Log Date: 6/8/96 Log Cast: Ayerth, Karga, Alorn Log Intro: In his efforts to befriend the human child Alorn has brought into the Mountain, Ayerth takes an unprecedented step: allowing Karga to visit his chambers, where he hopes to show her some of the ways that elves live. Nervous at this, as she has been at most everything she has encountered in the Mountain thus far, Karga nevertheless jumps at the chance to leave the dour hole in which she's been sleeping, and so, accompanies Ayerth to his rooms.... ---------- The little human is in awe. . .he can understand a little about what she must be feeling. . .the first time he saw egg, the same reactions. Slowly, cautioushly, he begins showing her the room. the fireplace. . .the large window with it's curtians. . .the paints and brushes. . .he explains them all to her, pausing to answer any questions she may have. Ayerth says "" Karga frowns lightly, trying to follow the halting explanations, as well as comprehend the words that are unfamiliar to her. The window she seems to grasp, as well as the fireplace, though the skill and beauty of the shaping of both holds her yellow gaze for a long time. The paints are clearly more exotic... and she pokes a brown finger into a splash of color where the paints are kept. She draws up the fingertip and peers at the blue smear there, in wonder. Ayerth's Room(#7633RJh) Hidden in the shadows of the grotto is a long winding tunnel. . .at the end is Ayerth's room. When you first enter, your senses are overwhelmed by light pouring into the room from a large opening in the side of the mountain, a window to the outside world. Flanking this window are heavy wooden shutters and thick curtians made of red velvet, designed to block the intrusion of strong winds. To your left is a small alcove. . .Ayerth's bedchamber. A large stone bed layered with furs and pillows of every sort is against the back wall. A fireplace is in the left part of the alcove, and in front of it is a large rug woven from the feathers of the bonds on the nesting ledge. Back in the main room, to your right is a large cabinet filled with clean clothes and a few personal items. Next to the window, where the light is best, stands a small easel and a few rolled up paintings Ayerth has done. A few paints and brushes sit on a small table next to the easel. Scattered around the walls are several torches in shaped stone holders, unlit now. This is Ayerth's home in the mountain. Contents: Ayerth box Chosen doll Ty's Painting Obvious exits: Grotto " Ayerth says haltingly. A quick demonstration of painting follows. . .he hands a small brush to Karga, has her dip it into the blue paint, and has her draw a slim line down the cloak of the painting he's working on, as a hilight." For a long moment, the girl stares. "" Ayerth says "" Karga peers at her companion, then at the painted image, fascinated. "" Ayerth nodnods slowly. "" repeats the young human, scowling thoughtfully. "" Ayerth says "" Karga considers this notion, brow furrowed. "" Ayerth nodnods. . ." If the look on her face is anything by which to judge, the human seems to find this an utterly astounding idea. Perhaps giving it weighty thought -- the less kind Gliders might accuse her of requiring time to put any thought to the matter at all -- the child is silent for at least a minute, before she suddenly pipes out, "" Ayerth says "" Ayerth knows what his words must mean to the little human. . .confusing at least. . . Karga, however, seems oddly unsurprised. "" she cries. Ayerth shrugs. . ." [Karga is not quite sure she believes it. But Ayerth, content to not press the point, at least for now, lets the girl settle in to investigate all of the fascinating contents of his room, especially the paints. Perhaps hoping to win her trust, he leaves her be for a time. But before he returns, someone else catches up with them....] Log Date: 6/9/96 Alorn has arrived from the grotto Alorn has arrived. Karga is sitting on the floor in the middle of this chamber, squinting thoughtfully at a collection of paints, and experimentally dabbing her finger into them. Alorn strolls into the room, hands laced together behind her. She pauses and scowls faintly to herself, nodding once when she notices you. Then she raises an eyebrow, watching. Karga smears colors on a scrap of leather, pondering the results as she does so -- then startling, all at once, when she notices your shadow falling across her. Her head jerks up, and her yellow eyes widen. "" The elf looks intently at the leather for a moment before shifting her gaze to you. "" Karga gets to her feet. Near her lies her ever-present bulky spear, but for once, she isn't hanging onto it with her usual white-knuckled grip; perhaps her guard is down. She offers the color-streaked scrap, and begins, "" Alorn frowns a little, thoughtfully, and holds out a hand for the scrap. "" Again her eyebrow raises, and she glances 'round the room again. "" Karga readily hands over the bit of leather, and answers, "" She turns a bit, pointing. "" Alorn turns the thing over in her hand a few times, then switches it off, rubbing gingerly at the paint. "" Karga turns back, and tells you, "" Then, her brow furrows, and her gaze turns wary. "" Alorn sets the leather down and shakes her head. "" Ayerth has arrived. Karga frowns slightly, studying Alorn's expression with a baffled one of her own, and not yet noticing Ayerth's return. Ayerth halts in the doorway . .. Alorn stands with her back to Ayerth, watching Karga. Again she shakes her head. "" The human girl frowns, confused. " Just slightly, her voice shakes. Ayerth just watches. . .silently. . . Alorn shakes her head once more. "" Since Alorn's back is to him, Karga may be able to see him. . .he places a finger to his lips and tells her to be quiet. . . Karga's gaze shifts briefly, past Alorn. For a moment, the girl's brow furrows very slightly; she stammers, then, "" Alorn tips her head slightly to one side, then nods. "" Karga leans over to pick up her spear, and steadies herself as she straightens again. "" Alorn leans over to wipe the last of the paint off her fingers, turning her head just a little as she does. Then she straightens. "" and on that she turns, "" Karga chews her lip a little, not knowing what is going to happen here... Ayerth's brow wrinkles. . ."snakes?" he thinks to himself silently. . . Alorn smiles sweetly at Ayerth, but it is a darkly sweet smile. "" Ayerth says "" Ayerth steps from the shadows. . . Alorn continues to smile, but sends in ice. ** You were told to stay away. ** Ayerth nods slightly. . ."She was lonely Alorn. . .I was simply being hospitible." Alorn shakes her head. ** It's none of your business, Ayerth. I don't care what you were doing. You. Were. Warned. ** Ayerth turns to little Karga.. ."" then back to Alorn. . ."I apologise Alorn. . .but she sparked an interest in me. . .and she and I have become friends." Karga nods, slowly, in greeting to Ayerth, as her gaze flicks from his face to Alorn's. Something's wrong here, though she can't put her finger on it.... ** Isn't that sweet. ** Alorn doesn't quite walk to toward Ayerth, rather she drifts toward him. ** And too bad. ** Ayerth says "what are you going to do?" Ayerth backs slightly away. . .a measure of fear in his normally cheerful voice. . . Alorn drifts still closer to Ayerth, holding out a hand to him. "" Ayerth says "< I am a serpent alorn?>"" Karga frowns, again, growing more worried. "" Ayerth says "" Ayerth looks at alorn and drifts away. .. Karga blinks, and cries, "" Karga steps forward, worried, unsure, but not liking the looks the two floating onces are exchanging. The human girl tries to straighten to her full height; she should be brave for this... Ayerth says "" "" Alorn moves still closer to Ayerth, her hand moving toward his face and her eyes going cold. "" Ayerth says "" Ayerth nearly falls over in his haste to back away from alorn. .. Karga pauses, a baffled look drawing her eyebrows together. "" Ayerth says "shadowfox is" Alorn nods a little, drifting nearer still to the other glider. "" Ayerth finally backs to a wall. . .he can go no further. .. Karga yelps, horrified, "" Alorn chuckles softly, watching Ayerth. "" Ayerth says "Shadowfox " Karga stares, gaze flicking between the two elves repeatedly. Not knowing who to believe, she blurts, "" Ayerth says "Shadowfox " Alorn starts toward Ayerth again. "" Again she attemps to snag Ayerth, this time by the chin. ** It's too late for that.. ** Since he's against the wall, he gets snagged. . ." Alorn glares at Ayerth, holding him still enough she can make eye contact. Ayerth suddenly stiffens. . .unable to move Karga blinks at Ayerth's gasped words, then cries to Alorn, "" She trails off, though, as Alorn's prey freezes. "" That said, Alorn focuses on her task. Ayerth Is frozen still.. . You say "" Alorn is almost equally as frozen. A tear trickles from Ay's eye. . .whatever she's doing must be bad. . . Karga repeats worriedly, "" Alorn still doesn't answer. Ayerth grinds his teeth. . Ayerth sinks slowly to the ground. . . Karga tenses, then, impulsively, steps forward, to jiggle Alorn's arm. Alorn blinks at the touch, turning her head sharply. "Wha.." Ayerth slowly gets heavier. . .as if his gliding were being drawn from him. . . Karga, clearly frightened, demands, "" Alorn touches her free hand to her temple and sighs. "" " Karga studies Ayerth, troubled. "" Alorn looks back at Ayerth again, narrowing her eyes for a moment. "" [Trouble indeed. To be continued; for now, end log.]
