Log Date: 7/2/96 Log Cast: WaveDancer, Alorn, Karga Log Intro: As the seasons begin to pass on the beach where Alorn, Zichri, and Karga are camped, Alorn takes some measure of interest in Karga's wishes; the human girl has grown frustrated over her inability to be like, or even speak like, her elfin companions. With this in mind, Alorn has begun teaching her certain elf words, among them, 'hawk' -- and has even asked Karga if she'd like one. Stunned by the notion of herself on a giant hawk like Alorn's, and stilll not quite trusting that Alorn will go through with offering her such a grand gift, Karga has only tentatively allowed herself to express interest. Other changes have been happening to the young human, as well. She is growing up, and with this, comes her moon-times and the need to take what measures she can to deal with this. Remembering that the women of her former village did during their moon-times, she has taken to secluding herself from Alorn and Zichri when her own come to her. Zichri is proving to be just as troubling to Karga as Alorn, if not more. The younger elf delights in taking what chances he can to torment Karga, and although she loathes his attitudes and the supercilious looks he gives her... she finds that, like the rest of the floating ones of the sky-place, he is disturbingly beautiful. But Karga cannot stay as secluded as she likes, and eventually, strangers begin to discover their camp.... ---------- The redheaded elf wrinkles her nose. ** Eggs? ** Karga steps out of the trees, hauling her spear behind her... and then pauses at the fringe of the camp, staring, body gone stiff. WaveDancer WaveDancer's shapely long legs are the first things you notice as you look to this small yet firey elf. Second, you notice her long red hair which tumbles freely down her back, and her unusual bright green eyes with long red lashes. Her emerald bikini fits her like a second skin, and her net skirt serves more as a fishing net than a skirt. She laughs in her rough voice, but her eyes sparkle like the sea. The webs of her hands have been torn, and unhealed, giving the appearance of long slender fingers, and the palm of her right hand is deeply scarred, but she pays these old injuries no heed, instead carrying herself with the pride and love of the chief's second of the Rafts. Carrying: Goldenwing "Eggs." The other elf replies, nodding once. She glances over her shoulder at the redheaded WaveDancer, smirking. "Problem?" WaveDancer turns at the sound, her eyes widening briefly. ** Oh..... yes.... ** She presses her lips together, then speaks slowly in a tongue not native... and one she did not think she'd speak again. Her voice is low and gravelly... but it suffices. <> Karga's brown hands clench on her spear, and a close glance might reveal that her grip is shaking. Yellow eyes flick to Alorn, and after a moment, this gawky five-finger creature demands, "" Alorn arches a brow at the other elf, then turns slightly to look at Karga. "" She shakes her head. "" WaveDancer nods slowly. WaveDancer ponders a moment, then smiles. She turns, slipping into the water. WaveDancer heads towards Water WaveDancer has left. From Shallows, WaveDancer arrives from the Beach on the VastDeep Water. Karga's gaze, hot, almost feverishly so, flicks to the stranger's tapered ears, to her strange hands, to her scant clothing. Suddenly shivering, she makes a sound almost like a growl, deep in the back of her throat, and steps back towards the trees. From Shallows, WaveDancer swims out a bit, then dives under the water, vanishing from sight. Alorn frowns a bit, then remembers. Abruptly she changes the subject. "" From Shallows, WaveDancer resufraces, and swims back...^ From Shallows, WaveDancer heads towards Beach WaveDancer arrives from the Shallows. WaveDancer has arrived. Karga warily eyes the distant figure, but flicks her attention to Alorn. WaveDancer wades out of the water, her net-skirt gathered in two hands. Alorn holds out a hand to Karga. "" WaveDancer watches from her distance... she knows when not to interrupt. Karga edges towards Alorn, half her attention still on the stranger. Her brown face is still taut with a scowl, and her steps are equally tight. WaveDancer approaches slowly and with a smile on her face. Alorn holds out the pouch she was holding with her other hand. "" Alorn dropped lumpy leather pouch. lumpy leather pouch A rather small pouch is this, crafted of soft, slightly worn dark blue leather. Criss-crossing swashes of scarlet and saffron and black have been painted along its bottom, and the strings that tie it are beaded in silver. Two shapes can be made out inside of it, both of them rather round, almost eggish. If the pouch were to be opened and its contents removed, it would be quite obvious that they are indeed eggs. Both are rather large, though one is definatly larger than the other. This one is pale, colored like translucent ivory, and spattered with a streaking pattern of warm browns. The smaller one has a faintly blue cast to it, with speckles like sand intermingled with its brown streaks. Karga's eyes open a little. Warily, though, she reaches for the pouch; when it becomes apparent that Alorn is not going to snatch it back, she opens it, and stares at its contents. " haw-uks?" Alorn again mostly ignores WaveDancer, though she nods to Karga. "" WaveDancer removes her skirt. Something flippity-flops within it. She sets it down and backs up. Karga crouches with the pouch, touching a curious finger to the eggs. Her brow is still furrowed, but a subtle difference suggests that wariness might be yielding to curiosity. "" Alorn mmmms quietly, considering. Then she nods. "" Karga sits back on her haunches, frowning thoughtfully. That there is something in this egg that makes a haw-uk strikes her as a great Mystery, but this she does not voice, not to Alorn, and not with the stranger close by. Her yellow gaze studies each of the eggs in turn. WaveDancer retreats to the water's edge, sitting quietly now, her back to the other two. Alorn folds her arms over each other and glances back at WaveDancer. Then she looks back to Karga, and waits. [Scene terminated, as the involved parties had to go. End log...]
