Log Intro --------- After being attacked in the Ranges and left for dead in her sled, Yelira's emergency beacon is noted and she is hauled back into JPF where medic Aeric is summoned to meet the "Lucky 'Lira." --------- Yelira's sled One step into the interior of this sled is enough to gag a camel, assuming you know what a camel is. The stench is incredible, and most of it appears to be coming from the bedding! Every surface inside this sled is covered with grime, especially the area around the catering unit. This singer has odd eating habits, evidenced by the unusual bits of dried food stuck on the floor. You can just barely identify bits of fruit, gruel, and dried beer in the revolting patterns. The sanitary unit is barely dirty, and you wonder just what the singer has been doing with it? This is a 1 person capacity sled. There is room in this sled for 5 cartons, 2 have been checked out. The console is off. The emergency beacon is blinking rapidly. The speaker is off. The auto-scanner is on. A small metal plate is fastened to the upper left corner, you can just make out "Lucky 'Lira" scratched into the surface. The weather is fine. A good day for flying. ( Type 'sled help' to see available commands. ) >From outside the sled, Aeric looks around the room, he turns to Corbin, "You called me?". Corbins turn and in his own silent way points to the sled that was just hauled in. >From outside the sled, Aeric nods to Corbin, "Just pulled it in I guess? Crash?", he asks, and Corbin slowly shakes his head, "No.. just got the emergency beacon." >From outside the sled, Aeric nods, walks towards the undamaged sled, he looks up the sled name on his medical scanner's datapad, Yelira. He calls out, "Yelira, are you okay.", he walks to the hatch and presses the release lever. No sounds can be heard coming from the "Lucky 'Lira" in response to the meditech's inquiry. >From outside the sled, Aeric sighs and waits as the hatch slides open, he step into the sled looking back and forth at it's dark contents. >From outside the sled, Aeric has left. Aeric has arrived. Yelira is sprawled on the floor as though she were dropped there, unmoving. An alarming amount of blood is half-coagulated around her on the floor. Aeric fumbles about the console, and manages to turn the power on, which turns on the overhead lights in the sled, finally revealing Yelira's form, "Oh my god..", he exclaims, as he stoops to her side, "Yelira... can you hear me?" Yelira doesn't respond. What you can see of her face is nearly sheet white. Aeric pulls out his scanner and passes it over Yelira's still body, he sighs in relief as he catches a pulse. Good symbionte, keep her alive, he thinks to himself, at least long enough to get her down to medical. Aeric slowly runs his medical scanner over Yelira's body. You hear a slight hum and lights on the small, black gadget flicker. Two beeps sound, and a red light stabilizes, indicating a medical condition for Yelira... At first look you wonder if this singer could even be alive, but somehow though the symbiont has managed to keep her in one piece, well mostly, she is missing her entire right arm, it looks at if it was pulled from it's socket, the stark white socket that her ball joint is supposed to be in stares out from her shoulder. A bloody stripe runs down the back of this singer's head, missing hair and skin, you can see her skull through the hole, and the large crack in it. Her body is covered with large black and purple bruises, and as she walks towards you she has a definite lean to one side, which probably is due to the fact that two of her vertebrae in her lower back or out of position, and she has a slipped disk as well, if it wasn't for the symbiont's healing power to reconnect her spinal cord, this singer would surely be paralyzed. Aeric frowns as he looks at the readout on the scanner... Damn. This is all he needed to start his workshift off with. Aeric quickly prepares an air-hypo, and presses it to her one remaining shoulder, "Yelira.. however did you manage to do this to yourself.", he says mostly to himself, since Yelira is in no shape to answer. >From outside the sled, Astaris emerges from the ready room with purpose. >From outside the sled, Astaris has arrived. Yelira, amazingly enough, begins to stir. Aeric looks at where she is lying, and calls on his wrist unit for a gurney. Aeric manuvuers the anti-grav gurney into the sled carefully, a lot easier to get this into a non-wrecked sled, he thinks to himself, he presses a button and it lowers down the floor, he carefully lifts Yelira onto it, and raises the gurney again. You step out from the cramped interior of the sled "Lucky 'Lira." Gurney 2 You are on the soft mattress of a medical gurney. It's strong shock absobers prevent you from being jolted much. A big fluffy pillow is beneath your head.. If you want to see where the gurney is, 'look/outside'. You are helped onto the gurney by the medic. Yelira groans softly as she's moved. You are unloaded from the airsled. Hangar Floor The immense cavern that serves the guild faces the eastern sky. The blue sky merges with the harsh browns of the long plain of the Joslin Plateau far to the east. The smoothly tiled floor is scarred by myriad gashes and scratches caused by wind-tossed sleds. The northern and southern walls contain over-large double doors while the western wall is set with observation windows. Looking around (+view), you notice several signs posted. The hangar is half hidden in shadows as Scoria graces the sky high above. The horizon merges with the sky in hazy bands of blue. The sled racks are illuminated slightly. Aeric pushes an anti-grav gurney out from Yelira's sled, on it, is what looks like a person, but there's so much blood, and she seems to be missing an arm. Yelira's eyes flutter open, but their icy-blue gaze doesn't focus on anything in particular. She moans again. Aeric pushes the gurney across the floor, "Out of the way... ", he calls to the recruits standing by the entrance, "Coming through." Astaris gasps softly, and watches for a moment, before turning her pale face in the direction ofentrance. She scurries quickly out of Aeric's way. Aeric looks down at Yelira, "Just stay still Yelira... ", he says as he notices her awake, Boy does the symbiont work quickly, he thinks to himself. Aeric pushes the gurney out of the room. [ down to the Trauma Centre we go... ] You walk from the comparative quiet to the controlled frenzy of the trauma center. Trauma Centre This part of the infirmary is clearly designed for efficiency, but it doesn't seem to help much. Doctors, nurses and support staff rush from one room to another, seemingly overstretched beyond endurance but still working on. Aeric walks in from the quiet of the lift area to the controlled frenzy of the trauma center. Aeric pushes the gurney into the room, calling out to a nurse, "Prepare surgery.. I've got a near paralysis here...". The nurses nods and rushes off towards the sugical suite, but not before taking one look at Yelira and turning a bit pale. Yelira croaks raggedly, her voice little more than a whisper, "'smy crystal...go 'way..." as she weakly lifts her left arm as if to shoo someone away. Aeric looks down at Yelira as he attaches an IV to her good arm, "Yelira.. can you hear me?" You can practially create a symphony with the crystal resonance jangling your nerves, singing in your veins. Non-singers around you see: Yelira appears to be extremely irritable, almost irrational. Aeric pauses for a moment, as she mutters this, where did he hear this recently? Another singer... before?... before he went on vacation.. Yes, that's it.. Shana.. she was saying the same thing.. and was hurt very badly too.. a claim jumper...but then he turns his attention back to the immediate problem which is saving this singer's life, "It'll be okay Yelira..Just try and relax. Yelira's eyes do indeed move towards you at the sound of your voice, but she doesn't respond verbally, nor does she actually focus upon you. The nurse returns from the surgical suite rather reluctantly, she looks at Aeric, "We're ready Doctor..", she notes and moves to Yelira's side. Aeric nods, "Okay, let's get her into prep...", he pushes the gurney towards the double metal doors of the sugical suite. Aeric pushes the gurney out of the room. You enter the tense atmosphere of the surgery suite. Surgery The anteroom to the operating suite is well-lit. However, there is a faint tang of antiseptic on the air, which never quite seems to disappear. Obvious exits: Recovery Prep Room Scrub Room Trauma Center Gurney 1 enters from the trauma center waiting room. Aeric enters from the trauma center waiting room. Aeric pushes the gurney out of the room. Gurney 1 opens the swinging doors and enters the prep room. You push the swinging doors open and enter the prep room. Preparation room This room is used to prepare patients for surgery. Like the rest of the medical center, it is spotlessly clean. Sinks and racks of towels and sheets line the walls. A few pieces of equipment are placed to allow the staff to monitor the patient before the operation. Contents: Gurney 1(#3083ae$) Obvious exits: Operating Theatre Surgery Aeric pushes through the swinging door separating the prep room from the surgery hallway. Aeric grabs a pair of scissors and starts to remove Yelira's rather worn and ripped jumpsuit, he turns to the nurse, "Prepare the anthiestic.." The nurse complies and places a mask over Yelira's mouth and nose. Yelira bats weakly at the mask "Get offa me..." she protests. Aeric frowns, and helps the nurse hold it on Yelira, "Calm down Yelira... this is for your own good.. I'm not operating on someone's spinal column unless the can't move at all...and putting you out is the best way..." Yelira's voice sounds hollow and muffled as she speaks through the mask "'smy crystal...where's my crys..." and as the anesthesia does its job, her eyes flutter shut and she slips once more into unconsciousness. Aeric frowns again, as she mentions what sounds like ramblings of someone who's been claim jumped, but satisfied that she's out, he finishes cutting off her jumpsuit, and with the nurses help turns her over on the gurney, placing her face in a padded cutout pillow so she she can breathe while he operates, "Okay.. let's go..", he says getting behind the gurney. Aeric pushes the gurney out of the room. The automatic doors open with a *whoosh* to let you enter. Operating theatre The theatre is immaculately clean. Ranged around the walls are various pieces of medical equipment, clearly of the highest quality. The machinery and skill available here can repair almost anything, short of massive trauma. Obvious exits: Recovery Room Prep Room Scrub Room Gurney 1 comes out of the prep room, ready for surgery. Game INFO: This is a room that may be monitored via +watch. Aeric comes out of the prep room, ready for surgery. Aeric leaves Yelira in the capable hands of the medical nurses and goes into the scrub room, he returns moments later dress in green medical srubs and with a green mask over his face. While he was gone, one of the nurses managed to stop the bleeding and bandage up her arm socket, he nods to her, as if to say 'good work', then moves around to Yelira's exposed back. Aeric goes to work on her back, making incisions, and moving her vertebrae around, readjusting the discs to make room for the symbiont to heal the spinal cord in a straight path, not the crooked one it made just to keep her going. Finally with a sigh, and a wipe of his brow by the nurse to his right, he closes her back up. Aeric sighs and leans back for a moment, resting his eyes and hands, as the nurses move around him preparing his to clean up and bandage her head, they have already shaved most of the hair off the back of her head, and prepared a piece of synthetic skin to replace what has been torn out, this is mainly for esthetic reasons though, most singer wouldn't want to walk about Bally with bare skull showing while the symbiont regrew the skin, Aeric moves back over and attaches the skin, fusing it in place with a laser tool. Aeric finally finishes with Yelira, his eyes are red and tired, and he looks exhausted, mentally and physically, as he and the nurses wheel her into recovery Aeric pushes the gurney out of the room. Gurney 1 walks into the recovery room. You walk into the recovery room. Recovery room The room is stark white and nearly devoid of equipment compared to the rest of the trauma center. Patients coming out of surgery stay here until they're recovered enough to go to regular infirmary rooms. Cabinets on the wall contain medical supplies. Aeric with the nurses help, lifts Yelida off the gurney and onto one of the recovery bed. You are helped off the gurney by the medic. Yelira's body is wrapped in a full torso body wrap, the white bandages there mostly to act as a brace as her spinal column repairs itself, This singers normal black hair is mostly gone, especially from the back, where there is a large bald spot and a piece of new pink synth-skin, covering where someone had ripped her hair from her head violently. With time her hair will grow back and cover all of this, but for now it's is quite unsightly. Her right arm is simply missing, a bandage covering her shoulder socket, until her arm decides to regrow itself. Aeric frowns and blinks as he finally notices the singers resonance level, enough static to cause problems with her healing rate... he reaches for his wrist unit. You're going to go crazy if you don't leave Ballybran! Non-singers around you see: You find it very difficult to keep the attention of Yelira. Despite her color, her missing hair and her injuries, Yelira looks almost peaceful, her face and brow smooth, rather than marked by wrinkles with her usual frown. [ up to Shankill to its Infirmary... ] Shankill Infirmary The Shankill branch of the Ballybran infirmary is used explicitly for Singers: it looks much like the Ballybran infirmary in miniature. There is a desk, a few medicine cabinets, a large monitoring station and two beds against the far wall. The monitor here is on. Noone is checked into bed one and Noone is checked into bed two. Contents: Bio Suit Rack Obvious exits: Radiant Tub Room Corridor Aeric enters from the corridor, wrinking his nose at the medicinal smells. Aeric has arrived. Aeric uses his computer access to check Yelira into bed one. Yelira remains oblivious to everything. Aeric smiles and checks Yelira's IV connections and the monitor on the bed. He looks at her, "Singer, I'm going to find out what happened to you.. but for now, you rest....", he restrains the singer, since her resonance is so high, she might try and get up and walk around Shankill, he also informs Tsia, the resident meditech, via the computer terminal of her condition. Aeric turns and leaves Yelira to the nurses and medical staff on Shankill, his mind still filled with what she said before surgery... 'It's my crystal' she had said.. almost the same thing Shana had said only a few weeks before. Aeric walks out of the Infirmary. Aeric has left. [ Aeric returns to Ballybran where he discusses Yelira's disturbing injuries with his wife, Dreatha. Together, they go to see Kevlan Sharr, Deputy Guildmaster, and report the matter to him... to be continued.... ]
