Daline's body. You hear a slight hum and lights on the small, black gadget flicker. Two beeps sound, and a red light stabilizes, indicating a medical condition for Daline... Her left arm is hanging at a very odd angle because of her tumble from the sled, it is sort of bent so that her elbow bends the opposite from what it normally should, in addition there is a large lump on the back of her head, swelling and turning purple already. A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "Base I've got a flash of orange going down for a closer look." When he doesn't get an immediate answer, Kevlan smiles lopsidedly to the wide-eyed recruit, then turns and studies Yelira for a moment. Evidently dazed by her collision with the floor, the older Singer lies stunned and winded; Kevlan steps towards her, his eyes darkening again and his face going strangely hard, as he extends a leanly muscled hand to run it slowly over the fallen woman, about a meter up from her. "She's buzzin'," he proclaims. A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "Nothing yet how about Rouge 2?" Kevlan then glances to Aeric and asks, "C'n y'all git 'er down t' soak?" Daline begins to shake a bit, shock and pain catching up to her, as well as the resonance from Yelira. She looks at Aeric, saying quietly, "Oh ouch, damn that hurts...." She winces and rubs the back of her head. A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "I take that back base. Found somebody elses claim. But I dont' suppose we get points for theat eh?" A message from sled "Bright Moon" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Dreatha says, "JPF Base looks like a sled stabilizer fin popping out of a snow bank. The disturbance in the snow looks to be the right size for a sled relaying coordinates now. Will remain at a hover for the crews." Aeric looks at Kevlan's assessment and nods, "Yeah, sure can...", he talks into his wrist unit and soon two medical assistants arrive, "Take this singer to the tub room and strap her in...", They nod and pick up Yelira's limp body and help her out, she is quite dazed. Aeric walks to Daline, and looks at the back of her head, "Yes.. I imagine it does..", he leads her to the gurney, "Sit down her for a moment and let me take a look." Kevlan lets out a soft exhalation as Yelira is dealt with; he steps back to Aeric and Daline, then, and asks the latter once more, his drawl relaxing, "You okay, now?" Relton turns to the communication unit, and mutters into it. Relton speaks into the main sled communication unit, "JPF Base to occupants of sled 'Bright Moon', Copying that a crew is on the way." Relton turns towards the Medic, "They'll be bringing her in in a bit." Daline shakily sits down on the gurney, cradling her arm. She manages a weak smile for the Deputy Guild Master, although fear of punishment is clear in her eyes. "Yes sir...I'll be fine." She glances at Aeric, as if for confirmation. Aeric nods, he looks at Daline, then speaks into his wrist unit. Azaria emerges from the ready room with purpose. Azaria has arrived. Relton speaks softly into his wrist comm. You can just make out "... sled... now." Duncan emerges from the ready room with purpose. Duncan has arrived. Aeric speaks softly into his wrist comm. You can just make out "... you... here... banged... well." Duncan treads over to the sled rack. Relton directs a recovery crew out to haul back Shana's sled from the ranges. Estimated time of arrival is 9 minutes. Aeric looks back at Daline, he presses a hypo into her arm, reminding himself that this isn't an adapted person and she will probably be hurting quite a bit. Azaria looks around, then decides this doesn't concern her and moves to file the flimsies in her hand. Aeric looks at Daline, "This will ease the pain a bit okay.. but I'm going to take you to the infirmary as soon as Krellin gets here okay?" Duncan seems agitated as he paces back and forth, the latest weather forcast printouts in his hands. He mutters to himself, "Where did it hit... to the north... ok... soured I'm sure..." Relton looks at his console, "Half an hour, plus or minus." (IC-ly, that is) Leah emerges from the ready room with purpose. Leah has arrived. Aeric's wristunit beeps and he listens to it carefully. You can just make out "... way." Aeric speaks softly into his wrist comm. You can just make out "Relton says... hour... her... your..." Daline relaxes visibly as the hypo enters her bloodstream, nodding to the meditech. "Yes sir...thank you sir." She sags a bit, adrenaline from the fight now gone and leaving pure weariness in its wake. Aeric speaks softly into his wrist comm. You can just make out "I'm... to... infirmary..." Azaria glances at Duncan for a moment, her expression unreadable. Aeric's wristunit beeps and he listens to it carefully. You can just make out "... a hand... Krellin emerges from the ready room with purpose. Krellin has arrived. Aeric places his arm around Daline, on her good side and helps her to the lifts, "Come on.. ", he looks at her, "What's your name recruit?" Duncan Glances up at the racks and then starts scanning the room for an unoccupied sled tech. Krellin looks around as he enters, seeing who is and isn't here. Daline leans a bit on Aeric, "Daline Porobal, sir." She rubs the back of her head again with her good arm. Aeric looks at Krellin, "She's got a broken arm.. and I need to check for a concussion... but It looks like only a bad bump...I'll be back here ASAP." Azaria paces over to the sled rack. Krellin nods at Aeric as he glances at the recruit, "Okay. Anyone know how bad Shana is?" Duncan frowns at the huddle of people around the injured recruit... He should feel sympathy, but doesn't. Azaria moves over to the sled rack and climbs up inside for a moment. Aeric nods, "Well.. Daline.. let's get you taken care of.. okay?", he smiles. Aeric ducks into the ready room, escaping from the swirling wind. Aeric has left. Daline ducks into the ready room, escaping from the swirling wind. Daline has left. Leah escapes the wind that whistles through the hangar to the simulator area. Leah has left. Relton walks to the hangar door and peers out, waiting for a flash of light that would be the wrecker on the way in. Relton walks over by the hangar doors. Azaria climbs back down from the rack, frowning slightly. If his expression -- a fast lightening of his blue gaze and another rueful but, but approving, lopsided smile -- is any indication, Kevlan Sharr has no intention of scolding the wounded recruit. Nor does he, as, this situation resolved, he turns back to the other crisis at hand, to catch up on the communications going on between Relton and the personnel already out on the search patrol. Duncan looks up into the racks again, his eyes now better adjusted for the bright light streaming in from the open hangar doors... "Hey! Zari? That you up there?" He waves his arms, aware of the tech's hearing loss. An enormous transport wagon rumbles into the hangar floor and deposits Shana's disabled sled with a sickening crunch. Shana's sled has arrived. Azaria nods shortly, moving toward Duncan. Relton looks up at Kevlan, "They're on the way in." A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "Nothing Folks." Relton speaks into the main sled communication unit, "JPF Base to occupants of sled 'Veillantif', Shana's sled has been found repeat has been found." Kevlan nods gravely, blinking a bit as he registers that Shana's being located means his wife and the other searchers can be recalled. He does, in fact, tap Relton's shoulder, waiting for the older man to turn his attention to him so he can suggest that very action. Azaria stops a few paces from Duncan. "Can I help you, Singer?" Duncan looks less frazzled now that he's spotten Azaria... "Good to see you on the job again," he says, brushing his hand over the top of his head. "Can you get my sled down? After that storm, I've got to get out there and check my sites." Relton turns to face the Deputy Guild Master and flashes him an inquiring look, "I'll call them all back now, sir." A message from sled "Veillantif" is heard over the hangar floor speaker: Tayden says, "Well there goes my bonus. *laugh* Really I hope she's ok. Glad you found her. Veillantif out." Azaria quickly checks her list. "Are you cleared?" Relton finishes at the comm unit and walks over to the sled as the wrecker lays it on the hangar floor. He turns to face the medics as he glances at the sled. Duncan frowns, "Cleared? What do you mean, cleared?" Relton strolls over to the wall, out of the way. As the searchers start calling back in to report their impending returns, Kevlan turns to the bustle surrounding the recovered sled, and strides over to see what happens. Azaria sighs. "I'm just checking to make sure you're not grounded. Don't pull touchy singer on me and I won't treat you like the rest of them, Duncan." Duncan's face reddens as a bitter retort forms. A look at Azaria's expression stifles the retort. Duncan nods instead, and the anger drains out of his face. Azaria gives a short nod. "Good. Now you want your sled?" Duncan says "Please." Azaria bustles around the hangar floor and unloads Duncan's sled from the racks. Duncan's sled has arrived. Aeric emerges from the ready room with purpose. Aeric has arrived. Duncan's eyes follows the Sledtech as she positions his sled on the hanger floor. He shifts his cutter slightly, then again brushes his hand over the top of his head, doing little to improve the tangled mess of "pillow hair". He nods his thanks, wordlessly. Azaria starts to move toward Duncan, then pauses and merely gives a short nod. As the medics converge on Shana's sled, Kevlan lingers, out of the way, watching with vivid worry etched on his face. Relton glances at the medics as he halts at the entry to the sled. Aeric joins Krellin on the hangar floor, he pushes the gurney along towards the wreck. Duncan blurts, "Zari, I could use your... help. Preflighting..." He seems uncharacteristicly awkward. Krellin quickly makes his way toward Shana's sled. Aeric strolls over to the sled rack. Krellin steps into the airsled "Alqualonde." Krellin has left. Aeric steps into the airsled "Alqualonde." Aeric has left. Azaria lifts an eyebrow. After a moment, she shrugs. "Sure." Without another word, she slides under the sled to check the landing gear and other equipment. Aeric steps out from the cramped interior of the airsled "Alqualonde." Aeric has arrived. Gurney 2 is loaded in to the sled. Gurney 2 has left. Aeric steps into the airsled "Alqualonde." Aeric has left. Duncan bends down to say, "Thanks," to the disappearing form under the sled, then begins his own slow inspection around the craft, opening check plates now and then, shaking a flight surface... A loud banging sound and a curse comes from under the sled. Duncan ducks down to his hands and knees and looks under the sled... "Zari? You ok?" Aeric steps out from the cramped interior of the airsled "Alqualonde." Aeric has arrived. Gurney 2 is unloaded from the airsled. Gurney 2 has arrived. Krellin steps out from the cramped interior of the airsled "Alqualonde." Krellin has arrived. Shana Shana is a petite woman with a slight rose tint to her cheeks. Her waist length hair is usually plaited, but you can see the color is such a dark ebony that it almost appears a deep blue. Thick eyelashes frame bright green eyes, and if you look closely, you can see the gold flecks rimming her pupils. Her skin is a rich tanned brown, setting off the color of her eyes. She smells faintly of cinnamon and sandalwood, and she usually has a bright smile on her face. Her voice is a rich contralto, and she speaks in an accent that is hard to place but quite pleasant. Her hair is matted with blood and mostly pulled out of the braid it was in. Stray locks hang raggedly to her waist and, considering the shape she's in, it's pretty amazing that none of it has been pulled out. The jumpsuit she used to be wearing now hangs about her body in tatters. It looks as though it used to be some shade of green, but it's nearly impossible to tell because of the bloodstains. She is wearing tough leather working boots that come up to her knees. You can see the flecks of crystal dust imbedded in them, in spite of the many efforts to keep them clean. All traces of jewelry are absent from her. If you happen to be near Shana, the hair on your arm stands on end. This singer isn't much more than a large mass of dried blood. She stopped bleeding some time ago, but not before she lost enough blood to cover most of her body in scabs. The most grotesque of these is the one over her eye, or rather, filling the socket where her eye would be if she still had it. Though she lost blood from this injury she lost quite a bit more from the dozens of cuts covering her body that she received when she made the mistake of being in the path of flying crystal shards. If you can see her through the dried blood you'll see that she's also covered in bruises, several of which are on her head, where she also has a few bumps. From the intense pain coming from her chest she knows several of her ribs are fractured. What she might not realize is that two of her ribs are displaced and one of these has punctured a lung. The time that has gone by has only made this injury that much worse as the pleural cavity of her chest has filled with blood. On top of all of this she has one broken arm and one very swollen, sprained ankle. She has been out in a bad storm recently and shows mental as well as physical signs of it. Callling this singer distracted would be the understatement of the century. She's barely connected to reality, the storm apparently effecting her more than even the worst resonace would. [Aeric, hooking up an IV as he goes, hurries with Krellin and the gurney off the Hangar floor, escaping from the swirling wind.] Kevlan hisses, softly, as Shana's battered form is pulled from the vehicle. "Star-Lady Mother of All...." Azaria tosses out rusty nut, muttering something about snow and other problems. You communicate to Aeric Krellin: Git me a report soon's yah can! Kevlan, as the medics haul the wounded Singer off, fights down the twist in his gut at Shana's battered appearance, and the shudders that racked his frame at the sight. Once she's gone, it's easier. At last, as the rest of the search team makes its way in, Kevlan turns back to the scene at hand. Azaria finally comes back out from under the sled, one hand red and scraped looking. Bernadette's sled, the _Harvest Gold_, makes it back after a time; Bernadette herself emerges from the vehicle as if shot out of it, and darts straight for her husband as if consumed with relief that she was able to come back. Murmured words are exchanged between the two Singers, before Kevlan finally accompanies his wife off the floor. [End log.]
