Log Intro: True to his intent, Tamber al-Acorrin takes his young friend Kevlan Sharr back to the tailors' division at the Heptite Guild - having already made some other arrangements on the side, regarding Kevlan's trip to Hesperia, and who will be going with him..... ---------- Outside Tailor, Tamber taps the visual display requesting admittance.. From Tailor Shop, Joran calls out "Do come in.". Tamber steps into the tailor shop. Tamber has left. You enter the tailor shop. Tailor Shop This is a largish room, but it is so cluttered and filled that it feels rather small. The room is painted white in the places you can see the walls. However, most of the wall space is taken by shelving and cubicles containing thread, needles, scissors, bolts of cloth, and other odds and ends. The back wall has several racks with completed outfits, either ready to be delivered or picked out and bought. In the middle of this wall is a small door. In the middle of the room is a big table, its top covered by a grid, where there is sure to be some sort of clothing being worked upon at any time. The right wall has several machines against it. One is a glorified sewing machine, capable of being either manually or computer operated. Another machine is a computer controlled laser pattern cutter to cut out perfect patterns of fabric entered into the computer. On the left wall is a privacy partition to change behind and a large mirror. In the nearer corner on that side is a small table with a data unit where orders may be entered. Tamber glances over with years of long habit to see if Tailor Joran's attention is in their direction as he smilingly guides his young companion into the room. Joran eyes the two of you as you enter. He smiles, standing and walking around the table towards you. "Welcome again, gentlemen." Kevlan smiles shyly, and ventures an earnest, "'lo, sir... " Tamber inclines his head with mannered smoothness. "I trust we are not too early, good tailor?" Kevlan mutters plaintively to Tamber, "You sure Ah'm gonna hafta git a haircut?" before the Sorter nudges his attention back to the matter at hand. Joran chuckles, "Well, you two must think me capable of miracles, in the least. Just barely got up after heading to bed late last night, just after you two left. My oil burns late, but not all night long." He smiles. Tamber's green eyes twinkle. "For the credits I hope I will be able to talk my young friend into spending, I should hope we can purchase a miracle or two!" He gives Joran a mock long-suffering expression. "The boy's wardrobe is in dire straits, let me assure you." Kevlan smiles halfheartedly, blushes, and doesn't quite look at either of you. Joran smiles, "Nothing replaces good, honest hard work. Other things may approach it, but never replace it. However, I do have other wares for sale. Never hurts to have several things to wear, no?" Kevlan blinks, as if the idea of buying more than one set of clothing hadn't occurred to him. Tamber, however, nods with confident assurance. "Indeed. A poor picture our Singer would present if he had only one pleasing set of clothing to his name!" Joran chuckles, "And to have to go in his skivvies while they were laundried... Though I'm sure the lady folk wouldn't complain too much..." He flashes a grin towards Kevlan. "So, what else might you have a desire?" Kevlan turns scarlet at the mention of ladies, and for a moment, looks very distraught. Tamber eyes Kevlan solemnly, and with surprising deftness, smoothly follows Joran's change of subject. "What might you have available in general travel wear? Something of elegant but comfortable design I believe would do for our purposes." Kevlan blinkblinks morosely, and then snaps his attention back to the here and now. Joran shakes his head, smiling a little less broadly. "Ahhh, elegant and comfortable would cover a lot. But I suspect something a bit less formal is what you have in mind for your friend. A lot can be done with a fine, perhaps silken, shirt and trousers." Joran smiles, "Some intricate patterning... with a fancy cut to the shirt." Kevlan scrubs a hand across his eyes, and tries to look alert as Tamber nods serenely to Joran's suggestions. "Not nearly so intricately hued as the formal wear, but nevertheless, flattering and casual." Kevlan asks hopefully, "Um, blue?" Joran laughs softly, "Blue? Yes, we can do blue again. And I think the patterning should be somewhat organic looking for you, no angular shapes." He nods, eyeing Kevlan intently as he imagines him in the outfit his mind is generating. Kevlan shifts a little, nervous under the scrutiny, but trying very hard to look at ease. Tamber smiles to Joran, and puts in, "I have found that earth shades seem to fit Kevlan... greens, and tans." Kevlan ohs! "Uh-huh... " He tells Joran, "Ah-Ah-Ah got me a couple light brown shirts, sir." Joran blinks, catching movement to one side. He turns his focus away from Kevlan, catching the phrase after Tamber repeats it at his request. "Tans and greens... Hmmm.. Perhaps a blue shirt with a tan or green patterning... Quite possible, yes." Kevlan looks between the two men, mostly helpless in such debate, being one who generally classifies clothing as something to wear to keep from being cold. Tamber laughs softly, and asks Joran, "Might you have a selection through which we could browse?" Joran smiles, "Nothing matching that exact description. But you are more than welcome to look through my racks and the electronic catalog." He sweeps his hands across at the racks and then points at the data screen. Kevlan nods and says ruefully to Tamber, "Maybe you better he'p me, Tam... " Tamber beams. "By all means, Galahad, by all means. Let us browse. Good tailor, I trust we will not disturb your work by our search?" Joran chuckles, "As long as you don't shine a light in my eyes, I should be rather content." Joran smiles and moves back behind the table. "And it will give me some time to sketch out the order from last night, giving you two an idea of what it will be like." Kevlan and Tamber nod thankfully, and the Sorter briskly guides his young friend to the data display. Sign This shop is now open. The database for predefined clothing is very sparse, currently, but do feel free to special order anything your mind can come up with. Prices depend on complexity, time involved in creating the item, and the materials used. I.e., rather generic jump suits are in the range of 10-20 credits, whereas an elaborate wedding gown or tuxedo may go for several hundreds of credits. Also, the proprietor does engage in bartering for those who may be strapped for cash. Delivery of ordered items should not take more than one RL week, unless this tailor shop become inordinately popular. However, note that RL may interfere with the tailor's time, so do not be too surprised if it takes longer. Enjoy! PS, do use the Data Screen. But please try to remember to 'touch main' when you are done. At least til it has been programmed to time out and automatically return to the main menu. Data Screen A large, touch screen data unit. The unit is only about an inch thick and is attached to the wall right above the table, well within easy reach of anyone sitting at the table or standing nearby.
